4 different unknown maps, you pick a car for each map (sort of a gamble) based on cam7-ing the maps (or screenshots of each map). Each car can only be picked once. Then you compete, with knockouts. Warmup for each map is optional.

You could maybe do this with platform mode, have like 3 tries on each car on a long platform map to get best respawns and lowest wins (not finishing adds a 10 respawn penalty)

Have multilap maps with 4 laps that can be played with all cars. You get a warmup with stadium to have a look at the map, and then you choose the order of cars in which you want to play the track as. Each car can only be picked once. For example, you choose stadium, snow, desert and then rally, you start with stadium, then as you cross the multilap block you switch to snow and so on.

fast learning knockout cup, 1 shortened discovery round and 2 scoring rounds. players use short discovery to select what car to drive (locks choice in for that map), but you have to switch cars each round so no one just locks in as stadium car for every map. honestly a bonk cup with these rules sounds great for content

@@erick4923 I'm sorry if you were making something similar around the time, I genuinely haven't noticed that. I originally got inspired from one of the Dommy's multiplayer gamemodes where you could swap cars at any time, something from his Galaxy title pack, maybe Pursuit. I think it was around May 2018 when I got the idea to replace the envimix maps to single-map multi-car idea. Tho I was already interested in TMUF Nadeo Envimix back in 2014 driving records, and talking with Poutrel (as the inventor of the project back then) about it afterwards when TM2 Nadeo Envimix mapmaking stopped progressing. I'm curious what you have worked on back then though, maybe I'll get a flashback. I admit I haven't really been looking into other title packs and projects around much.

This is a very cool gamemode. It makes me think of some ideas: - A COTD gamemode where each round, the car changes (randomly for more fun?). - A new weekly event that Nadeo can creates where you have 1 hour to get the best times on each cars and the best average overall position wins the cup each week. - Nadeo can make a map each week where the goal is to have the best average overall position on each cars. And the rank is set each week (like the weekly short) - Like you said, envimix implementing directly in the campaign (would be an issue for maps that don't work on each cars?).

What we did back in 2018 with this gamemode about deciding winner is having something like "Activity Points", which is something Poutrel came up with, which tries to reward you based on finishing multiple cars and being good at them rather than solely being better than others. Something like skillpoints but with base value even if you're the only one completing the car. Not sure what Zai's gamemode did there, but it looks familiar.

I'm still planning to add the activity points system. The current system is averaging your rank on all cars and whoever has the lowest wins.

@zai-tm I'd suggest adding some UI that would show the calculation at the end or something, would be fun for the eyes. Cannot think it right out of my head, but the lowest rank punishes quite a lot for not finishing a car? Like if unfinished = player count rank?

@zai-tm what if you added up all times but then separated people who finished 4 cars, 3 cars etc into groups, so then people with the same # of car finishes can compete within their group for minimum total time. up to them to choose which cars to compete with at that point. although i realise if theres a luck based finish on 1 car then you could automatically beat everyone else just by finishing all 4 cars

There should also be a leaderboard for any car. That way, part of the challenge is also choosing the right car for the track, and just like finding a cut on a normal track, one could suddenly beat everyone by finding out that there exists a better path for a different car then the car everyone else was using

for a tournament, I think it'd be doable if you have relatively short maps (20-30s) and 6 minutes per map, that gives people 2-3 full runs per car if you want an hour long tournament then you do like 8-10 maps and score points based on final position per map

In game, you already have the choice to choose between race, stunt, platform and royal game modes when creating a new map. It would be so cool if map makers could make multicar maps where they can select which cars players can choose from at the start of their tracks, and there'd be a leader board for each car that the map creator allowed on that map. Personally I would enjoy this so much and would make and play so many multicar maps.

@@GranaDy me too, I played all the alt-car fall 2024 campaigns, less so desert car, and was wishing it could just be available within the map as a selection. I started to hate track 25 from the summer campaign until I tried it again with rally car. It's a fun way to refresh a stale track.

Someone could create a multi-route map where part of the challenge is to find the best path for each car. Ranking decided by adding all times together. Something like 20 minutes total time to set the best time with each car then add everything up. Also a bit of strategy involved when deciding which car to optimize more.

It's almost possible. Unfortunately in gamemodes you can only transform once every second. So you can't always transform exactly when you want to. (I also wanted to use this to "disable" transform gates but it's too inconsistent)

Average time across all 4 cars should be the best metric for the winner surely. If the idea is to be as well rounded as possible, this is the best way to measure it.

A simple tournament idea might be just Cup of the Day style Knockout with a random car for every round (Everyone gets the same car) and pickable cars during the 15min pracitce. 🤔 Another idea would be BYMC Final Life Mode, with like 10 min per map to get a clean run with every car. You lose a life for each car you DNF/finish in the red. No idea how to adjust it so that the finals actually work out 🤔Maybe whoever wins a round cannot lose a life, even if they are last with one of the cars?

This is pretty interesting though. I wonder like… could you take the current campaign and modify it so that every car can drive it cleanly? Because I could see that possibly being the reason for the current boring campaign. Make a basic campaign of 25 maps where you can add or remove a few blocks where needed and suddenly you have an official campaign for all four cars. Make each one have its own leaderboard and blammo. GranaDy world record holder on every single Snow Car campaign released.
