I haven’t been to church in a decade. The churches in my area are not good. I learned that the body is the church and not a building. So I’m waiting on God, using discernment and not just going to any church just to go to church. Because they can be preaching the wrong thing.

I just want to say, for those hurting or feeling frustrated over church experiences or trying to find the right one, i pray for you and understand. I am currently seeking a church which i feel the lord has led me to. However, please don't let guilt etc kick in for not currently going to one. When the lord refers to his church, he is talking about his people not the building. I pray for those seeking a church family and to feel jesus presence. To be patient and not worry about judgement for not attending. God knows your heart. Keep praying for the right church wherever that's in a building or someone's home. 🙏 In Jesus name

Church isn’t a place we go to. We are the church and where 2 or more are gathered in His name, there He is. Hebrews asks us not to forsake the gathering. But nowhere in scripture are we told that we have to “go to church.”

There are truly very few valid reasons to 'skip' church. I believe that we need to be with other believers for God to be among us. I also believe it is too easy to backslide when we trust ourselves to be accountable. We need the church body & leaders & ourselves working together to share the Word of the Lord in order to stay on the path. I am Catholic (which I would assume would not go over so well with many in the comments...but be that what it may) and there are many reasons I need to be IN church with my fellow believers. I need to hear the Word of God. The many churches/denominations' responses to covid was pitiful. I had faith all along that things would work out ok, but think it was a way for our 'individualistic society' to break peoples' attendance. I have so many friends that just never came back to church. We could not go to our regular church & actually attended a Baptist church that remained open. Whenever I get to trying to justify missing church, I stop & think about all the Christians ALL over the world & thru time that could NOT freely go to the church of their choice. Or I think about times when church was held "underground".....people stay committed then, there is no excuse for us to falter or fade out. I think any denomination should be able to agree with that. I go to church to lift up my voice to the Lord, give him thanks & praise for all the goodness in the world, to Thank Jesus for dying on the cross for ME, to share my gifts with the church body whether it be singing for his glory, silently saying a prayer for the person in the pew next to me, rejoicing as a whole in baptisms, marriages, & comforting those during funerals.

I liked your video. However, you should make another video about red flags in a church. For example, the signs of a cult. There might be people who walked out of cult like churches and might hesitate to attend a new church.

I connect to online church services because where I live, there aren't good kind, loving churches. I've tried a series of churches in this area, but I have always experienced a great deal of church hurt and always come home feeling disheartened. I can't grow in my relationship with God in such a toxic environment. I've lived in this area for a long time, and cultural differences are very real, and all the churches in this area are culturally similar. I can't believe that God would call me to be in a toxic place where people treat me so poorly. This town is toxic, and it ruins my relationship with God. Sometimes it really IS the town. In spite of all this, I want very badly to belong to a church. I found an amazing church with a wonderful pastor, but I can't attend in person because it's in another state. I connect online every Sunday and I feel the presence of God speak to me through the sermons I hear. That never happens in my town. If I could live in the area, I would go in person every single Sunday. I'm grateful for the miracle of the Internet that can allow me to connect online to this wonderful church, but pray that God will deliver me from my horrible toxic town.

I know how you feel, I left the city I grew up in for this reason (among others). Attended two churches there before moving two three different cities within the past 7 years where I visited other churches, before finally finding a city where I stayed for more than 1-2 years that I now call home. Though I'm just now getting the sense that God is calling me to go back to the building called church, after 4 years of not fellowshiping anywhere locally. I pray you find the place you belong, a new city and people to fellowship with locally.

We have recently come out of the LDS faith and we haven't found a strong and theologically sound church. We church at home and use online services as a substitute. It isn't always great, but I think it's better than not getting involved at all. It's a wild season but God knows and I'm sure he will lead us to a strong church family soon. For now I LOVE my online family and community 💜

I agree I love my Church! I am a single mother of two autistic toddlers and church is a very overstimulating sensory environment, which can be very stressful on them and myself. We attend most Sundays even when it is tough and when we are unable to make it, I do tune in online. Thank you for this beautiful reminder.

I haven't skipped church for years. I go without fail. For one thing, I'm involved in the music and I'm very committed to it. I sing in the choir and with a couple of groups of people as well as duets with people and solos. So I'm dedicated. I love church because I always get a good Bible message too. Something I can say is my parent’s have been consistent with church for 20 years! They never skip church (unless there’s an illness) they’ve even been criticized by family members for attending church “too much”, skipping family functions to go to church. But I’m thankful my parents have always put God first. I’ve seen God’s faithfulness in their lives and my parent’s faithfulness to God.Unfortunately I stopped going , got too comfortable in walk 😞 I’m praying for a church that preaches TRUTH, no sugar coating! Been to too many churches and it’s all the fluffy stuff.

We are the church. Once you are saved, Jesus lives in you. Your body is the temple of God. The habitation of the most high God. So, when we go to church, which is a meeting place building, it is to worship with other believers. The bible says " Do not forget the gathering of other believers" Hence the church. It is more spiritual than we think.

My friend has been to so many churches and no one helped her even though she is chronically ill. No one reached out to help her. They help others around but not her. So she is fed up and I don’t blame her for not wanting to go to church because they break her heart.

Great video. I would add a point that simply going to church isn’t enough. Being physically in the building is a 1 of four components of going to church. when we go to church, so should our minds and hearts. many people are growing up in church sadly will later become unbelievers later in life. The longing to have a relationship with God and a deeper understanding of his word should motivate us all to want to be physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritual in the presence of God. This is the other 3 parts. When you become saved, your spirit longs for the Lord. It’s a natural feeling as one longing for water or food. That’s the power of the Holy Spirit and he seeks open hearts.

You can’t actually “go to church “ as such. In reality you, the living person, are the real church. People have substituted the church building or organization for the real church…you. Also, if going to these “churches “ helped people, Then why are they not emptying out as people come to the Truth and are set free to go live their lives?

I'm looking after my 97 year old mum at home. There is absolutely no chance I can take her to church or leave her so I can go to church. I attend The Village Church, Texas, online. My mum can't hear and her eyes are too tired with cataracts to read the Bible. I wish I knew of a way for my mum to enjoy church services. I'm praying for a way for Jesus to reach her spiritually.

I've heard of many people coming to the faith through dreams, if your mum is not a believer you could pray that the Lord would reveal himself to her in a way that she would understand (there us power in prayer)

When you suggested praying for Jesus to come to my mum in dreams, I had an aha moment and I got right on it and so did Jesus. This morning my mum told me she believes in Jesus, that He died on the cross for her sins. She has repented for her sins and asked for forgiveness. She knows Jesus rose from the dead and now sits at the right of our Heavenly Father. She has fully and completely accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. From my perspective, you are an absolute blessing. You helped lead my mum to the Lord. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I'm so incredibly grateful. You're an answer to prayers. May God Bless you. I hope to meet you with my mum in the clouds one day.

Especially since 2020, a lot of people haven’t returned to church services. The enemy is real! I feel it makes the enemy happy when we skip because it weakens us. The Bible tells us to get with other believers.

Thank you for another amazingly awesome and incredibly timely video! I haven't been skipping church but have come to realise that, though they walk in the truth and truly love the Lord, the people in my church aren't helping me to grow (we're very few in number, and they're mostly older people). I cannot fault them and find it hard to leave, but feel convicted to join a different church because I know (well I'm still praying, but I _think_ I know) that I need to surround myself with other young believers and start serving the Lord in a fuller way. I feel held back where I am, and just want to fly! I know if my motive is Christ, and if I pursue peace, I'll go with God's blessing, but it is oh so hard to leave people of God who you've grown up with, and who don't really understand why you need to go!

Just a thought - maybe you could serve the Lord in a fuller way by bringing in more young people to the church you are now. Maybe start a group or do some mission around those you already know.... Then instead of leaving your congregation you could build it up again....

@sandra d becker That's such a good thought!! I have prayed about that a lot too, but our church isn't as 'free' as others.. they have quite a few rules, which have definitely protected me from a lot and preserved me, but others don't see it that way. Despite our efforts we've had very little interest and when I asked those who _had_ shown interest why they wouldn't attend anymore, it was put down to the smallness and 'legalities', and lack of modern music & young people, or for being too traditional. I've tried to address this with my church group and ask what else we can do to welcome and encourage others, but they are happy the way they are, even if they're not growing unfortunately, and I don't feel much support from them at this point (most of them are pretty elderly and I don't blame them in any way). I suppose I'm just very isolated, and that's not what I see other people from different churches experiencing! I want to experience Jesus in a greater way, and I think I can only really do that once I find a place in a church that I feel truly at peace in. Although I do have this doubt and inner conflict that maybe I should be staying where I am to strengthen the things that remain, even though I feel pretty alone in it. So I need to seek God's wisdom in it. The devil can definitely put temptations on our minds even concerning the church, and I really don't want to be led down a wrong path where Christ isn't the centre xx

I got saved about 2 years ago. I’ve been trying to find a church and I finally found one I love. I was putting off going due to being alone with my kids (their father has to work most Sunday’s, unfortunately) but I finally over came that. This video is 5 months old, but I'm watching it now because God has already convicted my heart. I KNOW I need to go to church, I KNOW I need Christian community. It's very much easier said than done for me to go to church even though I WANT so badly in my heart to go, to be a part of a good Christian community, and to serve others. There's a wonderful Pastor in another state that gives services that I absolutely love. He digs into the Bible and makes me WANT to be in the Word every day. I was raised Catholic and never knew that the Bible could be so life changing! I live in a very rural area where I am unable to find a church that can offer me what this Pastor can. I do miss the people of the church but I really think this is better for me.

I want so badly to go to church but it's so hard because I'm deaf, and I live in a very small town and the churches around us don't provide interpreters. I settle for going on zoom with my friends, and we watch a live with an interpreter, but it's definitely not the same

Luke 7:22 "So he replied to the messengers, “Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor." I'm sure that you have read this verse before. These are the very words of Jesus, Himself. My church went online when covid hit. We have alot of older members and after covid some stayed home and watched online. Slowly members are coming back. I'm the covid coordinator and a first responder so I understand the fear of getting sick. The reason being is last year we had a brunch for our Pastors anniversary for the first time since covid and the result was me doing contact tracing because there was a covid outbreak. Thank God I was at my daughters graduation.

I really like Hillsong because their services are Saturday night because of the time change. I'm not a morning person. I know I'm missing out not going in person. There's a van that comes, but I've never gone.

You’re correct hun and t. y. I know I’m wrong on this but my husband and then dad past away and I’ve visited a couple churches and both were imo too worldly. Going alone made me not go. I asked God just yesterday to guide me to the right church and it came to me there is a church I liked when raising my family. I am going there this Sunday. Since I’m much closer with God these days, I know I should get out there and mingle. Thx for video, it seems like a confirmation and I’ve decided to just go by myself. Holy Spirt must be there and a good minister like pastor of Calvary Chapel in Ontario Oregon I watch online. I also like John MacArthur and yes I’m a Calvinist. The Baptist seem too regimented and dress up which I don’t wear dresses. Pentecostal churches are okay but over emotional. Finding a full gospel church that is fairly close in Detroit metro area is difficult but Grace Community by my job is what I like. Full gospel, Holy Spirit and sound Biblical teachings. On KZbin I searched Christian books on tape and been loving listening to some ministers books from the 1800s lol they’re so close to scripture that you wouldn’t know they’re speaking from so long ago. I like variety of Biblically sound ministers. Andy Stanley just passed away and I like his delivery oh God’s word. His son is a bit different from him. Joyce being a woman is good but being a woman myself I just feel odd listening to women preach. 3 KZbin content creation like are “a Frisch Perspective”, “BTWN” and “The Beat by Allen Parr”. I also listen to “Got questions”. Sorry so long lol I just love God and so thankful for Him.

I found a church I LOVE through livestream. The church is 47mins away from my house. I want to attend in-house services with my daughter. She’s 18mo and on a feeding tube, so I’ve been hesitant as I don’t want to disturb the others if her pump goes off or if she’s getting rowdy :/

I can't speak for the people at your church, but I personally would not care AT ALL about noisy medical devices, and babies are one of the best parts of church! If they don't accept you and your daughter because of the noise you can't control, they're not a good church family.

It’s not that I feel disconnected, I have a really big problem with ppl. Why can’t ppl just be real? Honest? And truthful? And the church is full of ppl who are not these things. Especially concerning church. I don’t deal well with that. Honestly, I would rather just sit in the stillness and quietness of my room and read my Bible and all those things. In the world I try my best to be a good person, but it’s so hard.

It's sad that when one's disabled everybody stops caring about them. My friend is a cancer patient, she's not even 30 yet. She was serving very well for her church and since she was diagnosed, she was forgotten. 😢 I try to stay in touch as much as possible but I often feel like I'm the only one.

In the "How to find a good Church" section, I would not only say, "find a church that's grounded in God's word" but also find a church that is a BIBLE based non-denominational church If you find a church that's a bible based church (aka "name of city" Bible Church. Example: "San Antonio Bible Church") you've got it made!

I do think it’s good to go to church but as someone who goes to a very small church and live in a small town where people are not really interested in church all together I do have to say opening up church as an option online has increased the number that hears our church’s sermons. Seeing it online is better then nothing at all in my opinion at least they are willing to listen then ignore all together!

I am assuming this video is mostly for those living in the USA? What do you do if you live in a country with no churches that have a faith statement that aligns with the word of God? Or nonchurches at all? I understand the heart of this video and I understand that going to a physical church building is not possible for people in many countries and even within the USA. God promises to make himself known to the church, as you said when two or more are gathered in His name He is in their midst. This does not mean a physical building it is the body of Christ, the gathering of people who make up the church. If I were to gather with two or more believers right now we would be the church. The building up of God's church is beyond the church building especially since in so many countries church is the gathering of people who study the Bible and worship the most high God. If it is possible to be in a Bible believing church what a lovely way to fellowship and worship God. I write this just to encourage those who are in a situation where they cannot attend a physical church. I like your videos, Ashley and I pray God keeps using you for His glory 🙏

Jesus never went to church. I went to church all my life, and at 55, I dont go anymore for quite a few reasons. I can't find one church in my town that doesn't have a full-on band, blasting loud music at a decibel that deafens me. The pastors wear blue jeans, one even with holes. The women dress like prossys, and the message is very watered down. I prefer to have home church and meet with friends like Jesus did. I won't attend a church whose music, in my opinion, is not reverent.

I’m sorry to hear you have had some hard and what sounds like frustrating things happen at church. At the end of the day, what matters is if the gospel is being preached and the Word of God is proclaimed. The style of clothing and music are preferences that can sometimes be distractions that cause bitterness in our hearts - and can keep us from experiencing the joy of the local church.

I had a similar experience. It felt like a popularity contest or rock show rather than church- and I’m in my 20s! I never returned after no one ever acknowledged me or tried to help me get connected. The fog machine during singing was the last straw.

The church I visit online keeps God’s biblical sabbath which is Friday sunset to Saturday sunset. I thank Jesus for helping me leave the Sunday church I was once in.

Its best if you go to a LIVING Church (Church where the Holy Ghost is ALWAYS present). Most church buildings are fallen (Bryan Denlinger has videos concerning most church buildings). Obviously the church is the people NOT the building. Let GOD guide you to which church you should go attend. Make sure that the pastor teaches sound doctrine because if the pastor acts ecumenical, he's pastor is yoked up with Rome. Be on the look out for Jesuit coadjutors (both spiritual and temporal coadjutors) & Vatican operatives.

Totally disagree with you. Jesus preached/teached in open fields as well as brick & mortar. Jesus is more concerned with out belief and trust in Him aka "Faith", (that can only come by studying the Bible, carrying out the Bible (including tithing), and spending one on one time with Him). Paul is a perfect example. If your spirit self and The Holy Ghost are gathered together that makes 2.The definition you gave is man's definition not GOD's. Bottom line GOD wants your focus 7 days a week whether your in church or not. The Church is us not a building.

I have noticed that families have a hard time finding ways to include their children with disabilities in the church. It’s the reason I stay home as well. Sadly these families need the church. Something for new young ministers to think about. Our children have much to teach about unconditional love and patience and kindness but they are vocal and active and can’t necessarily fit into a regular sermon environment so we become excluded. How can we be included and seen. Not a judgement but a real question.
