I have the OG Girsan Witness 9mm that came out probably less than two years ago, and it definitely had some trigger issues. I had to send it back for them to repair, but this one definitely looks solid. Looking forward to seeing your finishing touches on it!

I must say I’m loving that you are sharing these budget builds. I have had the pleasure to shoot very high end 2011’s like atlas, sand viper , nighthawk, and such and own several mid tier guns like wt Apache, Mpa ds9, but love my budget builds like my Apollo build.not everyone wants to spend 4k on a 2011. Short list of 2011 pick ups for 2025 are the new Jacob grey two hex, kustomworxs defender 4.25, and new up coming Alfa foxtrot Romulus 3.25 comp.

I been on the fence about all these darn guns Skip has reviewed. I bought a Prodigy sold it because I didn’t want to do all the upgrades ($). I just told myself that I was going to spend around $2500 no more and it came down to a Staccato P or Jacob Gray. I got the TWC9 for $2k flat.

I messaged Skip a while back which 1 he would buy if he had to chose just 1 the Staccato P or the Jacob Grey he said the Staccato P well I bought the Jacob Grey and love it so much I thought well if he said the Staccato was better and I figured really things can be better so I bought the Staccato also well it is out being upgraded right now not that it was bad the Jacob Grey will be going out also. Dont get me wrong the Jacob Grey is a badass weapon and love it.

So a Witness 2311 was my 2nd foray into the DS 1911 game, just before getting the MAC 9 DS that I had you do a trigger job on. I'm not going to lie, the gun was definitely not manufactured on the level of the the others in this price point, but after sending it to Cosaint for V-8 porting, a trigger job with Wilson Combat internals and all for the cost of a stock Prodigy at the time. It runs like a typewriter and is a great performing gun. However, it was not an impressive gun out the box. Now I love it. I was lucky because I know people who had horrible experiences with theirs. I will be interested in seeing how this performs against the Alpha Foxtrot or new MAC 9 DS 5" that's ported.

I've been drooling over this guns announcement for the last 6 months. Also that is the Match X, the Match is just a normal 5" barrel. Now I'm just waiting for the MAC 9 DS Comp release to see how they compare so I can just pick one already...I wish both could be an option lol

I've read and seen the gamut on Girsan pistols, which is fairly natural for products in this industry spanning the breadth of affordable/entry level to approaching higher end (maybe 'prosumer'). That said, the bulk has been positive about Girsan's house-made pistols versus their pattern guns, and I'm all for tooting up a cheap base model into something incredible while feeling like you got the bargain of the century. EAA reusing the Witness name kinda grinds the gears, as when they used to import Tanfoglio's arms, they also came in under the Witness name. Tan's in the Stock and Limited trims are incredible bases so far as CZ variants go, and come in some great calibers like 10mm that CZ won't touch. If Girsan would offer a 10mm double stack 1911 with an optic cut and a full rail, I'd be on that like white on rice.

Hey Skip, if we’re talking a total budget build that’s pretty dang cool, why not look at the LFA grip module for that? It’s cheaper than the rest and it’s really nice. I have a couple now that we’ve put on a few guns one of them being the Tisas as well as the Apollo.

Been waiting to find one available. I have a Staccato and an old STI EXECUTIVE, both of which I've done trigger jobs and other things to. The Staccato has an aftermarket comp on it, but I really want that XC look but don't really want to buy another 2011 in that price range.

The match X just came out let Skip and others put it through the paces to see if it's reliable and worth your money. I rushed and got the canik tti combat right away and later there were some issues that came out and now mine is having those issues. Might not have gotten it if I waited and seen the issues 🤷

I've owned two Girsan and both had issues out of the box. Their warranty requires you to pay for shipping both ways so i consider them junk. Maybe they got better but beware.

Make something like the new staccato hd 4.5 the one with the short barrel and sight block. Turn that sight block into a comp and make a mini pit viper with an external extractor. Then make your own grip that takes Sig 17 and 21rd Macro mags. The Omen 2.0 EDC 💯🔥🔥🔥 that would be the BEST gun of 2025 and 2026

The regular non-carry model is full sized. Window is comparable to the 507c. The foot print is still the K style footprint and not the rmr style

I have several made in Turkey pistols. They're as nice and as well made as any other pistol I've ever owned. If the pistol works really well and is reliable, I honestly could not care less where it was made. I also think a lot of the overpriced 2011's are in for a huge wake up call. That's just one opinion though. Can't wait to see what this one looks like after it's been totally Skipz-ised.
