With RAGTM, it goes beyond vax only shows (though I wouldn't know anything about that) and selling out, because RATM dipped out on thousands of fans, including myself, who bought tickets to their last tour without making any attempt to make it up to them. Here in the Bay Area, thousands of fans including myself purchased tickets to a scheduled show in Oakland and waited years with many delays and setbacks due to COVID pushing the show further and further on, and though RATM eventually made it up to other fans who experienced delays, we were one of several places that were left hanging. Eventually, RATM cancelled the tour and said they were finished touring. I just think it's shitty that the band got the hopes up of so many fans and never bothered to make it up to them. It's rude and disrespectful and according to a media source, Tom Morello made it a point to let those fans know that he didn't care, and in those words. It came across to many including myself, that RATM was only touring to get a money bag and capitalize on their wide-range mainstream music success by stocking up enough money for their retirement fund with one last tour and once they felt it was enough, they dipped, because it was apparent that it didn't matter to them that they disappointed so many fans so it's not like they were out to please them at all. That's why they got so much backlash from fans with phrases like "Rage For the Machine" being coined. I personally have been a huge RATM fan since I was an early teenager, and now that I'm in my 30s and have never gotten to see them live, I was stoked to have a chance to see them live when they went on their last tour, so needless to say, this was a huge disappointment.

@@peterrhines1516 Being anti-establishment and separating from societal norms are a few core tenets. The way left and right wing media portray the other side can make someone on that opposing side feel like they are a punk. I think that John Cooper's argument is that he was against the govt mandates, opposed to the administration and the majority of the media while feeling his religion be under attack. Cooper also said that he's "more of" versus "I am a punk rock revolutionary". Even if you disagree with his takes or Christianity it's still understandable where he's coming from. RATM made a career out of being outspoken. They've even rallied against the DNC. I also understand that many people were on board with the majority taking place during pandemic times because they seen it as scientific and rational. There's no rule in punk that I'm aware of that says you cannot be scientific or rational. And, if the venues made the decision then I can see Tom's point. However, in the years post-pandemic it has become abundantly clear that we've been lied to by many who were in power. We are in the middle of a substantial cultural shift due to a large part of what took place in those years. RATM's silence on, or doubling down on certain matters have lead many to believe that they are raging for the machine. That's why when someone like John Cooper comes along speaking out against what took place that many see him as the authentic anti-establishment musician. Tbf, If we delved into other issues facing society today, and our venue was an actual RATM concert instead of this comment section we'd see the majority say that rage stands for the ideals they align with. Man, I swear I didn't intend on writing this much. But, to your "then that means no one can define what punk is..." comment all I can say is... Johnny Rotten= a conservative punk rocker, Jello Biafra= a Green party/liberal punk rocker. Staying true in your beliefs even if it means losing everything= my idea of punk

Tom Morello is the textbook definition of a sellout, don’t forget how he slandered a small business because they wouldn’t give him special treatment

"Judge a person by their actions, not their words" Morello responds....with words. What a cl0wn.

Nah, John had just become obsessed with sharing every thought that pops into his head on social media in the past few years. I had to stop following him because I got tired of him calling me evil for not voting for trump :/
