Elliott I enjoy your analysis of the reviewers skiing styles, seeing that hop between turns is subtle but so obvious now.

Nice review and loads of fun watching this😀 I’m riding Salomon 98 when there is not much soft snow, really like them, now want to try beefier skis when there is opportunity. I’m kinda chasing forecast for soft snow in the Alps but we are not getting a lot generally, and something like 105-110 is max you want here. Cheers

Very Cool! Thanks for sharing. I skied the Alps this past spring for the first time in March and while it was kind of the off season I found it to be so beautiful! Skied Mont Blanc and Argentierre (sorry for any misspellings). Cheers from Western US and thanks for watching!

@@RicketySkiReviews Wow, nice, thats Chamonix it seems, great scenery, just returned from walk around Mont Blanc TMB, it was super nice. I ski more in Austria, we had very poor season in terms of amount of fresh snow, and as far I heard you had absolutely epic season this year. Not sure about US, but we have free ski tests in the Alps organized by different companies, like 'freeride testifal', so If you are planning going into the Alps coming season, may be good idea to plan around that time/place. Cannot wait for new season to start.

Oh that's very cool! It was a big dream of mine to see the Alpes and France in General and I was in awe of just the Alps and the Glacier and Chamonix! But maybe I can make it back there again during that Testifal. Thanks for the tip!

Interesting you liked the Vantage bc Blister dumped on that ski about as hard as I’ve ever read them crap on a ski. (Ellsworth generally hates the combo of both light & very stiff.) Is that due to you having a racing background?

They have a few videos where they talk about what's in each of their ski quivers, what each are for, etc. I found them really interesting! It shows what they bought with their own money, which speaks more to what they truly like for themselves.

i didnt watch the full video but i was almost conviced to get maverick 95s last season after their review, ended up getting unleashed 98 just for a little bit more fun. i think SE has the best reviews on the market and it allowed me to put skis on a spectrum

@@RicketySkiReviews I think ski manufacturers are focusing on playful skis with metal additives, like fischer rangers, which is a cool medium for most skiers who are not the best carvers, as the twin tip like shape makes it easier to flick around without losing too much dampness thanks to the thin sheet of metal, like mavericks, but imho mavericks are more carvy than unleashed per my demo testing. maybe if it was a spectrum from playful to carvy i'd put blizzard rustler 10, unleashed 98, maverick 95. didnt test rangers or rossi black ops as well but they can go into this segment too

The maverick is not a carving ski it's an all mountain ski. I like your channel. But saying that it's the best carving ski on the market shows that you haven't been on all that many skis lately. Kastle mx anything.. Fischer GT series Almost any stockli Probably kendo 88 also. All better all mountain carvers (to name a few ) And I ski stowe. And I literally had to switch from regular baskets to powder on my trip. Woods can get deep. They get 300" per year. Enjoyed the content

Hey Carter, Thanks for watching and for your insightful comment! The Maverick may be an all mountain ski, but I still think it's one of the best skis you can buy right now for carving. Not only do you get versatility, but you also get one of the best Arcs of any ski I've demoed in the last 5 years. To be fair though this may just be a difference of opinion or ski styles, but I owned a pair of Stockli Stormrider 88's and reviewed a Stockli Laser's and I agree that the Laser's probably used to beat the Atomic Vantages 5 years ago by a small margin, but I think the Atomic Mavericks margin of improvement since the Vantage probably pulls it ahead of the Lasers. But to be totally fair the Lasers may have changed over the years, so I will try and review them this coming season so I can give them a more fair comparison (stocklis have become so hard to find demos lately!). But every other carving ski I wrote a review on in 2018 fell very short compared to the Stocklis and Atomics. That being said the other carving skis I've tried this season left alot to be desired, the Volkl Deacon's not only weren't versatile, they had half the carving ability of most top end all mountain skis. I also have spent 20+ years on race skis Rossignol, Volkl, Blizzard, Dynastar, Head, and I still really prefer the Mavericks and Mindbenders to any of those race skis. But I think the best solution is just trying more skis, so I'll take all your suggestions in to consideration going into the winter! As always thanks for watching and thanks for your insight!

Found the Mavericks to carve very naturally... almost similarly to how the QST 92s did for me. My Kendos also carve naturally but in a much different way. It depends how you prefer to ski. With the Mavericks it all comes from pressuring the skis and you make very natural carves from that. With something like the Kendos you're not just moving the skis but also your mid-section to compliment the carves (as well as the turns when using the 3D radius). It’s 2 different types of skiing, or you could think of it as a tradeoff.

First of all, have you ever seen this guy ski ? He skis park and everything on the mountain and carves like a champ. And not many people liked the Vantage series, by the way. That isn't him skiing in those demo shots. He is way better than that guy. Ski Essentials has praised the Atomic Maverick 95 ti in every review l have seen them do.

Totally, I have seen them ski, and they do totally shred. Nothing but love here for SE. I do think the Vantages were more popular in the west than the east, because I still see them circulating in the west, but not nearly as much when I go visit family back east.

I can assure you ½ of your critiques will evaporate when you find their long-form reviews of a ski. COVID made made them get comfortable with shorter videos like this. They are attempting to cater to those with tiktok short attention spans.

Yeah-- SE has some pretty good reviews overall. I could be mistaken, but I thought the Mantra was full rocker with 0 camber. No way I'd buy a ski w/o camber. Not sure what the industry standard is but my Factions have 2mm and they've got a ton of pop. Fortunately when they were made in 2016, they still had beech to stiffen the poplar. Now I fear they might be like noodles. As for EC weather... yeah, not too much difference between ME, NH, VT. They're all a Maritime-- not Continental climate. And short of some tectonic shift raising the plates and changing the ocean to desert, I don't see much changing. I know the Loaf, Wildcat Saddleback, Cannon, and Jay have argueably the fiecest winds and coldest temps.

They changed the camber profile a couple of years ago on the mantra.

The M5 was an 18/19 model, it's had camber for 5 years now. On full rocker skis, just ordered Saba Pro 107 for their carving performance (as well as easy tree skiing). No pop out of the turn but they are unbelievably smooth and the reflective rocker makes them lock into perfectly round turns, super satisfying to carve in a way I haven't felt on any other ski

Following your your format I will mention that I worked in ski shops for 40 years. I still work part time fitting boots and as a certified binding technician. I get to demo lots of new skis at dealer demos so I have sampled most of the major brands. The guys at Skiessentials give as professional a description of skis as the manufacturer’s sales representatives. Bye the way many sales representatives are former ski racers. Watching your channel I noticed that your ski testing is very limited to several brands like Atomic, Salomon, Fischer and one K2 model. You should broaden your personal testing and video your test. You have not said anything about the new Blizzard Rustler series that were redesigned for this season. Jeff and Bob reviewed them and we skied them at our February on snow dealer demo. Also you use the term “carving” in describing the Maverick because you make that type of a turn on that ski. However the Maverick is not technically designed as a carving ski. When a customer asks me for a “ Carving ski I think something like Red Star, Firebird, Thunderbird, Deacon 72, 76, Deacon 72,76 Master ( World Cup Race Plate), or Fischer RC 4 skis.

Thanks! The plan is to get on a wider swath of skis this season, the channel was still new last winter. As someone who comes from racing, I would say a carving ski for the west is different in the east. Out here in Idaho with the softness of the snow, the maverick 88ti is a better suited carving ski for the majority of the mountains. It also allows the ski to still be skiable during big storms and go off trail when needed. If I wanted a carving ski on the east? sure, like a 76 and under would probably be great, but all mountain skis are still designed to carve and are well suited for Idaho/ Utah imo.
