The best thing about the Kamiq (apart from its price), is that it can be optioned up and still come with a manual transmission. Apart from the Mazda 3, it's starting to be impossible to find a manual car in 2020 that isn't a base model, sport-oriented or use for commercial use (like a dual cab ute).

After the Ford fiasco of what was the Focus Transmission problem, resulting in a massive class action, Ford could engineer and build ‘the car of the century’, I would never consider buying a Ford again. It’s sad for the decent people working at the dealerships as it is the North American management that is the problem.

I think this car looks stunning. The Ford Puma looks shocking. Even my 19yo and 21yo children agree that the Puma is an ugly looking car. I used to be a big Ford fan, and have owned many Ford passenger cars, I'll never buy a Ford Puma. I'd buy a Skoda Kamiq any day. I'm just disappointed that a Kamiq 'Launch Edition' is priced the same as an outgoing VW Golf Highline, yet some of the Skoda parts are outdated - manual handbrake, additional cruise control stick, etc. My son's 2016 Golf Trendline had electric handbrake and cruise controls on the steering wheel, and VW still include cruise control on the steering wheel as well as virtual cockpits. For Skoda (VW) Australia to launch this new Kamiq in late 2020 with such old VW parts is not good enough. I also wish the top of the range 'Launch Edition' had higher profile tyres for ride comfort and leave the low profile tyres for the supposed to be sporty 'Monte Carlo' edition.

But I currently drive 3 cars regularly, one with it on the hrs and two with it on the left. I have no real problem swapping between them. Only occasionally will I get it wrong if I haven't driven a car with it on the other side for some time. I have also bought many cars for non enthusiast friends over the years and not one has complained about the stalk being on the other side from their previous car. "You soon get used to it" they say if asked. So reviewers don't comment about it, probably because it isn't a problem to actual car buyers.

That is why Skoda owners are among the most satisfied owners after several years of ownership, not just in Australia but many countries.
