products mentioned: - cerave moisture (cheapest) - obagi hydrate (more occlusive) - la roche posay (lighter) note for expensive creams: (reversatrol is supposed to be good for addressing aged skin and reduce the risk of skim cancer) - he also recommends getting vaseline, dermeze, or some other super cheap moisturizer to apply to recovering skin (he uses to recover from laser) approx 10 AUD

My answer is simple drink plenty of water,eat lots of greens ,no make up and used Cetaphil .Also do not let stressed get to and get plenty of sleep and be humble.

Thank you sooooooo much Dr. Lim for your honesty; because of your advice I have saved a butt load of $$$$$$$$ on not buying unnecessary products that won’t benefit me. I’m African American and don’t have that many issues but have taken your advice on how to combat the signs of aging with your recommendations of products. I just had my 52 birthday a day ago but many people I come across think I’m 36 or 37. I always stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and follow a pretty decent skincare routine the benefits my skin, so thank you for all that you do and the time you take to help all of us with great information.

I find this so interesting because I notice a huuuge difference in my skin when I use my serums. I use the ordinary and it is good but I also use aspect extreme B and it’s expensive but definitely improves the appearance of my skin even more so
@humanormachine2936
@humanormachine2936 6 жыл бұрын
@@katex2467 Well sure, but it all depends on the ingredients in the serums. Not all serums are created equal. If they contain effective ingredients, then they'll most like provide some benefit. It's just not necessary to get those ingredients in a serum per se. Also the word "serum" itself is problematic because it doesn't have one set meaning.

So glad for the honesty. I have used a regime for decades, on my face and neck. Wash face well, apply Ponds Cold Cream, and a thin veil over that of Vaseline. By the time I get the coffee pot/cup washed up...ready to apply my day makeup. Not greasy, just moist. And look, as I am told often, way younger than they discover my age to be. Love you for being so honest. Women are paying for and buying an illusionary dream. Just not right.

Cerave cream in the tub! I use it day and night! It is thick but I find if I put it on after I cleanse and my face is wet it dries matte. A little off putting the first time or two when you start to use it but it's awesome. No breakouts and my skin stays hydrated and it helps keep the elements of my job off my face. If it's just too thick for you, try the lotion. It's lightweight and doesn't have petrolatum in it.

My favourite moisturiser is organic aloe Vera gel, if I’m feeling particularly dry then I mix a few drops of pure vitamin e oil from health food shops like Holland and Barrett’s. This combo is great just before bed and you wake up with plump and youthful skin, if you use it in the day it’s an easy way to get that Korean glassy skin look too!

@@SuperKoreanzombie I was struggling with hormonal acne and could not get it under control. I bought the Obagi line and it was helping, but not curing it. I ended up finding out biotin ( which I was taking daily) was that culprit to my severe breakouts. I quit the biotin and my face started clearing. I continued to use the obagi until I ran out. It’s very good products, but very pricey. I’m now in the exhaustive search for non prescription products to help clear acne scarring and pigmentation. That’s a whole other battle…

I've used Epiduo, Proactive, Tazorac, Neutrogena, you name it. I've been using cerave for almost a year and my skin has never been this healthy. I'm really happy about the results. It sure took patience and consistency.

@@Luv2shop803 I'm sorry it took me so long to reply! I used their products targeted towards drier skintypes, even though my skin felt dehydrated and greasy at the time. It balanced my oil production and rehydrated my skin. I used their gentle cleanser, pm moisturizer and am moisturizer in the mornings. Id use tea tree oil at night on any stubborn breakouts. My skincare game got better with time too. But sticking to that routine for a while really helped clear and heal my skin. It gets some time to get used to the cleanser too if you're new to cream cleansers (which I was). My routine has changed now, but that was a good start for me. I hope that helps. Best of wishes on your skincare journey.

Because I have dry skin I never buy expensive moisturisers anymore. I just go through them too quickly. My strategy? Buy a fairly bland but hydrating and non irritating moisturiser and get antioxidants and dna protection ingredients through serums and concentrates. These ingredients tend to appear in higher concentrations in a Serum simply because in a moisturiser they have to make more way for ingredients that give a moisturiser its humectant and occlusive properties like glycerin. I use Cetaphil moisturiser or Avene Tolerance Extreme. Under that, I treat with Paula’s Choice C15 Superbooster in the AM and retinol in the PM

I've just discovered Cerave (I live in the UK and don't think it's been available here for long) and I am seriously impressed with it as a moisturiser for rosacea prone skin. It has ceramides, fatty acids and cholesterol and is helping with barrier repair - plus its about £12.00 for a huge tub.

For extremely sensitive skin (compromised barrier due to topical steroids) I really like the La Roche Posay Toleriane Ultra range, I love the moisturizer, I've been using it for years, even on my eye area with no problems. Also I second the doc on using vaseline products - my skin gets very dehydrated and itchy sometimes (well actually quite a lot of times) , so I need something more occlusive, and I always have my Aquaphor on hand. Also, for those like me suffering with very sensitive skin, avoid anything with fragrance, alcohol, tap water on the face, aggressive cleansers, any scrubs, harsh exfoliants, essential oils, and always use a good broad-spectrum sunscreen.

I moved to France 5 yrs ago. I have been influenced by what I see and hear here. Overwhelming, the deal is cleanse with the micellar water, moisturise in the morning, night moisture slightly heavier; with perhaps a mask once or twice a month as per the season. Just clean and moisturise with a good product - really simple. (I choose a middle of range paraban and scent free that suits my skin type). My skin has never looked better, nearly 50 and I am happy with a simple routine and good results. I am fairly fortunate to have the wide range of French skin care products that exist here, at very reasonable prices too. Thanks for the channel, watch it frequently, always learning!

Along with your application tips, Cetaphil & CeraVe products are giving me instant improvement, compared to the medium priced products I have been using. I have very few wrinkles and look much younger than I am. I also drink plenty of bottled water and try to get at least 7 hours sleep a night. I do not smoke as it is the cause of badly wrinkled and sallow skin...😀🇬🇧

Three things that took away my acne and made my skin smoother was. Aloe Vera (I buy the plant and cut it up myself), cerave , and I use vitamin c powder to fade my dark marks. I also use a rose clay mask and it really helped a lot with my acne. My favorite is the rose clay mask from origins. It’s great for my super sensitive skin. Please make a video on face masks! I would love to hear your opinions on them.

Dermalogica intensive moisture balance. It isn't cheap, but one tube lasts about 6 months, as you only need to use a small amount. I use it both day and night (one of the things I love about it, is that I only need one moisturizer). Doesn't irritate my sensitive skin or break me out. (Vegan and cruelty free too!)

From all the moisturizers you mentioned they all carry the ingredient "Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter" i heard that it is highly comedogenic for acne prone skin 🤔 is it true..?

I think shea butter is actually supposed to be non-comedogenic, or at least it doesn’t have a high chance of breaking you out. I have super acne prone skin and used raw shea butter for years without issue.

Very very helpful. Hard for us consumers to see thru the hype, but you educated us common sensically and clarified-although I’ll have to write it down and carry it with me, or some beautifully displayed Fancher packaging or pretty models’ faces may lead me to spend far more than necessary. Also loved your video on Elizabeth Arden 8-hour Cream! Makes me want to get a horse....what??

I'm in my 50's and finally seeing the effects of not wearing SPF. I love skincare so why I skipped that step is crazy. Currently, I love the texture of Kiehl's 24hr facial cream, I'm fairly confident that it doesn't really protect for 24hrs, nonetheless I'm using it. In Australia, we pay around $70 per 125ml. I also was a big fan of Origins "Drink Me Up" for the night as I am in love with the fragrance in it. After watching this video, I will most definitely give the less expensive versions a go.

He’s exactly like my dermatologist! Never try to endorse skincare products during consultation. She always emphasizes on proper cleansing, moisturization to lock in the moisture and sunblock (because tbh that’s all that your skin needs!). Even told me that topical vitamin e in the drug store is comparable to the expensive high-end brands (since it’s all about marketing) besides being readily available and cheaper! Kudos to you and to my dermatologist Dr Vivienne!

I'm interested in what you think about brands such as "The Ordinary" and "NIOD," which seem more scientific, but is it just marketing? I'd love to see a no nonsense video on these skincare products. There is so much misinformation out there! There are also these 7 or 10 step Korean skincare regimens, which seems like an awful lot, and like it might just be marketing trying to convince people that they need more products. Any thoughts on that? I get the double cleanse, for makeup wearers, but the rest...? Apologies if you've already covered any if this.

Lucy I think you haven tried Asian routine before. Perhaps you should go get your hands on some which are great. One fine example would be sunblock. Western sunblock sucks to this age in the 21st century for a simple fact that the FDA does not approve new tech since the 1970s you don’t even know what your missing out on gal.

Thank you, doc! I love the honesty and simplicity of this information. I'm sure social media has made your job more difficult, as people will follow the weirdest skin advice if it's hyped up - e.g. applying pure apple cider vinegar to your skin, using essential oils to treat various skin conditions, washing your face with baking soda, using exorbitantly priced designer perfumed water as a face mist, etc. Would you mind making a video addressing the addition of humectant products such as viscous hyaluronic acid toners and serums? I know you said in the video that hyaluronic acid doesn't work because it doesn't penetrate the skin, but is that true for even with ones containing different molecular sizes of hyaluronic acid? Many people say it's a great thing to add if your skin is dehydrated, others say it's not, particularly if you're living in a very dry environment. Also, please discuss if there is such a distinction exists between "dry" and "dehydrated" skin, because so many people mention this, but dermatologists say there's no medical difference. Are there any products that do actually hydrate the skin?
