Well intended and designed as flotilla leaders, but because of carrying 6x150 mm guns it technically falls is in a light cruiser territory (although the Netherlands where not bound by Washington and/or 2nd London Treaties). 3400 ton displacements makes them quite large, but only 100 ton more displacement as a contre-torpilleur like Mogador that was build in the same era. Wows already fitted the even larger scout cruiser (3750 ton) Paolo Emilio as an DD, but that one was atleast armed with (although large with 8x 135 mm guns!) a bit more DD contemporary and actual fast DD levels of speed. With Tribals, contre-torpilleurs and Capitani Romani's around pre-war, everyone grew big with their premium destroyers, and all those quirky super-destroyers that paved the way for the modern destroyer to take up a capital ship slot, end up in TIX and TX.

I citadeled a La Galisonaire multiple times the other day with Hood AP shells. It felt weird like it wasn't supposed to happen. I was literally stunned that it did. That's what broken French armor has done to us - made it so what would normally be a citadel hit so unlikely that when it does, it's noteworthy. Remind me to play more French botes.

Tromp was one of the best ships I've ever got in this game, by a long shot, the pure joy of messing with people in so many ways... 150mm guns, torp, low detect range and airdrop? I can't stress enough how many times I've laughed out loud playing this ship

Being a BB main and a frequent cruiser player has trained me to be a competent torpedo beater. But now tnat I'm playing DDs for the first time I realize how much easier it is to dodge those steel fish in a loli boat. Spreads that would render you helpless in a BB are no problem for DDs.

4:50 reminds me a monkey I met a few day ago. He spammed AP shells to my Smolensk from his battleship. Now I play with a turned off Chat so I save myself from these kind of ingame idiotism, but the guy were so kind to write to me private after the battle just to tell me that he reported me, mentioned my 53% winrate (I still don't know what he wanted with that) and tell me that he block me... Like I ever wrote to him a single word... I tried to check his stats to understand what is the problem with my 53% winrate, but he hide his stats so it was failed too. Well, these kind of idiots make me want to play less and less... Against the Yamato, you not shot too early, you shot too late, it was 5:59 when you should shoot, but you late with 2 second and aimed the strongest armor belt BEHIND the weakspot. And Somme has a decent AA, not as strong as the Pan-Eu DDs has, but also not a bad AA.

Lmao hackusations are always the greatest compliments. The only time I had legitimate concerns over someone using hacks was when I kept getting massive ping spikes whenever I would lock onto one specific enemy. I'd have no issues the entire game, but the second I would lock on to them my ping would spike to like 5k. I'd hit X and all the lag would disappear. Never figuered out if it was just something wrong with the servers or if it was actually a ping hack.

I have to say that over penetration is a dumb concept. If shells overpen a ship it means what exactly? Because in my mind it goes through the entire ship leaving gaping holes on the other side filling with water?

It actually is a real life concept: The shell goes through one side and out the other without blowing up. This will leave holes, but they are relatively small, a foot and a half at most, and easily patched up. For instance, USS Johnston took three shells at once from Yamato at Samar and shrugged them off.
