@@DaveyRay29 You can watch more of his videos but the main difference between V1 and V2 is in in V1 after cutting the trade you hedge it again but this time u now trading as a lower size, so it anti-martingale which is good. But V1 is after cutting the trade, instead of hedging, you balance the volume that was cut off, meaning u cost averaging trades , this was in my opinion you exit trades after and at the same time not adding any trading volume.

Hi Chad! Would love to see a Myfxbook from your account so we could see the drawdown and realised profits in a real account. Backtesting ignores lots of things like slippage, spreads, big overnight spreads that pick up hedges, commissions, swaps,... The theory is nice but please also make a video on the reality 😊

Why don't you forward test it on a demo account live for three months. See how it performs and revert back here then sharing your results. It's a control related calculated skill we are all trying to learn. Reality is even if the market and your broker hits your hedge. You are completely hedged. You will end up with a small profit off one trade and a trim off the furthest one out. Even for example if your drawdown goes up to 20% of your capital you do not have to go max trade size on a few trades until it reverses back. Smaller profits, smaller trims but your account is safe. You live to fight another day. In an ideal world we get clean winning trades and massive profits but reality is we as retail traders loose more overtime unless you are very disciplined and keep developing your strategy to the market conditions. This hedging strategy is based on mathematical probability which is more advantageous as we are not second guessing the market. There could be an issue if you are in a country like I believe the USA where you cannot hedge on the same account if there was a flash crash ( black Swan moment ) where one account moves into a high drawdown or margin call. But there are ways to control that too. For example on a 10k account max you use is 50000units or 0.50lots depending which system your broker uses. Profits are smaller in monetary value but the overall risk is dramatically reduced. Other than practicing it yourself looking at Chad's or anyone else's account doesn't matter. All our risk tolerances, emotions etc are different. Others maybe happy to have higher risk and accept 30 or 50% drawdown. And in their thinking accept that a crash will happen and margin is called. The above is only my opinion as I am not a financial adviser and cannot offer financial advise. But the simple maths would be even at 2 to 3% a month its a better return on capital than any fund , pension or savings scheme. Hope it helps

I apologize for all the confusion I've been making. I understand what's going on and see you have a great method. Like I said you've taught me a lot of different new ways to look at things and it's opening me up to some other ways of looking at the market. I'm not trying to start anything, I'm not trying to continue anything. All I'm having the issue with is when my brain hears profit and equity doesn't go up, the OCD in my mind goes awhol and it won't let it go. I get what's going on up there I just can't get it out the right way. No worries, not bringing it up again. Just makes my brain scream is all. Again I'm sorry for confusion, you have a great channel and know what you're talking about. I never said anything about fake and the whole OCD thing went way overboard. I'll keep that in check and try to ignore that part. We get about the same returns, my comment on 200% is because I'm using this on 500:1, so it works like algebra, I use the cheaper margin to afford higher draws. If I traded 50:1, it's a 20% a month average, about 7% a week.

@@beepbeep.health I'm unable to answer that because there are few things that you need to consider to figure out the answer. For example, your risk tolerance, how volatile the pair you'll be trading, what's your gap + tp parameters, do you add trades along the way...etc. The best advice, is imagine the market goes 500 pips in one direction for example (Chad mentioned this in older videos too) (a move with insignificant pullbacks), divide that 500 by how many trims (gap+tp of the profitable trades) you would have had, and see how much drawdown you are left with (and if you added more trades along the way, find out their DD too). You see, that's why I cannot tell you with a definitive answer, but I can only give a framework to use to arrive at YOUR answer. I hope it helps.

Could you manipulate/manage a flat state and if so how? Thanks again for your video's and thanks for contributing to the eco system. Steve
@Tradefy
@Tradefy 5 ай бұрын
Seems like he is gone but I will answer it for you. You can only go flat if you have a 'runner' and take the profit of the runner to close the hedged positions in loss, thats the only way to get flat. You start the cycle again, get hedged and it repeats. Always consider that as soon as you get hedged, you incur a 1R loss and then you have the news events where you can slipped hard if your hedge for example gets triggered with a huge spread which could dramatically increase your losses.( You could mitigate this effect by entering the hedge before the news event though) The key with this strategy is to get as many clean trades as possible or just take a real SL like a man and retry, so you don't need to mess around with trade management. Its a fatal illusion if you think this strategy is the holy grail but definitely it could be good for your psychology, however it also comes with the price that you are more or less always exposed in the market, which could also affect your psychology in a negative way. Additionally you could be tempted to take trades you shouldn't, especially if you are getting hedged multiple times and your drawdown is large. Its very easy to blow up the account then.

Would it be safe to assume, that you're 90% wrong in your direction and it makes no difference if you're going long or short? Would it make more sense then to simply open a long and a short position and avoid the waste in the middle? What are the stats?

hi chad, i would like to ask about the formula in your hedge calc, whats the basis for identifying the amount to keep, using units divided by 1000 vs lots divided by 100? hoping you answer this
@theforexhedge
@theforexhedge 7 ай бұрын
Yes. In units divide by 1000. Units I would multiply by 100. For example 50,000 units divide by 1000 = 50.00. .5 lots multiply by 100 = 50.00. (50,000 units = .5 lots). Hope this helps

Hi Chad. How confident are you to be able to chatch the 6am candle at the end of the video in real life conditions? It seems to be connected to some newsevent? It might be that there would be a gigantic spread situation which doesn't allow to take profit at all or not enough.

I wake up at 5am everyday. So for me. It’s pretty likely. I would recommend backtesting time frames that are very likely for you. Something you are confident in repeating.

@@theforexhedge Yes. It would be 2.30 PM here in Europe, I would definitively be trading then. My concern is more spread, slippage and very fast moving market in certain conditions. So, if that candle is indeed a rubberband one around news release (US CPI), I think there could be a possibility that I would not be able to close in profit, trim opposite position and buy at the market fast enough. It depends on volatility. No criticism, just something to consider when backtesting. In general I think your strategy is one of the best. Gives you great control over your capital. So, thanks again to bringing the idea to the world ✌👍

Live trading I pre-plan all of my trades. I plan what position will be up 40 pips, and how many pips out my trim position will be. I already know how many units I'll trim long before the time comes to execute. This may help you speed up the process. Two clicks with the mouse and I'm back to watching candles move. @@davida980

Hi Chad and everyone, I have a problem with the fact that my position is always 1000 pips away, even though I keep trimming. What to do in such a case? Or how to avoid it? Another problem is that if I hold those positions for a long time, I have a large swap, which slowly takes away the profits.

Hi Chad! Binged your videos and you are such a great presenter it clicked so easily for me - don't tell too many people🤣I'm knee deep in fxreplay and had a couple of questions: 1. I can make my hedges go on forever by always trading to capacity - what is your advice here and when do you decide to trim and close the hedge finally? 2. What maths do you do to decide your capacity/lot size? Your examples use a $10k account and 1 lot capacity but with 1 lot you can easily find yourself in 10-20%/$1-2k floating loss - do you worry about that or just keep the floating loss to a certain level by trimming and squeezing?

Lovely. Looks like the video ended abruptly, or was it just me? Responding to what you said at the end about 3 - 5% monthly profit, I assume that's due to the swap fees and trading commissions, taxes? So those of us not in the USA and who do not have these fees should be able to make something in the range of 15 - 20%?? My broker allows me to trade without swap fees, commissions and taxes. Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks @forexhedging

Seeking your wisdom--Over thousands of trades market movements are random--so we can assume that smaller distances are more likely to get filled back and forth(say 30 pips) compared to bigger distances (say 60 pips)--so we want to nail larger distance when ever market LUCKILY gives that larger move & still control drawdown. So if pair has daily ADR of 100 pips, expect to see enough filled orders at the end of the week. Academic literature has never researched this fact which can make $$ for ivory towers MEN.

USD is converted to CAD, 100,000 units is not 10$ per pip, Its around 67cts. Meaning you need 1.33 lots to equal 100,000 units. I know you know this Chad and i know this but many do not understand pip value, Just curious why you are using 100,000 units = 10$ per pip. Also are you basing the gap entry from 30-20 pips based upon the current volatility?

It seems like you just fade the price a lot when you feel like it and it works out. Would be cool to hear more about how you decide to enter.
