Ah Chad. This was your best video so far! If someone cannot calculate his R he should not trade at all... so true. For many naive traders I think the most important message is: to be profitable you need a clean trade or good squeezing. I got the impression that some really thought hedging is some kind of voodoo which alleviates fundamental math and market rules ;-)))
@tajender_singh Жыл бұрын
Well said. But I still think that the message is not conveyed very clearly. It is a non-traditional way to trade, so I feel the naive questions don't make them naive traders. They'll eventually figure it out. And I feel Chad could also maybe make a video clearing it up that the only way you make money is by clean trades and squeezing hedges. Cause when Chad says, "Put it in your pocket", people assume that it is profit. When it is just converted drawdown.

This seems to work pretty well on crypto. I'm currently practicing hedging on bitunix, sometimes on major assets like XRP, sometimes on things that just volatile for the day. Depending on the instrument, you can go considerably smaller than even a micro lot for practice purposes. The thing I like about this compared to forex is 24/7 trading with no worries about time; great for a person with a circadian rhythm disorder like myself haha - wake up whenever, trade. Good content!

I like the hybrid method. When you start getting sweaty palms, just trade the opposite position size and not max out margin. For the newbies, start small, like 10x smaller than you originally thought, you can always add more later. This version of hedging is BY FAR less pull your hair out, sleepless night ridden, constantly checking your account way of trading, its more like a business. The only rule, when hedged, keep it balanced, don't let an unbalanced pair get out of hand. Get a trading view account, put a line at 40 pip profit, add an alert, do not have to set a take profit (can if you want to), and nexflix and chill as the kids say.

If your Risk is 2% of your account, lets say you have a 10k account like shown in this example and a SL of 20pips, you would loose 20% of your account balance if you get hedged 10x in a row and didn't have a clean trade, whereas a clean trade would give you a 4% or even a higher profit, depending where you take a profit. You need to know your winrate and average RRR of your system, so you can exactly find out how much you can Risk per trade and what your max DD would be.

However it would be interesting to see if it is more profitable to keep in mind not only the 20/40 20/50 ratios and include into the picture supports and resistances (the human touch as you once called this) so for example instead of opening a position after 20 pips maybe it would be better to wait a bit and open it after 24pips seeing after 22 pips there was a resistance

Thanks for making a video on DrawDown. Now atleast you have a video to point to when people ask for it😂 So I was wondering since this strategy is purely mechanical. Meaning you dont have to look at the price action bias and just trade without ever observing where the market is going overall. It could go either way and you make or loose money. What I'm wondering is, if instead of going strictly by 20:40pips method of where you are currently hedged but just wait for the bias for a better position where you see the market is more likely to reverse and take profits there and put a stop Hegde there so you can atleast have a higher probability of not picking up the hedge and make some money. Because at the end of the day you only make money when either you have a clean trade or you don't pick up a hedge while squeezing. So your ultimate goal should be to maximize these variables. This is what I believe hedging with Capacity was trying to achieve. Where you still are looking at the market and making a decision to either go with the trend or catch a reversal and make money while doing so. Would love to see you make a video on this. Thanks!
@AdeposiOkupe Жыл бұрын
I agree. Though, however Chad's method still makes money even with the low probability guess, because the market must go one way or the other. I guess if you wait for higher probability setup, you will have less trades. And having more trades with lower probability setup may still come out more profitable. Just my thoughts but one would have to test it out to see
@theforexhedge Жыл бұрын
I totally agree with both of you. This is where the trader needs to take a roll in the trade. It would almost be impossible to make a video showing support and resistance levels and then trimming. It would be a lot. that being said, on my live account I 100% trade levels that give a better chance of a clean trade and pull back. This is why trading to capacity works. you get to enter trades around your levels you like. You guys just leveled up!!!
@tajender_singh Жыл бұрын
@@AdeposiOkupe Yeah, I mean I'm not totally disregarding Chad's method. I would like for you to entertain this scenario please. Let's say we are hedged both sides in a trending Market. In this case the spread keeps increasing without ever giving us a chance to squeeze the hedge. We just end up trimming it until the margin call, because the drawdown keeps increasing. And catching a Market Reversal becomes difficult because you are not entering from support or resistance levels it's an arbitrary 40:20 pips at random. To catch that we'll have to build from inside, which won't be possible if we are hedged at maximum capacity. So my point is.. all else equal in this strategy focus on the variables that are actually making us money. Which are Clean Trades, or Skipping Hedges/Squeezing. So we need to try to maximize these variables cause at the end of the these are what makes us money and not the actual Hedges. And how do we do that, by entering with high probability areas, ie. Support and Resistance. I feel this is the best use case for a hedging strategy. You get the best from both worlds. Security of Hedges and Maximum profits from Price action analysis. Thanks:)
@tajender_singh Жыл бұрын
@@AdeposiOkupe actually Less is More. I'll tell you why less number of trades is better. The more trades you take the more Hedges you pick which adds up to your drawdown. You'll have to earn more, to compensate for that (ie get clean trades or squeeze, which is harder with low probability setups). If clean trades and squeezing is the only way we gain profits, shouldn't we focus on ways to maximize that? By entering/exiting from higher probability areas. Cheers!
@tajender_singh Жыл бұрын

Sir, Your ideas are brilliant. Would you recommend to keep size of new order constant & just add orders up/down depending upon market moves(shows its hands, no guess work involved)--same TP size & same hedge level for each new order.
@theforexhedge Жыл бұрын
I would not recommend equal sizes and run a grid strategy. I think looking for support and resistance still makes sense to get the best clean trades and some squeezing along the way
@navketan1965 Жыл бұрын
Seeking your wisdom--Over thousands of trades market movements are random--so we can assume that smaller distances are more likely to get filled back and forth(say 30 pips) compared to bigger distances (say 60 pips)--so we want to nail larger distance when ever market gives that larger move & still control drawdown. So if pair has daily ADR of 100 pips, expect to see enough filled orders at the end of the week. Academic literature has never researched this fact which can make $$ for ivory towers MEN. @@theforexhedge

There isn't magic to this. When you hedge, you are postponing loss (unrealized pnl) until you get the predictions right. If you try to automate his approach, you soon realize that it sort of seems martingalish Suppose he is in 10 losing streaks, drawdown would be significant. it can blow an account 😢 Though, to be fair this is true for most strategies take trade -> hedge -> take trade -> hedge, with hedging you can decide when to take bets. So this is good risk management tactic for discretionary traders. Great video 😊
@AdeposiOkupe Жыл бұрын
So the question is what would happen if you were using a hard SL and got 10 losing streaks? I think the benefit here is hedging gives you option and time to plan, adjust and decide how you want to trade. In extreme instances, you could also decide to fund your account to reduce the drawdown. It's math, but there's still rooms for a lot of nuance in how one manages the positions. My 2 cents please

Secondly, I agree with you, for currency pairs 10 pips is too small and 30 to big, from my back tests, 20 pips is the sweet spot. However, for gold traders, from my back tests, 30 pips is the sweetspot and either way with a 1:2 RRR

I feel stupid for asking but when I use Fx Replay with a 10.000 dollar account and I try to enter 100.000 units under the Position Size it wont let me, it seems stuck on $ mode or something, somehow it only lets me enter 8500 dollars it seems. I can't find the option to trade in units anywhere. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what my stupid ass is doing wrong? Would appreciate the help very much!

Maybe im mistaken but for some reason i am more profitable with the 10/50 style of hedging. I find that if you are wrong about the market 10 usually goes 20 anyway so might as well hedge at 10 pips. Also makes me more relaxed to let the market run because it’s just 10 pips who cares then i trim after a while. Thanks bro for awesome videos.

Depends on what pair you’re trading. I personally trade GU and 10 pips is kinda tight.
@raduciopraga2752 Жыл бұрын
@@valicojo5291interesting you mentioned GU i actually had tested the 10/50 on GU. It made like 1% in 12 days in backtesting with a max capacity of 0.5 lots. But while 10 pips looks tight i usually wait for some type of rejection on 15m chart when it goes 50 pips in profit im not exiting instantly. I use funded accounts so i need that DD be very tight. My max DD in that test was 1%. Then everything worked out very fast. On day 9 i had 1% DD and day 12 instantly i was up 1%.

I think figuring out how many pips the SL and TP is more important than draw down. Not getting hedge early then make a squeeze will make the draw down lesser and lesser.
@Wesmoen Жыл бұрын
Only two reasons why instant hedging is annoying. -no clean trades -when the space between orders is so big, the trims are less useful. Other than that you can trim quite an amount. On shorter tp and hedge gaps, it's easier to instant hedge.

Hi Chad, For range bound its easy to mitigate but what if the pair keeps moving for 700 pips with only small pullback? (GOLD PAIR FROM 2010 JULY).. Hope you can make a video to solve the mystery lol. A nd i believe many ppl would like to watch it..thanks
@flamehands3416 Жыл бұрын
I dont think you understand the strategy…as long as price is moving you either trade with that direction and trim outside loss. Its even better if price goes one way because you just keep buying trim short, buy trim short buy
@darrenyee9977 Жыл бұрын
@@flamehands3416 if my 0.5 lot sell trade are 300 pips gap from current price I need double size lot to offset it. So 1 lot buy and 1 lot 20 pips below hedge are triggered. Yes buy trade can terminate old sell but now u got 1 lot new sell at the top. The price keep going up after 5 cycle and I need at least 8 lot to offset old sell?? 😂
@darrenyee9977 Жыл бұрын
In order to offset old trade we must use double lot size because same lot size it's not enough since the gap already very big. If every time your buy and sell hedge triggered you'll do the math..

@theforexhedge Жыл бұрын
please do not double down. that is not the strategy. doing a martingale will blow your account. You trim the outside positions. get some margin back and then work the inside or at the market. It almost works better when you go one direction........
