DUPE QUEEN! Jen your dupe videos are the BEST on KZbin. A lot of people make dupe videos and I find myself shaking my head because more often than not, they aren't really dupes. Thank you, Jen, for telling the public right off the bat you can’t really dupe skincare. Even if you found two products, with the exact same ingredients, in the exact same order, we still don’t know the percentages of those ingredients. More importantly, we don’t know the formula of either product. And formula is King!

You are in good company, there is a great channel called the Budget Dermatologist and she is a great teacher with great recommendations, many of which you cite here. Ever since I switched my routine to her suggestions 2 months ago, I see a big difference and have gotten 6 compliments on my skin which never happened before. Many of your dupes are her recs, so you have a doctor backing you up! If you feel worried about pronouncing things in different languages, Google translate, and all the translation apps have an audio feature, where you can hear how to say it. Very useful and easy to find. I have have been speaking French for the past 64 years (I partly grew up in Provence)so I hope I can help. L’ Occitan= Lauks-ee-tahn (with the n very soft) Maison= meh-zohn, with the n left in the back of the mouth, it is pronounced but it doesn’t get past the middle of your palate. The French language is like the people who speak it, only half is said and it is very mysterious! Great video, thank you!

What a great series of dupes. Nice job and fantastic research, Jen. I, too, was hesitant to trust ELF with skin care but the hydration creams and cleansers are fantastic in my opinion. They aren’t too heavy or noticeably scented either. I just happened to be using the ELF melting balm when you were talking about it in this video. I would buy this by the bucket if they sold it that way, but I *think* you said that it isn’t scented. I have to disagree here…It is definitely scented heavily. It smells “clean” or like laundry to me and not perfumed, but it is scented enough to that I was afraid to get it near my eyes at first. The fragrance doesn’t bother my skin (normally, scented things do) and it doesn’t burn my eyes, but it is definitely very heavily scented. I order it 5-at-a-time and have it shipped to the house, so I am very familiar with the hydration line. LOL. Oooh. Also, I am pretty sure that Dr. Jart is Korean, not Japanese? I’d be VERY surprised if they collaborated on a skin care product, but I’ve been wrong before and I’ll be wrong again, so…Thanks for the great content!!!

Hi Jen, Dr. Dray says it is a myth that retinol makes skin more sun-sensitive. She says it actually boosts the skin’s defenses against UV rays and other assaults. But she does say we’re wasting our time and money on retinol if we don’t wear sunscreen every day. I loved your makeup balm demo by the way!
@JenPhelps2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Maureen! And it's true, Retinol by itself doesn't cause sun sensitivity but from what I understand it is exfoliating your skin and the new skin underneath may be more delicate and prone to burning, so it would still be a good idea to wear sunscreen to protect it. 🥰

Exactly! Retinol is skin-renewing. You skin is now Baby Skin and very susceptible to sun damage, and must be cared for accordingly.

Ohmygoodness! SO, about 18 months ago i decided i would start using an undereye cream due to increase in fine lines and wrinkles. I landed on the neutrogena and a saw a difference for the better in about 3 to 4 weeks. I was so pleased with the results!! That s when i decided i could probably get even better results with more expensive/high end products, dropped neutrogena ..and paid a fairly heavy price for it, and not just in money! The skin in my undereye area just kept getting thinner and dryer, dark circles began to appear where there were none before, my eyes began to look sunken in due to rapid loss of collagen, etc.. 👀👀 I eventually gave up on this silly and expensive side trip, repurchased the neutrogena, and am now happy to report that only 3 weeks into it and my undereye area is looking far more hydrated and brighter again! Both the fine lines AND deeper wrinkles that were developing are now "vanishing", and i am one happy camper! I wont be making the same mistake again, that s for sure. Its neutrogena all the way for this lady from now on! :D Edit: Im okay with the skin on my eye lids getting thinner but I was developing some weird texture there, as well .. the neutrogena retinol sa eye cream is helping minimize that too, thank goodness!!

Ooh which Neutrogena product was it? I used to use them a while back also but I think they have a few undereye products.

I adore the granactive retinoid products by Pacifica. I know some people with sensitive skin have issues with some Pacifica products, but since I don't have that issue I actually enjoy some of the essential oils. Their Clean Shots though are available with Retinoid and Bakuchiol, and I really loved their 5% formula. I also love their Wake Up Beautiful line of retinoid products. I love the entire Holy Hydration line by e.l.f. and the spf moisturizer has been a game changer for me when my skin is feeling dryer,, especially because I do not like the feeling of the layers with seperate sunscreens. I really haven't met any of the Holy Hydration line I don't love, although I am excited to try their new Pure Skin line. Not for the "clean" aspect, but for the formulation. One thing I do is I mix The Ordinary's caffeine eye solution with the Holy Hydration eye cream. They mix perfectly, and I keep it in a different pot for when I feel like a thinner eye care product than the cream. I do like Bliss and Versed a lot though also... I've had a lot of luck with their products also...

Hi Jen, I discovered your channel about a week ago. I love your dupe videos! I'm considering a Beauty Pie membership now, LOL. I'm sure you've already tried many things for dry skin. But thought I'd share another tip/item. My husband's hands are so dry they crack open often. The best thing for him, and for me, although my skin isn't quite that dry, is The Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream. When they say a tiny dab works they aren't kidding. When my husband needs to heal his hands quick, he washes his hands and leaves them slightly damp then puts a dot of that cream and rubs it in. It's only tacky for less than a minute but works wonders on the skin. My husband hates any kind of lotion or cream, so unfortunately as soon as his hand is better, he stops using it. Love your content and thank you for giving us more affordable dupes!

I only just started delving into skincare so this is helpful. I too have been hearing good things about that elf moisturizer. I'm older now but in the past 5+ years have been pretty sensitive when it comes to moisturizer. I was using the Clinique moisture surge bc after trying a bunch it was the only one that didn't break me out. The cost tho was killing me. It's one thing to maybe splurge on an item that will last a long time but I go thru cleansers/moisturizer. I'd incorporated some things from The Ordinary so decided to also try their moisturizer. I was pleased to find it's been good. I will however now try the Elf when I'm in need again. Tyvm. I actually was using the Elf cleansing balm for quite a while. Tried an oil I saw from Physicians Formula recently. While I do like that one, it's a bit thick for my tastes. Just picked up a balm from Good Molecules & really liking it ATM.

Look into the brand Serious Skin Care. I love the brand. And there not that expensive for the wonderful products you get.

I have used their glycolic cleanser for many years and I hope to find a dupe. I tried the Loreal glycolic cleanser and although it is nice, it doesn’t not compare to the results me and my sister get from the serious skin care one. What products do you use from that brand???

Thank you for the day pass info. I have never been able to pull the trigger on Beauty Pie. The day pass is the option I was looking for. My alternative was buying K Beauty through Avon, but with all the bad press about MLM’s, I always feel uncomfortable when using that option.

I love Beauty Pie! I buy my mother the skin care products. I love their lipsticks and lipliners. Good stuff. I have to thank you because it was one of your videos when you first discovered Beauty Pie that caught my interest! Much thanks!
