First, I don't think it's a surprise that a journalist would stick up for what they consider another journalist's free speech. They've all made fun of people so they are basically standing up for themselves and their past behaviors. I think over time, this sentiment has changed in the industry and people have slowly moved away from Skip's archaic line of thinking. Secondly, Skip is a walking contradiction, and it's best to ignore him whenever possible. He has zero credibility. He clearly was hurt by Jalen Rose''s nickname and asserts athlete's should not be offended by his name calling. Laughable.

What Skip didn’t understand initially is there is a HUGE context difference between “Tragic” Johnson or Skip “Baseless” than Bosh “Spice.” Magic was called “Tragic” because his performance in the Finals was tragic. SAS called Skip “Baseless” because his arguments are occasionally baseless or without merit. They have nothing to do with them as MEN. But calling a grown man, Chris Bosh, “Bosh Spice” has zero context relating to his profession. Posh Spice is a Spice Girl. In essence, Skip was calling Chris Bosh a woman. He played like a girl. THAT is out of bounds. Keep name calling within the scope of the player’s profession. “Bosh Spice” has no objective context relating to anything Chris Bosh did on the basketball court. Other than implying he was so bad, Skip thinks he played like a woman. Sadly, men have been shot over less. But if you want the fish grease to turn into a grease fire with the wrong athlete, call him a female and see what happens. It likely will only end with his face on the 10 o’clock news, arrested.

I hope I get to meet Marcellus Wiley some day so I can personally thank him for this magnificent drubbing he dished out on national television. To say that every one of his points was logically sound, dead accurate, and substantiated with ample evidence would not do his performance justice. Mesmerizing was the brutal clarity, unflappable confidence, and the impressively cold, clinical composure with which Wiley crafted his points. He even went so far as to anticipate the ludicrous and pathetic counter-arguments that Bayless would desperately attempt to muster, so that he could rehearse precisely how best to further humiliate him. It was clear from the beginning that Wiley would not settle for compromise. He was determined to thoroughly, deservedly expose his opponent as a morally and intellectually bankrupt charlatan who crawls out of his rat hole for two hours a day in the hopes of salvaging but one ounce of the gallons of self-worth he sorely lacks. As one commenter pointed out, the producer of this show -- in a frankly un-subtle fashion -- invited Israel Gutierrez in a humane attempt to palliate the remarkably one-sided beatdown transpiring before their eyes. But nothing could stand in the way of the inimitable force that is Marcellus Wiley. Indeed, his skills as an athlete and analyst are of such impressive breadth and depth -- owing to the harmonious interconnectivity of his God-given talent, moral rectitude, and unrelenting work ethic -- that the lack of an invitation thereafter from the disreputable filth that is First Take should come as no surprise.

It's like to the media, athletes need to have a skin made of concrete but members of the media can have a skin made of glass. KingofKings You're wrong. There's no difference between Bosh Spice and Water Pistol Pete Jr. Skip watches the games and makes up names based upon his own subjective experience. If Jalen could go back in time to watch Skip he'd see Water Pistol Pete Jr. scoring 1.4 pts per game. Why would it matter what was going on behind the scenes? Did Skip know that Chris Bosh was dealing with a health issue that would lead to an early retirement?

Old episode, but what’s good for the goose is good for the gander. While that show was not done specifically for Chris Bosh’s family, Chris was not obligated to perform just so Skip would stop name calling. There has to be a self check at some point where Chris had already shown the tough skin and Skip just needed to stop himself from going there and he kept justifying why he didn’t need to do that.

Skip is of the variety of people who walk among us who will hold on to any point of view SOLELY because he does not want to be wrong. The anguish of saying 'hmm you know what, maybe name calling is a fucked up thing to do to someone and I never looked at it from that perspective' is too great a burden for this demographic of people to endure. They can't admit when they are wrong. I never liked Marcellus Wiley, never cared too much for Jalen Rose either, but the fact remains theyre point wins.

Skip only gets paid for this show. I'm sorry but bosh spice is a nickname, if you use regularly and dont use the actual name, it is a nick name. Sorry but just because your teammates say you could've averaged 18ppg at another school does not mean you could have. It's coulda, shoulda, woulda. Doesn't matter. You still scored 1.4 ppg. No coach is going to sit down a player who has 18ppg potential unless they have a guy out there who has 25-30 ppg potential, which does not seem to be the case here. Ultimately, coaches want to win because that's their meal ticket to better jobs. I don't for 1 second believe this narrative that Skip was blackballed by his coach and that's why he only score 1.4 ppg...that's just ridiculous. Also, are we just gonna forget Skip isn't even 6ft tall? The chances of him going to a top tier basketball program in college let alone the NBA is damn near 0%. So for him to act like he would've been out there lighting it up, even at a high school level, is just silly.

I also am tired of folks saying what someone from back in the day would've done if something that never happened to them did. We can't say what these guys would've done because we don't know and neither do they. As for the piece in the Oklahoman? Scoreboard he did average 1.4 pts a game. It's gone be an athlete one day that's gone say fuck it and come after him frfr. I hope it never happens but everybody ain't humble like Lebron and just let it go. Anybody that makes it to the pros in any sport is not soft by any means they go through hell to get where they are so attacking a guy character after a game, or few games, or a season is disrespectful. Lets put it like this, would you call an athlete a disrespectful name if they were able to respond to you in a physical manner without legal repercussions? A lot of these athletes come from different worlds than most of these pencil pushers in the media. If you throw any kind of disrespect on their name they are ready to fight. Throughout history words have caused fights and wars. If you aren't ready to throw hands behind your words you should be careful about what you say. How do you avoid these conversations? Keep it about the X's and O's. If you played a bad game, you played a bad game. Call it for what it was. If it continues then follow suit and call a bad performance a bad performance. Skip got what he deserved from Jalen. The 1.4 ppg stat line will never be forgotten.

@@hbathletictraining like it or not it's literally those analysts jobs to give their opinion of the game. If people really hated Stephen A and all the other people as much as they said they wouldn't be on TV anymore nor would they be the highest paid people in the industry. Regular people have been saying top tier athletes are trash since forever. Sounds like hypocritical behavior to me

@@hbathletictraining they don't do the shows for professionals athletes, they do the show for the average person who feels like these people understand the game better than they do. You NEVER watch first take? Undisputed? Or any other show with a sports analyst who didn't play the game??

I agree some athletes should grow a spine but most have one cause its a million sport shows and blogs that go in on them and handle it but these last 2 days of the show has been cause the journalist/reporter didnt have a spine and couldnt handle what Jalen said to him so if they wanna avoid athletes firing back then they shouldnt make it so personal with particular ones. He knit picks LBJ, Westbrook, Rex Ryan,, T.O. every show...thats a bit much dont u think

Stephen A.Smith USED to be a journalist, he stopped being that after becoming a regular on this show. I don't think Skip was a journalist when he was actually employed as a journalist..calling Troy Aikman GAY in a book based on hearsay!! In my original comment the main point was that Skip and Stephen A practice Yellow Journalism on TV, lying was secondary. These 2 have every right to act like STOOGES in order to get ratings/attention, just don't go on TV and deny it, you can't have it both ways

Is Marcellus trying to say his family doesn’t have batteries for the remote! I think the Jordan comment says it all. And I call Lebron (LaKaren James) because he doesn’t care about his community. Then LaKaren James does interviews and tells the world how much he cares!

How does he not care about his his community??? He donates millions a year to Akron and bought a school. Wtf are you talking about. Lebron sticks up for every situation related to Black Lives Matter and police brutality and uses his voice to try and better everyone. Micheal didn't do a damn thing for anybody but himself while he was playing basketball. His only mentality was to win, he could care less about the community. The only time he donated money is when they asked him to. Get the facts right and stop being a Karen yourself

@@christopherthames6120 you asked me a question, so I will answer. Exactly the same thing rich white liberals do! LaKaren James donates money he (earned)! Those millions he gives won’t affect his money at all! How bout LaKaren ante’s up and put some skin in the game like a real man, instead of acting like political puppet! Has he ever once wore the name of a young black man that was killed by a black person? Pay attention two the insult so that you fully understand it! Don’t be so ignorant to think that everything is exactly as it seems! LaKaren James don’t give a dam about black people or their community! Wake Up, Don’t Be Woke!!!

@@rebeccabennett6557 Hold on ofcourse he gives money he earned, what do you expect him to give his life savings to everyone lol tf he has a family to take care of to. A political puppet? Oh you must be republican or something saying that. This man has CLEARLY said that we all matter and wants equality. So he a political puppet for wanting the best for everyone and to stop police brutality and ppl killed for no reason??? No you wake up Yeah one more question. Since Lebron need to man up so much. Name me another athlete who has done more than Lebron either speaking up on things in the world or donating and giving back or going out visiting schools and speaking to kids on how to be better??? I'll wait.... Edit- N stop lying about Lebron he wore the "I can't breathe" shirt for George Floyd and he had his shoes with with "R.I.P Trayvon Martin" for that situation plus wore hoody to warmups. He has done things like this countless times. The man is trying and that's more than I can say for most ppl. You attacking the wrong ppl, you got a problem with Lebron when you should have a problem with the ppl sitting on they ass not doing nothing....unless you don't have a problem with what's going on 🤔

I don't get it. That does not mean he is lieing that means you do not agree with the way he talks about it. Stephan A is a journalist whether you like it or not, but if you lie about your facts you will not last in the journalist world. He admits that he insulted JAmarcus Russell but I hate to tel you he was justified in doing that. KWame Brown... Who does not get on a 1st overall pick and say oh he is not living up to their potential as the 1st round pick. So he can't? Really?
