Bushings - did all of mine in my car, I burnt them out with a blow torch and they popped right out, putting in the new ones I had to make my own tools for that job. Well done Murray !

Hi Murray - About to replace these bushes on my Fabia anytime soon (Gerbils is a good description of the noise!), thanks so very much for the video which has given me the confidence to go ahead with the work myself. Have ordered both bushes (about £19 off eBay for 2 Meyle ones) and a fitting kit £30 - garage have estimated some £200+ to do the work so I am more than pleased to save some good money - if only the dealers/garages were more reasonable!? I will offer the tool out for loan on my local FB group so if anyone needs to borrow one they know where to come - thanks again Murray!

As Mike, the manager at the local Arnold Clark's has always been good to deal with I'd say (in the case) the 'five hours' is the 'book time' without the specific service tool, I split the job over two days and I'd guess a doing it at a 'run' I could replace both sides in about 2-3 hours

I was expecting to use at least a cricket wrench, but this may be the cheapest diy ever saw. Congrats mate!

Did you have any trouble splitting the ball joint to get the wishbone off?

Ratchet wrench. With quick release system. It's called also because of that crick-crick sound when working with it :)

:-) I've got to ask... what's a 'cricket wrench'?

Hi Murray, excellent videos. When you came to do the drivers side, were you able to remove the bolt at the front of the wishbone okay? I cant remove it fully as it is catching the corner of the sump. did you have a similar problem?

Hi Nathan, 'today' I did a bush replacement for the office lady at my pals m/c shop ;-) as it's been a while since I did my sisters car JUST grabbed a torch and had a look! Plenty of clearance from the sump, at a guess IF the engine mount is failing then perhaps there could be issues with bolt/sump clearance.... IF this is the case using a jack to SLIGHTLY lift the drivers side of the engine might help?.... Let me know how you get on. If you want you can send me picks/video of the problem and I'll see if I can work out what's up. MH

How did you get on with other side where bolt gets stoped by oil sump ?
@ParaglidingScotland6 жыл бұрын
Hi as these are at the back end of the suspension arms both sides are well clear of the sump on the Skoda (1.4 'Classic')

Yep! But of course that's rather the point..... i.e. this IS a amateur way of solving this problem instead of shelling out a bunch of cash!
