recycling often requires so much water and electricity that it almost negates the process. What we need to do, instead of making more plastic items that will eventually end up in landfill again, it could be turned to something more useful like components for housing structures for homeless. Bricks etc. Or we could just stop making plastic things altogether.

@Movieman19654 ай бұрын
@@mikeraphone6745 plastic blends of recycled plastic used to make products are so unpredictable when it comes to durability and lfie cycle. I have built cycle/stress loading test machines for mop buckets to test the effects of going from virgin plastic to recycled plastic and the results are very different for sure. The next step was to try a blend of recycled plastic mixed with virgin plastic. The results are better but still you can't get the exceptional quality of 100% virgin plastic products. Obviously, everyone is trying to keep costs down so that is why making eveything out of 100% recycled materials has become so commonplace. But, for products that need structural integrity like a mop wringer or even the bucket itself the testing proves that NOT everything should be made from recycled materials.

I would love to see Americans do this.
@Movieman19654 ай бұрын
They did. In the beginning of the industrial revolution, things were not so well developed and automated like today. Working conditions were very poor and many died in industrial accidents. But, the US evolved it's manufacturing technology to decrease harm to workers, increase production numbers and quality. Reduced the amount of air pollution and the harmful working environment for workers. There was a lot of investments to make all this happen. In less developed countries these improvements have not been adopted due to the huge costs to do so. We lost many workers when the skyscrapers were first being built due to very poor safety rules and regulations. Over time the famous OSHA Standards were created and made into law to require companies to assure they are implementing safety practices to reduce deaths and health problems. These developing countries have not implemented OSHA Standards for the most part from my trips to China and Central America.
