I honestly think that people worry about the meaning of tattoos too much. Like not every tattoo has to have some deep rooted story behind it. If you like it and know its something that appeals to you go for it.

A tattoo having meaning (in my opinion) can be as simple as enjoying a particular artist and wanting to have that on your body. I recently got my first tattoo off my cousin who's artwork I've admired since I can remember. I can understand people becoming frustrated with others getting a tattoo for gratification, but saying that when I got mine, I couldn't wait to show my friends because I was proud that my cousin could produce such amazing work.

Nothing pisses me off more than the discrimination of tattoos. Unless they are vulgar or explicit, I see nothing unprofessional about tattoos. They are (in my opinion) the most beautiful form of art and a beautiful form of expression. I hate the fact that if i want to get tattoo's on my neck or hands that it will hurt my chances at a job. Since when does ink in your skin effect your work ethic? It's bullshit.

I have a sleeve along with a couple other tattoos in other places. I believe tattooing is becoming extremely acceptable in this generation. I am in the coast guard and we are permitted to be tattooed anywhere besides the hands, neck, face and feet. i don't think people understand that my generation, me only being 21. It isn't a huge shock to see sleeves and heavily tattooed people. That being said as we start to become the ones that take over these jobs and wright the certain guide lines to acceptance. You will see more visible tattoos in places and jobs that you normally wouldn't. There will always be people that may not like tattoos, but the people who associate tattoos to bad things are going to slowly die off. This is a new day and age. and there's a big change coming.

I told some one once that I was planning on getting a tattoo when I would get the chance and they told me, "Basic hipster." No. Doing something I desire is not me attempting to fit into to this group of people, and trying to hard to be artistic. This would be me, a unquiet individual, marking myself because I want to have this event symbolized into me permanently. I want it to be a form of self expression in the form of art.

Interesting how many comments using the term "trashto". That everyone with a tattoo is shallow hipster garbage. I have two, and I have yet to find anyone with the same, and the third I'm getting I designed (along with a lot of other ones I'm planning on getting). But even if it is a common one, the same tattoo can mean something completely different depending on the person. People often get a tattoo because they want to mark something about themselves or something that happened. Tattoos are highly symbolic, it's not about the image it's about the meaning behind it.

I want a tattoo, not because its cool, but because I grew up around them. My Mum has quite a bit, and I've always adored them. She used to tell me, when I turn 18, I could do what I want with my body. That it should mean something to you. But not all tattoos have to have a story behind it. I'm currently 17 and learning everything I can about them. I think art work on the skin is most beautiful.. one that she has really stands out to me.. a beautiful realistic wolf on her arm. It's her spirit animal. I remember asking about it.. its your inner you. A creature that represents you and who you are as a person. I pondered and pondered on what mine could be.. then it came to me in a dream.. a white stag. The protector of the forest. I'm very similar to the white stag. So I decided, this is what I want on my body. For forever. It's who I am. I think its a far better idea than what I used to want.. angel wings on my back, my hamsters name..(mind you I was a younger kid then). So yep, just wanted to say that. . .

Ever since I was a small child I knew what I wanted to look like as an adult. I am not a hipster nor do I want to be. I've always been a ghetto, gothic, metal type person. I never followed trends & am not trying to impress others with my image. I want to look a certain way because it'll make me happy. I have facial hair, because I like the way it looks & I want a ton of tattoos because they will symbolize my stories in life, the good & the bad. I want to stand out. I do not want to blend in. Now that tattoos are so trendy some may think I'm part of the sheap heard, although I am not. I know regardless I will be judged by others. Outside of family & friends, people's opinions mean nothing to me. I am a good person with dreams & aspirations. I just want my outter appearance to symbolize my soul. Every tattoo I have & am planning on will or has a powerful meaning to me. I look either cool or goofy on a regular basis so here I go on the rest of life's journey. :) thanks! Wonderful video!

The person under the tattoo with the story of why they chose to get it and the meaning behind the ink, whether it's metaphoric, a captured memory or just a beautiful work of art. I think tattoos and the artists who bring them to life are truly misunderstood where many of them need to be admired like artists before them.

First was the GoT Stark symbol because I feel a connection to that family. Second, the Shadow Hunter emblem from Mortal Instraments/Infernal Devices because it rekindled my love for reading. Second, a qoute from Looking for Alaska because John Greene gives a no nonsense realistic view on teens. Then the Kingdom Hearts symbol because it started my love for deep, interesting video games. To finish of, the Satanic cross, because I follow that philosophy. Next, who knows?

Tatoos are self expression. Its the same thing as music, instead of the vocabulary of expression, you get the body of expression. A tatoo is symbolzing a persons past, death of a loved one,a sisters, brothers, fathers or mothers name. Anyone could have tatoos, lawyers, police, military, firemen,ETC! I understand and respect, some older generations will stick to "it's just drawing on someone, waste of time" but the younger generationg understand it all. Theres correct ways to do tatoos. Line work, adaptibility, percission, contrast, txture so there is alot about tatooing. It is more accepted now a days and to say "if you get a tatoo you wont get a job" that is an excuse, nurses, teachers, bankers, lawyers, more and more people have tatoos. There are some people, will never understand the symbole of tatoos cos maybe it wasnt around as much as then. I can see why getting someone u love, their name tatooed. Cos their blood is in u so the ink will be in you now so. It has defintly changed

I have always wondered why we as humans seek pain. Whether it is a tattoo, drugs, alcohol. With tattoos you go in knowing it is going to hurt like hell and you pay someone lots of money to do it to you. This is similar to alcoholics or drugs except the pain comes later. How many people self medicate instead of working the trauma out.

Tattoos aren't a "What's best?" thing. That opinion belongs to the one who has it in their skin. Tattoos are at their core an incredibly personal art. And even then I don't think any one tattoo can be called "the best tattoo".

Kacey Smith Yeah, haha, probably not the smartest question. I guess I was just thinking like what is the most iconic tattoo (like those tattoos of anchors, my Grandpa's old friend had one when I was a kid and I remember thinking it was really cool).

+Big West Haha the only dumb question is the one that doesn't get asked my friend. I couldn't really tell you what the most iconic tattoo is.

+Big West If you look at any art form there isn't a singular 'iconic' peace that represents it. Art is very personal and subjective, that's like asking what the best colour is.

Tattoos are accepted but from a poor reason. That being that is not much about culture or what it meant at one point only that its tempting to get one because its what people hype up. Same thing with clothes. It's hard to find something pure or something done with pure intentions

He didn't say that, He said the tv shows like miami ink make it seem like big tattoos take 10 minutes with no pain, Bc of the the editing. Bc obviously the tv show isn't going to show the actual full length it takes to do a sleeve.

***** What are you talking about? thats exactly what my comment says..The guy that 1st commented said "damn bro dude is hella fast giving people sleeves in 10 minutes" and thats not what the guy in the video said, so i replied with what the guy was actually saying which is, Tv shows like Miami ink make it seem like big tattoos dont take long bc they only show about 10 minutes of the process. the point is some tv shows make it look like tattoos take a short amount of time but really they take a lot of hours.

Every tattoo I have tells people a little story about my life and what captures me. If you want a tattoo..fine, it is your body & nobody should tell you otherwise, but if the tattoos you posses hold no meaning what is the point. You should never get a tattoo just because it looks cool, and it's an obsession nowadays. People, especially teenagers are going about this all wrong, and eventually I hope this mad obsession comes to an end in the nearby future.

Generally I agree with this, and especially feel that tattoos with meaning will be regretted far less, though I do think there are exceptions to the rule. I have 4, soon to be 5, and the one that has no meaning at all is my favourite. (a lily on my foot). Because it had no personal meaning to me I thought about it for about 5 years before getting it done, but once I did, I loved it. Still has no meaning, but I love it so much!

Well, then it does have meaning...it has meaning in the sense that you love it & took the time out to think about getting it. @hannahsvideoplaylist

thats your opinion, tattoos dont have to have meaning, they can be art that you love or a style of tattooing you like

LetEmTalk2011 doesn't that mean that there is a meaning behind it? i mean if you were to get some art on you for life wouldn't it mean that you have a story of how you found that artist and what it means? like the meaning would simply be you like it enough to commit to it and have it tattooed? i know what you mean though

I have five tattoos. Four of those are small. Two of my tattoos have got great meaning to me. One celebrates my late mother's life, the other celebrates the roots of my culture and as well as a culture I've lived in for a while all at once. Then I have a small heart that symbolises love (love for my family and friends). The other ones are two small stars. They don't have the same meaning as the other ones, but I love my stars and find them really pretty.
