What a useful video and what an exercise in patience! This could save hours of fiddling trying to work out the correct assembly method for anyone with this problem

Thanks. Yes patience is definitely required, I could have lost my rag with this so easily, not easy and very fiddly as I have big hands, but mastered the darn thing in the end. I had to as the alternative isn't worth thinking about. I hope it helps others in a similar situation having to wrestle this thing :-)

I would love to see a video about changing the micro switch in the drivers door lock. There are some, but they are not very detailed. The microswitch itself is very cheap, but the work is the pain.

Yes, I have one and should do a video on that for anyone wanting just to do that, I will do it, on my list, thanks :-)

Hey man, I did this a while back but the spring is too tight, because when I put the key in, the spring pushes the barrel interior to the "open" side. How did you get it to stop in the middle?
@HatBoyHarvey3 ай бұрын
@@omgmeoogbal sorry to here you are having trouble :-( The assembly of these are very complex and must be done correctly to work. As you can see in the video I had a number of problems from getting the spring in under tension to fitting the retaining clip and having to shorten the whole thing. It is imperative you assemble it correctly which is not easy. You may have the barrel or the spring the wrong way around or in the wrong places. The aftermarket parts are not as good as OEM parts that is for sure. All I can say is disassemble the thing again and study the mechanism carefully to see why it's not functioning right. These springs are tight, but you have to put them in correctly. These are so difficult to assemble correctly, I feel your pain my friend and wish you the best of luck :-)

@@HatBoyHarvey well, the 2 full rings broke in the lock part, so I went to a salvage and got these parts from an old Fabia and put those in mine. I didnt really have much trouble, except the spring now pushes the lock open continously, haha. But I'll try again to fix it to (try to) allign the spring correctly this time

@@omgmeoogbal good thought that you used OEM parts, on reflection I should have too. From what u say the spring sounds it is assembled wrong somehow :-)
@omgmeoogbal3 ай бұрын
@@HatBoyHarvey yeah it must be. I'm gonna retry it. If all fails, I can still assemble it wrongly 🤣

Seems like it would of been easier to file the replacement clip to the original OEM dimensions than filing all the other parts. Good job anyway.
@HatBoyHarvey8 ай бұрын
I did think that, but these are so fragile - they break at the slightest and the thought on taking ages filing such a small thing down with my number hands put me off doing that. I wouldn't risk it! In the end I didn't think I would have had to do so much filing either, one bit after another, but in the end it ended I mastered it anyway :-)

I can't open the door with the key, it turns in circles. Will this also help? Thank you for the video
@HatBoyHarvey8 ай бұрын
Yes, you will need the spares kit to replace what has broken, but be warned of the issue with the clip. You may not have this depth problem, but hopefully this video tries to address that to some degree :-)
