I come from Hong Kong and I am surprised to find Japanese toilet is not common in a colder place like UK. Have been using for years so I have shipped my TOTO to UK and hope it works here. I only turn it on when I feel I like to poo, giving it few minutes to heat up, and finally need just one piece of toilet paper to wipe out the dampness after the thorough warm water cleaning. Thanks for Roger reminding about hard water, my TOTO might not work well here. Seriously warn don't try it, because once you experienced the warmth and cleanliness, you may not live without it.

Please can you help with the same type you fitted but is there a comfort height model for taller people as I found the website a bit confusing. Best regards Jonathan
@SkillBuilder18 күн бұрын
You can set the frame to any height you want. I usually put a bit of 4.2 under the feet rather than raise it with the legs but it makes no difference to the operation. I often think that the wall hung is the best option for elderly people because it can be set higher than a floor standing pan.

You say that you would never connect a toilet to a hot supply but I would beg to differ. We stayed at a holiday let in Ireland a few years ago. It was a new build and had three toilets but one of them was connected to the hot water supply. Also at my son's house in Surrey the downstairs toilet was running on the hot supply when he first moved in. It was not noticed until they had a combi boiler fitted and the boiler kept firing up every time the toilet flushed! Plumbers eh?

@SkillBuilder8 күн бұрын
no you don't need toilet paper. In many countries they don't use paper. The flush will take care of most problems.
@alanho27793 күн бұрын
The japanese design the water jet just perfect that it is strong enough to clean, but not too strong to spill any brown thing around your exit. You will learn to twist your butt until you feel the whole area has been watered clean. Finally just need a small piece of paper to wipe the damness.

@SkillBuilder18 күн бұрын
When you say we are supposed to be saving energy I take it you know that toilet paper grows on trees and it takes a fair amount of energy to get it to your door and even more to get it away again when you have used it. There are so many things that people condemn on environmental grounds that just don't stand up to scrutiny.

These are difficult to clean & maintain, including replacements or repair, fixing leakages etc. Easy, cheap & best option is to install a small handheld bidet spray, ‘bum gun’ if you will, connected via a T connection. Clean, easy & can also be used to spray down the toilet bowl. Easy DIY replacement. Costs about £2-£5 Using toilet paper in this day & age is medieval!

Adding a bidet toilet seat is one of those things that just dramatically improves your personal quality of life. The Toto, with heated seat, warm water, remote control, etc. really is top of the line. But you can get 96% of the benefits with just a simple cold-water bidet seat. I bought a sub- £100 unit from Amazon, and another £90 to a qualified local plumber to make the modifications to the cold water supply. No need to call an electrician. No need to tear my bathroom apart.

Very interesting. In Thailand we use a much simpler system known colloquially by Westerners as the 'bum gun'. It's just a jet fitting on a hose attached to a tap coming out of the wall. Obviously there's no heating function but in the tropics we don't need that. Reach behind to unhook the hose from the wall, squeeze the trigger, job done, so to speak. Like most properties we are attached to a septic tank, so we only flush what has been through our bodies, a sheet of toilet paper is sufficient to dry after spraying, and that goes in a waste bin. I should think it might be possible to retrofit something similar in many UK houses and it would be a lot cheaper than the Japanese kit.
