Ruka Ski Resort in Finland (Lapland) is just south of the Arctic Circle & offers 39 Slopes and 22 Lifts and the season runs from October-May. We visited in December for Christmas and did many activities including learning to ski. I believe it's the most popular resort in Lapland for skiing & snowboarding and I can see why. There are slopes rot suit beginners and pros plus great packages for learning to ski as a first timer

What time does the sunset in December? Does this impact the time you get on the slopes?

Hi, It's hardly light so I couldn't tell you what time it rises and sets as it's mainly dark!! Morning activities and afternoon/evening were all in the dark. This isn't a problem, everywhere is well lit and the snow reflects the light and makes it seem brighter than it is. We skied in. the dark all of the time. They are geared up for it so nothing to be concerned about

Ruka isn't in Lapland, just a point of accuracy.

To my knowledge Ruka is in the Eastern Lapland area.
