I believe an apology wasn't necessary but it was appreciated. The apology probably wasn't a "LeBron I miss having you as a teammate", but more of a "I see what you were trying to tell me and do for me but I was stupid and childish". It was a nice thing to do.

It depends how that tough love is administered. Berating someone, beating down their confidence or self esteem, and/or not lifting someone up isn't tough love. I applaud Kyrie for saying he won't question his teammates again, for admitting Jaylen Brown was right, for keeping things in house, and for realizing he was once in his teammates position under Lebron. YET, as a "leader" he didn't even give his teammates any credit for the win, going on saying some teammates are fragile, that they may not get what it takes to win a championship, blah blah blah. He just can't keep it in house. He is still throwing his teammates under the bus. Last year's team gelled. They had great chemistry and rallied together, were happy for each other, and gave Brad Stevens a lot of credit. Even with this win against Toronto, they don't all look as happy. Why? Because of the bad vibes going on starting with Kyrie's criticisms and constant talk about being a leader. He has no followers. Being a great player doesn't mean you're automatically getting followers. He can give them all the assists in the world but he undercuts them with his remarks. That isn't empowering his teammates like he proclaims he does.
@dthamaestro36245 жыл бұрын
Well said.
@ci20825 жыл бұрын
This kinda triggered me so... a rant: They have all said time and time again that Kyrie is their leader and they are better with him than without him. Last year and this year. Brad said this. Jayson said this. Smart, Terry, Al, Gordon, Morris, and Jaylen have all said this! And Brad and Jayson in particular said this after the Raptors win on Wednesday night AFTER all the things he said. Last year's team that "gelled" had that incredible regular season with Kyrie there for pretty much all of it. Kyrie only didn't play in the postseason and in the last stretch of games. This "chemistry" you say they built took place when Kyrie was there playing! All of this stuff you claimed he said, was said before he apologized, the interview where he questioned his teammates after the magic loss. He threw teammates under the bus and he apologized and admitted he was wrong BEFORE he said he called Lebron. Stop portraying that he's being detrimental to his team. It's not his fault that Terry Rozier disappeared. It's not his fault that Jayson Tatum settles now for trying to be Kobe and taking unnecessary difficult shots that unlike Kobe, he can't make most of the time. It's not his fault that Jaylen Brown is playing selfishly and was fumbling at every turn until he was put on the bench. It's not his fault that after the playoffs, almost every Celtics player that did well gained a huge ego and dropped their hard work at their door. It's not his fault that he has to remind them that they can't win off of believing they are the best without playing like it. You know what is his fault? Being there to pick up the slack when the team isn't playing to their potential. It is his fault that he increases the momentum. It is his fault that he, along with Marcus Smart, brings the most heart to that team. It is his fault that he makes the most clutch game winning shots and plays down in the stretch to help his team. It is his fault that he leads by example and the traditional way. It's definitely his fault that he only wants to be a better leader for his team, even going as far as to call the NBA player he has the most controversial history with and apologize and ADMIT he didn't understand how much it takes to be a great leader back then the way he does now and even went on to ask for advice on how to be a better role model and leader for players that are young talented and inexperienced like he was once. All of this in an effort to be the leader his team needs. And you know what the funny part is? They all appreciate it. They show it. They say it. They acknowledge that he is already the leader he is trying hard to become. But of course, there are people like you who try to make it seem like HE'S the problem. SMFH. He's the working solution.

Skip's interpretation of Kyrie's apology is reaching. I understand why people would think that, but it is not as logical as Kyrie apologizing because he now realizes how hard it is to lead a team. Especially to multiple Finals and championships. Kyrie even admitted and apologized that it was out of character to call out his teammates in public. He's admitting to the public that he made mistakes and he needs to do better to be a leader. Of course, the cynic would run with Skip's interpretation.

Skip nailed it. Kyrie is arrogant then and now. He's just a pretty smooth operator. And they are being the young brats now that isn't willing to wait their turn.. So basically learn from my mistakes guys and lets win. That's Kyrie's real message and it wasn't meant for Lebron, the media or the fans.. That message is addressed directly to his young talented teammates.

Talk is cheap, but Kyrie is really trying and you see it in the actual games. He goes out of his way to get teammates involved. 18 assists last night. 18! Jalen FROWN & Co. need to adjust their attitudes. No one has sacrificed more of their game for the greater good than Kyrie, an All Star and a champion. These kids, with no resume, no track record, need to fall in line. I'm a diehard Celtics fan, watch every game, and believe me, he's NOT the problem. It would be WAY worse if he was being selfish.

Skip isn’t dumb, he’s making a pretty logical argument. PR clean up for Celtics, plus fixes beef between Kyrie and Lebron. Smart move on Kyrie’s part, but could also be of good intent
@coreythegoatbrewer50265 жыл бұрын
Right thats what this show want you to believe that skip is the crazy illogical one but its real shannon that never can read in between the lines when it come to Lebron atleast.
@Israel-nb7ip5 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Skip makes a whole lot more sense than people give him credit for. Some of his takes are for the camera, obviously, but overall when you go back and see what he's said in the past, he's been right on a lot of things. I think he's on to something here. Kyrie isn't as smart as he thinks he is.
@krishnagoli6875 жыл бұрын
Yup, Lebron’s a beast, but there’s a lot more stuff going on behind the scenes of the nba than people give credit for. Kyrie knew the media was gonna swallow this up and he could reestablish his good image at the same time. Win-win for the man
@Israel-nb7ip5 жыл бұрын
@Lorian Loth he's handling this the wrong way too by going to the media with it. This is the 2nd time in a week he's gone to the media to air out stuff about his teammates.
