How is oxygen removed during pyrolysis? Is it substituted with an inert gas or is pyrolysis just another way of saying that you are operating under vacuum conditions
@-_-ok95503 жыл бұрын
..... heat.... oxygen can be easily removed by heat. other gases like nitrogen or hydrogen need chemical degasification reactions for removal. actually oxygen helps in the degasification process. there aren't much free oxygen in the masses to begin with.

I’m looking forward to this technology spreading. I have heard that biomass, particularly wood, yields dioxins during combustion. Is this true?
@antoniovaccaro85383 жыл бұрын
Using biomass coming from scraps, garbage or crops (such as corn) it is far more eco-friendly than petroleum and even wood. This is due to the fact that the combustion products released into the atmosphere do not come from underground or from an "accumulator" (the trees) which retain the carbon inside them, but are already present in the atmosphere. The problem with biomass is that it is not sufficient in terms of the amount of energy, and can become dangerous if fields are used to produce crops for biofuel production. It is dangerous because it could end up stealing space for crops for food purposes, as well as the heavy use of pesticides and fertilizers that irreparably damage the soil, but which are not taken into account because the crops would not be destined for food use. But hey, it sure is eco-friendly if nobody speculate on it
@robertlehmert13362 жыл бұрын
@@antoniovaccaro8538 This response is nonsense. Generalizations like "biomass is that it is not sufficient in terms of the amount of energy" are not borne out by reality. No external energy is required for pyrolysis unless it has been depleted by prior processes. For example, effluent from a biodigester has been depleted - so we add wood chips to add back energy and carbon. You might want to do a little more research on the use of crops used for biofuels. You seem unaware of miscanthus, willow, bamboo, and other crops that neither "steal space" nor require "heavy use of pesticides". I'm sure you're not a person who would intentionally spread misinformation, so I suggest you invest the effort to learn about the topic before condemning it in such strident terms.

If I had to design that thing, I’d ad nitrogen to keep away all oxidative gasses. However, the design depends on what's your goal.
