Maybe try holding a bit vertically in a vice would help. You would allow adjustment of the bit depth engagement to control pivot spin while freeing a hand.

I had my knife apart before I watched the vid so when you said l might lose the acoustics l almost cried... but were good lol...I have the bazooka pink 1 w/blue ano on clip an backspacer but been carrying the sh!t out of it an the ano was wearing off so l sanded it off w/ 1000grit to match the hardware. I didn't put skiffs in it but it still slaps an drops like a guillotine. I love this knife!

Hey Kev, I haven’t been able to find a disassembly video yet for the latest JWK Bionic Jack. I thought similar principles from this video would apply but with the Bionic, there doesn’t seem to be any gap between the scales in order for me to reach the screws underneath. Do you know if these would pry with some type of flat plastic? I bought skiffs for it but I couldn’t get underneath those scales so I bailed out. Any input you could share would be greatly appreciated. I managed to get a Fireball too 😊. Absolutely love it
@LeftyEDC3 күн бұрын
Hey. Yea i didn’t post my disassembly because it turned into a debacle when i couldn’t get the scale off. I think i mentioned it in my review. But i ended up doing it like an integral and pushing the pivot out, then got the bearings to fall out and squeezed the new ones in. It was really tough though so i don’t recommend it. Also did not make a huge difference. Ben told me if you put a towel down on a table and whack it on the table it should knock the scale off with enough force. If it got in there, it can come out. Honestly probably best to just leave it but thats my thinking.

@ Cool man, thanks for your response. I’m hearing you on that one. The action is quite good as it is with a very satisfying ‘ting.’ Can’t wait for the next Tall Boy drop! Take care 😊

It's helpful to mark both sides of the pivot when you're doing your final tighten, that way you can see if the other side spun any or not, particularly as the glue starts to set and drag more and more as you're tightening.

Kevin you are trying to over tighten the star screws. Screw then in until they stop. Now press in and give it a tiny tiny tiny bump and your done. Your going to have to readjust once it's back together. Squeeze and hug the lady. Don't punch her
@LeftyEDC Жыл бұрын
That’s literally what i do. Tighten til it stops 😂.

My two cents on the skiffs… There’s more points of friction. Pressure distributed across more points as a result for less pressure on any one ceramic ball. 🤷♂️

1) flip the direction of the pivot if you want to open it from the lock side. 2) There are two sides to the steel thrust washers. A polished side and the machine side. Those bearing tracks are negligible. I never flip the washers over to the machine side. The difference is due to the manufacturing process of cold rolled steel. On a completely different note from left field: it would be great if you had Ti scales made for your budget knives like the Pony Stout while your manufacturer has the tooling set up. I doubt any aftermarket company will make any for these boutique knives. Two cents and i expect change.

What’s never made sense to me is why would a non-custom manufacturer make a bearing with both metric and imperial measurements on a standard line product.
@mitchstreets Жыл бұрын
love how all the outside screws are t8 or bigger but the screws actually holding it together underneath are poopy t6 lol makes zero sense. also, how/why in 2023 are we still making knives with free spinning pivots?!
@LeftyEDC Жыл бұрын
The T6s are because of the thinness of the titanium. They want to use the least amount of surface area when drilling for the holes/heads. Its very common to use T6s for stuff like that and inlays. Keeps the footprint down too. Free spinning pivots are actually underrated. I fell like they make more sense than d shaped since the blade is running on a full circle and not 3/4 of one. Captive is best, spinning pivot second imo. D shape third then the shit d shaped with no D 🤣 or spinning with tooling on 1 side.
