I love watching the Doctorly channel and Michelle LabMuffin beauty! Another channel I really enjoy is Dr. Sam Ellis. I've been watching her for years, and her videos are very informative, honest, and evidence-based. I am so proud of her skincare line Prequel and how effective, gentle, and no-nonsense it is. When I'm dealing with any sort of skin issue, I combine Doctorly and Dr. Sam Ellis's videos to gather information from multiple dermatologists. I appreciate that while sometimes the individual product recommendations may differ, but the underlying core advice is the same. Michelle Wong's book is on my Christmas wishlist, and I'm really looking forward to reading it!

Dr Sha's and Dr Maxfield's hyperpigmentation video was a godsend for me. It explains the physiology beautifully and the steps to treat it at each stage. The hyperpigmentation pyramid was my skincare bible.

I've atopic dermatitis and usually I manage it well, it gets worse during colder months. And the "treat it like it's fked" is amazing tip for this too. Soothing, calming and barrier repair are the 1st priority. Only then the "actives" and usually I look for the weaker versions (eg. vit C esters and not pure ascorbic acid etc). The worst thing you can do to your skin is keep it irritated for prolonged time. Treat it like it's a baby and you'll be golden!

As a licensed esthetician, I will slightly disagree that toners and essences are the same, at least in the US. In my professional opinion, anything containing witch hazel, which is a very common ingredient in toners, is an astringent and should not be used by people with dry skin. An “essence” which would be more like a “serum water” would be what I would recommend instead and should not contain witch hazel! Here in the US it is still very common for companies to have witch hazel as the base for toners. Love you and your videos James ❤️❤️💕

Stamping my skin with Banish pen totally ruined my skin. It left me with permanent texture of my skin, which looks as if I had large pores, but in reality it's those tiny holes from stamping that just didn't heal properly.
@LarissaGoodrich1Ай бұрын
I’d do a chemical peel to correct this issue.
@ohmyg1932Ай бұрын
Im planning on buying a Dr Pen sterile system, but now you gave me doubts. Why do you think it ruined your skin??
@AlgPortfolioАй бұрын
@@ohmyg1932 I researched it. Apparently, microneedling is not suitable for all skin types. So looks like my one wasn't suitable. On one side you won't know until you tried, on the other side it might be too late when you figure it out 🥲. I actually stepped in same hole twice. First time when I noticed it, I stopped using it. But then I watched all those positive reviews from KZbin, a whole leap of tutorials and decided to try again... I guess, I hoped that it should work the same way for everyone. Unfortunately, as a result of that my skin got even worse. Funny enough, I also have a microdermabrasion machine and I didn't have good results with it either...though tempted to try it again, but very nervous. With microneedling I'm done.

I've been using the Qure microneedling for a month now- so 2x. I feel it does get annoying before I finish my whole face. Also in a 2 month supply, they only gave me 2 needle heads, so I'm assuming I'm supposed to use each 2 times.

Is the mirconeedling system safe for skin of color? I had one inoffice microneedling session with RF, and it was totally a disaster! I developed severe hyperpigmimtation and white bumps all over the needles marks I learned later that the doctor went super deep for my skin tone. That was 2 years ago. l. Knowing the benefits of microneedling, I want to give it another chance with a gentle approach. And I am not willing to pay the hefty inoffice price to get a disaster!

You can use Tret with rosacea if you are careful! - I do! (I have Type 1) - I am very careful with it around my cheeks and I don't rub it in hard. I also do it about 4 times a week and then off 3 days to give my skin a break. And of course if I am irritated, I don't use it again until my skin calms. I make sure not to use vitamin c at night and I don't use glycolic acid on the same day as Tret, ever. Any serums I apply before Tret I apply at a minimum of 30 minutes before the Tret, sometimes longer. (And use less than you think you need!)

PS. Please fact check me, but if you research FDA approved drugs (not cosmetics), 1/3 of approved drugs, get recalled!! IMHO that is way too many!!! The FDA is not doing their one job properly. If I screwed up at my job 1/3 of the time.... I'd be terminated!!
