Good video. I like how you repeated the shot, and then talked about the adjustments. And your adjustments were 100% on ! Well done.

Since coming back to bowling in 2020 after a 20 year absence, I had to learn so much. Wirh the equipment and ball specs. Now, right away I look at when the ball starts hooking and how it travels through the rack and make vmy adjustments from that. I am a lefty so the friction on the back end holds up longer and we have to make different adjustments. Nice video.

Love this video. I have been playing with surface as well and moving left.. what a difference

Really makes a difference when used properly!

Great video like always. I have pads with me when I bowl esp tournaments. Surface changes are important. I keep using them and I adjust the grit numbers as they age. I like the way you talk about a ball hooking. Front to back and not right to left like many people think. Perfect

That's really valuable and useful information. The experiment shows what I like to do, and that is to sand a symmetrical ball to 2000-3000, and throw from the same spot all 3 games of league. It looks like I could go lower with the grit number, and still be able to stand in the same spot as the ball lane shines and the lane transitions.

You most likely will be able to. If you put too much surface on it, it will looks hook potential closer to the foul line and sometimes they tend to lose drove through the pins. It’s all relative to the pattern you’re bowling on.

Trouble Maker was so interesting. It looked just so slightly different but man so consistent, so blendy. I have just been experimenting with different surfaces recently but have been afraid to go down to 1k or 500, but seeing this, it definitely tells me I just need to try stuff on different balls. It's crazy how different those reacted to surface changes. And 🙏 for the still striking ending 😁

I didn’t have to move left with different surface on the Trouble Maker. Like you mentioned, it just really blended the pattern with lower grit. Still striking!

Nice video. I’ve been using abralon pads and polish for years. I can’t believe how little you had to move with the dull ball. About the lowest grit I go down to is 1000 because they tend to burn up early and hit flat. A lot of times I use a spinner and might be using too much pressure.

Thanks! If I’m resurfacing a ball I will use the spinner. But for fine tuning, a light pad used by hand does the trick!

This was great! Just started using grits. Took an out of box 4000 to 1500 and saw a major difference.

Wow, glad to hear it helped. Surface is bowling’s best kept secret.

I was always curious, if you took a ball with 4000 or of box and took a 2000 pad to it, would it be possible to replicate the same shape with out of box surface with a different layout
@jayvallandingham24062 ай бұрын
You use whatever grit that gets your ball to do what you want it to do.

I generally drill every ball the same. Then fine tune it with surface depending on how close it is to the right shape. All balls are different even if they have the same box finish. Keep it simple!

I use pads every time I bowi...most bowlers don't do anything and wonder why their ball doesn't read the lane.

Front to back. Not left to right!

But you can't alter the surface once the league games start, right?
@bowlwithVALue2 ай бұрын
That’s correct. All surface adjustments must be made before competition starts. You can alter the surface in practice though. This helps dial in ball reaction before you bowl for score!
