Yea dude i wish i lived by Aliso. that would be amazing. Your really good. I laughed so hard at the part when u did a Shove and fell. But yea dude keep reppin it up, Exile is no doubt the best skimboarding brand out there. And they have the most fans. Keep it real keep it Skim style.

We have found that most skimmers prefer 5/8" or 3/4" boards with tapering in the nose and tail. 3/4" obviously goes a bit further but doesnt turn as fast. 5/8" seems to be a little more popular with our pro team but a lot of them ride really powerful waves.

Glad you enjoy the comments. I enjoy honest comments too. I would be interested to know how you think the UST is poorly run, or can be improved upon. Always looking for ways to make things better. Skimming is definitely still where surfing was in the 70's (maybe...). I missed that rather golden era of surfing, but am happy to experience it in skimming.

Skimboards are smaller, thinner and have no fins on the bottom. They generally are used running from the shore out to the waves, instead of paddling it. Search for skim online for more basic info on skimming.

@AMPup47 If you fall you definitely lose your board if you dont have a leash. But you can just swim in and get it. Or we have some boards with leashes. Surfboards are usually ridden with leashes.

@projectmike93 First thing is to make sure you have the proper size board. You can do that by calling Exile and talking to Steve or Hank. They will be happy to help you out. 2nd thing is to make sure that the waves you are trying to reach are reachable. 3rd thing is to refine your drop/style and wave knowledge. The boards are capable as is proven by the team. Its all about using them correctly :)

Its not regular surfing cause its tow-in. Its a small board without fins about 5/8" thick and in a particular shape... actually we have a name for that... its called a skimboard!

our standard boards weigh between 3.5lbs or so for a small competition weight board and high 4lbs for large 3/4" eglass boards. that is about the right weight range for high end boards.

I am not sure what a mini tanker is but we should be able to make you a skimboard that can hold your weight. For strength you will want to make sure its 3/4" and maybe add some extra glass. I used to weigh 245 and could ride normal glass and 5/8" thickness without any problems, but I also am a pretty smooth skimmer. By going thick and adding the extra glass it should be plenty tough. Then we would just need to get you the right size. And thats the easy part! Kinda... :)

For all of you that are saying "Just get a surfboard", there's a reason they are doing this. First of all, skimboards are a lot easier to turn than surf boards which makes them more fun because you can change your direction easily instead of just riding a wave in slowly.

at that time it was brand new. no one had much practice. surfing or skimming at the highest levels is difficult. however skimming at the basic wave riding level (you know, where you are in surfing...) is way more difficult.

Surfing that on a skimboard would be much harder as opposed to a surfboard. Think about it, a smaller board with no fins is fucking hard to control when you're cruising.

I definitely think there are reasons why someone would like to to do this.. Many of the waves do not curtail to a surfboard as well as they do to a skim board. You can see how quickly these wall out right onto the shore...

@naruto1535 one of our boards will float much better that any DB skimboard. For even more float you can get ours in the thicker 3/4" foam. Best boards on the planet.
