The answer to the cup holder problem is simple. Lift the centre plastic holder out of the base, it has three slots on the back, replace it either on the left or right hand slot, making one space larger for ‘large’ cups, and the other space smaller. Easy as that

Ski hutch is the reason why I have bought skoda. As I do ski quite often. But also other long thikngs that you may want to transport and still fit four people comfortably. Like tools hokey sticks you name it. Nice review,, mdm. My advice: get smaller suscup. Drinking coffee by buckets is not enjoyable is it. Perhapse being more italian about it and sit for en pressO could be better.

If Skoda called it a Jug Holder I'd understand the frustration, but it's a CUP HOLDER! May your tea always be warm x

I have this car. There are no issues with the cup holders. Normal coffee cups, normal sized cans of drink, and water bottles all fit fine. It's only if you have an idiotic sized thing that it won't fit, which goes for most cars, really.

As a Skoda owner (Kamiq) I'm waiting to see what the new electric Elroq is like. The concept looked stunning. It's about Yeti sized from what I gather....
@anthonystevens8683

The Enyaq is currently and has been almost from release at the top of my electric car list. It's like a jack of all trades and is so versatile because of it. I've also sat in a few when my current car has been in for a service and the only thing that I noticed was the raised floor because that's where the batteries live. I'll not say too much about the infotainment other than to agree it does seem to be different in a good way from the likes of VW and Seat/Cupra cars but I still want buttons and twisty things to adjust the heating/cooling without messing about on a touch screen on the move. If I'm at the dealers next time I'll do the cup holder test as the new name Enyaq 85.

I've had an Enyaq 17 months, done nearly 15000 miles, very happy with it. 99% of the charging has been done at home on the overnight cheap rate. I'm able to set the charging times from the screen in the car? The screen in the car 'says' it's averaged 3.5 miles/KwHr but my home charger tells me how many KwHrs it's added and if you do the maths it works out to 3 miles/KwHr. My previous diesel car also use to say it was getting a better fuel consumption than it actually was! The miles I've done and the electricity costs work out to 7p a mile which is much better than the previous diesel car I had. For info mine doesn't have a heat pump (too expensive an extra) and I do occasionally tow a trailer with it which reduces the range

I just don't get this obsession with cups and cupholders. I've been driving since 1964 and I, and various passsengers over the years, have never, ever, ever felt the need to have actual cups with drinks on board. When do you drink? when you`re going along? do you pull over in crowded high streets? deliberately seek out rural lay bys? and what happens if a passenger tries to drink while drive and you have to do an emergency stop? The cupholders on my Enyaq are just so much utterly wasted space.

Had mine for 18 months & on the whole I really like it. Quality is good, performance is good; better than most ICE cars in the real world. Handling is as good as you can expect from a std. SUV. OK not quite fun, but it's safe & predictable and I would go as far as enjoyable if you know the road... and you can get the back end out with practice 😁 19" rims are the ones with the best ride/handling compromise. I have the power tailgate & movable boot floor which fixes two of your gripes. You have got to be kidding on the Infotainment system and app though; it's derisory! Yes, better than the rest of the VAG versions but that's a bit like saying Mussolini was better than Hitler. Agree on the front cup holders and the charging speeds can be a bit moody. The other thing that enrages me is have to pay for upgrades already fitted to the car, like auto dip headlights & ambient light functions! This and the high price means I wont be getting another. I still think the Enyaq looks better but I can get a Tesla Y for the same money now - Come on?!

I haven't looked at my software version for a while but there are no updates pending and it recently had an update when it went in to have the puddle lights replaced. 3.2 last time I checked I think. The functionality of the app is rubbish; can't lock the doors or close windows charging level often doesn't communicate. It may be the internet signal but we never had a problem with our Zoe or Smart and our Corsa-e is fine too (and that has auto dip headlights!). It's a real shame; as a vehicle it's great. Great video and I totally agree with your feelings on this car. Just coming up on 16,000 miles in my 2023 Enyaq IV 80 in 6 months and I love it. Had 2 x ID5's before and they're very similar but the Enyaq slightly better. Mine had 20" upgraded alloys, heat pump and the ECO suite but if you are high mileage like me, but can charge from home and do around 240 miles a day then its spot on. Its a bit close on the range during ( if doing 250 miles a day ) the winter but loads spare when the weather warms up, the heat pump does help during the really cold weather. The in built Sat Nav is the only Nav better than Apps on my phone but that is the same as the VW ID4/5. Only thing that really annoyed me that I didn't have on the ID 5 was the fact you have to pay to upgrade the headlamps to "Auto Dip" at night whereas the VW its standard.

I'm an TM3LR driver, but my colleague has the Enyaq, and I've travelled in it several times. Hugely more comfy, & really well appointed interior, for a more basic version than yours. The rear is fantastic, but ONLY for two rear passengers. Three is a very tight squeeze. From the passenger POV, it's been so nice to travel in. It was my first choice as a company car, until I realised there was a Tesla option. But, frankly, I'd have been very happy with the 77 kWh Enyaq rwd that I'd originally been looking at.

TLRMY is a closer comparison to the Skoda Enyaq. 2024 M3, is a huge improvement in comfort, quality & build over present model. 2024 MY should get the same improvements when refreshed. Enyaq is the best of all the VW offerings of this size, pound for pound I’d still choose the model Y, it has a heat pump as standard and software that works. The Supercharging Network makes National and European travel very accessible with ease.

Just took delivery of the ‘24 model Enyaq 85 a few days ago - so far we’re loving it. MUCH more practical and plusher than the Leaf Mk2 it replaced. The new model is a little sportier too (if a large SUV can be considered sporty 😂), at 0-62 in less than 7 seconds. It’s the practically that’s the best thing for us though - two boys and a dog, and we have soooo much space! Wish we could afford the heat pump - it’s a real shame it’s only an extra even on the plush trim levels.

Funny, we used to have dogs in the 1970th thru to the 21th century, but we never needed a 2 metric ton behemoth to transport the dog. I dont understand why people need those sizes of transportation to transport 1 person and a dog. And sometimes, 2 or 3 times a year, even 2 or 3 passenger. That could be done with ease in a 1970 2-door VW beetle, or Ford Escort for that matter. Spoiled whining generation.

I'm a little confused by the comment about the off-peak overnight charging speeds. The Enyaq has 11kW AC charging. It has a 77kWh battery pack. Most people have a 7kW home charger. That's going to take about 11 hours to "fill it". The only way it can be quicker is for you to have a 11kW home charger. Or the Enyaq gets fitted with 22kW AC charging and you'd have to get a 3-phase 22kW home charger. Anyway, how often do you need to "fill it up"?

Well it's only taken 2.5 years, but at least a motoring journalist has mentioned the Enyaq cupholder problem. Thank you Ginny! I loved the Enyaq when I test drove it (I did find the ride too jiggly on uneven C-roads, but i was hoping the adaptive damper option pack would sort that), right up to the point where i tried to put my cup of tea into the cupholder. That's a deal breaker for me. BTW, the ones in the rear armrest are just as useless. Hyundai's cupholders work, as do Nissan's, and that's enough to put the Ioniq 5 and the Ariya ahead of the Enyaq on my shopping list.

got my Enyaq for 3y now... the car is still a very good option but: 1) the tailgate is temperamental and how they implement the grab that works against you is a strange decision 2) Just Skoda App. 3) the way how Skoda changed the tech spec six months after the release so people who preordered the car never got promised updates 4) how Skoda left all 60 users with the ME3 version and left them without any future upgrades. 5) the roof or windows can open completely on their own 6) temperamental controls both tablet and roof console. once a month just stop reacting and the ONLY solution is to lock the car for 30 minutes. 6) to defrost the car, the lowest temp you can set is 16deg, and that procedure takes a whopping 3% of the battery from model 60 7) cupholders. for a completely unknown reason, they are 4mm too narrow to be OK with the 80% of cups. 8) even the L&K version got massage done with lumbar support instead of full seat and back like in Kodiaq and ID.7

I have a '73 Enyaq iV 80 Sportline and there are no rear USB ports. The boot door is quite heavy with no auto tailgate. The packaging under the bonnet is poor as there's enough physical space to store cables and other bits but no cubbys. The touch interior lights are frusterating. Cupholders are poor and block buttons. No auto lowering left side mirror when reversing, my mid spec 2016 Golf has that. UK spec glovebox is small as they kept fuse box on the left. There's not enough rubber seals around the door. They want a good £260 to license the radar cruise control and a few other options in the "store". Winter range is dire. No battery pre-heat function. £1000 heat pump is a joke, I was getting 2.5 miles per Kw over the recent freezing weather. So a few more issues not mentioned there Ginny. Overall I like the car too.

Sorry for the cupholders, the original Enyaq for Czechs has beer on tap from the roof instead of cupholders. No engineer could possibly guess that someone in the world drinks coffee instead. Oops, I see, you obviously drink tea. An unusual twist for our would-be beer culture brothers.

That cup holder placement or charging bay placement is also poorly designed. If you phone is into bay and you have to take it while you have 2 bottles in cup holders phone is really hard to reach without moving those bottles. Also i'm 197 cm tall and my knee is really close to dashboard for sure if crash happens my knee would take some kind of damage when it will hit on that dash board. Clearly designed more for average size person.

Ah, the old “hold the power button of the infotainment system for 20 seconds” trick in a Skoda. Have to do every few days in my 2021 Octavia. That’s if the system hasn’t frozen, crashed and restarted itself. Not to mention its latest trick that if I plug my phone in to charge and try to play audio via CarPlay it refuses to play anything. Can’t wait till see the back of it, and it’s the reason I didn’t even consider an Enyaq when ordering its replacement

I don’t understand why traditional car manufacturers still have engine on their start/stop buttons. Just put start/stop on them and you can use them in all your cars. Now it just looks silly when you put it in an EV.

They are already here in UK - I monitor prices for my company scheme and an Enyaq is now cheaper to lease than a lot of smaller hatchbacks. Must be discounting them as list prices are a lot higher than the smaller cars.

Nice review, however are you driving a loan vehicle. If so have you thought about the many other considerations. I.e the cost of insurance, forthcoming changes to VED charges, the cost of depreciation, the inability of the National Grid to supply enough electricity etc. etc. Regarding EV’s in general. A number of manufacturers have reduced production due to a build up of unsold cars. I’ve carried our comprehensive research, into the purchase of an EV, and have become aware of a number of factors. 1. They cost a lot more, a similarly featured Kia EV, costs £14k more than an ICE Skoda. 2. The depreciation on the EV is far far greater. 3. The cost of insuring the EV is in excess of £2,000, the Skoda £350. 4. The addition cost of a home charger £1,000, and what about those living in flats, terraced house etc. 5. The range quoted, is under ideal conditions, in the winter due to ancillaries, it decreases dramatically. 6. Just have a look at the many other videos on KZbin, concerning non-working chargers, long waits at charges, range anxiety, and watching ICE vehicles fill in a couple of minutes. 7. Read the articles in the press by Rowan Atkinson. Petrol head, with a bachelor’s in electrical engineering, and a masters in science and electrical engineering. He is not Mr Bean!! 8. The work being done by JCB, regarding site equipment. 9. The fact that battery powered HGV’s are unsuitable, due to range etc. etc. 10. Think for a moment on the validity of the government’s position. The person in charge, is only there due to the fact he was the only one who knew how to put a new plug on a kettle. Some may also conjecture that a distant relative might have interests in an organisation which would benefit financially, a bit like the PPE scandal? In conclusion there is no doubt that the world is going to hell in a shopping trolley, and something has to be done. But at best, current technology electric cars, are not going to prove to be the answer. There is much research being undertaken into other solutions, and I, for one am expecting/hoping for a more realistic solution.

If I was looking for a spacious family car that drives well, is efficient, is comfortable then I'd walk straight past the Enyaq, get a Tesla Model Y and save myself a wheelbarrow load of money. Plus it will be faster, charge faster and have access to the supercharger network.
@BBingo-v5i
@BBingo-v5i 8 ай бұрын
Hahaha sorryl, then you went straight to the most outdated EV in the market. Anyone who buys a Model Y at this moment has absolutely no idea about market developments. The Enyaq just got a new powerful and efficient drivetrain + motor update, it has great range, great space and interior, and solid tech features. Model Y has like none of that. Wait for the facelift or straight away get an Enyaq.
