The current environment basically means employer sponsored visas (SID specifically) will get the priority overall, and probably will be in the foreseeable future, as employer will be able to lock employee for a number of years unlike PR or citizen where leaving the company don’t generally have visa penalties (except a select few PR visa). On top of that, US with similar work visa program is actively exploiting cheaply paid foreign workers working in the US to further maximise their company profit while refusing to hire locals due to visa holders having a much harder time to switch to a different job and/or different company. Dunno if Australian employee could do the same realistically nowadays but this is a risk factor to consider for potential visa applicants and current visa holders.

Thank you for your helpful insight as always! I learned a lot. This is exactly what I need to decide whether skilled or employer sponsored. Happy new year and looking forward to your educational videos in 2025.
