This was a very great video!!! Hypervisor is difficult concept to grasp immediately for beginners!! I loved how you have examples for each type of hypervisor as it helps to understand the difference between them.

You said that a type one hypervisor runs directly on the hardware of the computer, but then in the examples the Hyper-V runs on computers with windows. shouldn't that be classified as a type two hypervisor or am I missing something?

Hello. You mentioned that you can test SW on Windows, Linux and MaxOS VMs? I have used Windows and Linux VM but never MacOS. Can you please point out how can I virtualise MacOS?

I've been using Type-2 hypervisors for many years and am interested in virtualization and emulation in general. I've been looking for the answer to a question I have but haven't been able to find an answer so far. If Type-1 hypervisors run directly on the hardware then what exactly is the point instead of running an OS natively on the hardware itself? I mean what is the actual purpose of the virtualization layer inbetween?
@bakmanthetitan3 жыл бұрын
Even Type-1 hypervisors have performance disadvantages. An OS running natively has practically complete control over the hardware. If you place that same OS on top of a hypervisor, it will have to delegate some low-level operations (like accessing peripherals) to the hypervisor.

@gamingraw10183 жыл бұрын
does it mean that type 1 hypervisor are replacing the OS ? like..it's not really a virtual computer, but the new version of the computer?
@bakmanthetitan3 жыл бұрын
You can think of it as giving a lightweight control layer between the hardware and the virtual machine(s). That means the hypervisor can support multiple VMs, while ensuring each of them is isolated and uses only resources it's authorized to access.

Thanks for that reply Henry.
