Hello, I own a Skoda Rapid diesel manual variant. Its really fun to drive this machine. I bought the new model in January 2017. I have drove 35000 kms till now. If I drive smooth I have measured an average of 24-25 kmpl. While driving rough its average comes around 16-17 and 12-14 if really rough. I had met minor accidents and except scratches nothing major appears on body. Even in traffic the major enemies of a car are 2 wheelers who hit side mirrors and drivers hit rear bumpers with their best efforts. Nothing major observed and bumper still fits on its place as it is. So overall happy with car performance, stability, build quality, drive and simplicity. Must go for it if you are not a fan of Japanese engineering.

Happy and proud owner of Škoda Rapid 1.6 MPI Ambition. I agree with all the points mentioned except I get better mileage figures. What I love? 1. A true entry luxury car on par with European design and feel. 2. Engine performance in terms of mileage. 3. Steering feedback. 4. Solid build which inspires big confidence. What I don't like? 1. TSI would have been better than MPI 2. Interior materials could have been of better quality. 3. Optional airbags for passengers would have been beneficial. On the whole I am very satisfied about the car and look forward to cover at least 200,000 km on the odometer :)

I agree to most of the info here. Having driven my Diesel Auto 2017 for close to 25000 KM now I can proudly say it is a pleasure to drive it. As far as city mileage goes I keep my eyes on the RPM meter and the efficiency gauge to ensure I dont throttle or break unnecessarily and am able to achieve almost 16-17 in a city like Gurgaon. The gearbox is pure pleasure. Love the Red.

Own a petrol automatic. Personally this is one of the best cars you can drive. The power is awesome and high speed stability on the highway a marvel to behold.Understated yes, but this thing grows on you. Drive one and you will never want to drive anything else.

I had skoda rapid diesel ambition plus 105bhp and 2014 model. I had it in manual transmission, believe me its one of the best cars in its segment in India. It depends upon how u drive and keep the car. For manual transmission and normal driving conditions with timely servicing, it gave me 25+ kmpl on higways and 19+ in city driving. I was pleased with the overall results of economy and other features inside the cabin as well. I wont say its the luxuriest of all but certainly its the best of all. For me the servicing was also reasonable no extra costs of any parts till its first 3 years of running. I would certainly recommend this car for those who dont do rash driving and like a simple and pleasurable experience from their cars.

Driving Skoda Rapid 1.5 TDI manual for over a year, I chose this over other counter parts like Verna, City or Ciaz, because no car gave that drive quality and pleasure like Skoda Rapid gave me. I love driving it and in city it give food mileage of 14 and 21-22 on highways. Sum up to say, I feel safe inside the car, such is build quality.

I own skoda rapid facelift 1.5 TDI from 7 months now and drove around 25000 km.The mileage is 15 kmpl in city and more than 20 kmpl on highway which is quite decent with the pickup and engine power it has. This is the car for the people who want solid built quality which will age well and like sober interior design.However i hope skoda will plan to launch more cars that people can afford like VW other than focusing on only luxury cars

I have 2019 Rapid Ambition AT Diesel. Excellent in driving. city Mileage 13-15 Highway 19-22 depends on road quality I drove from Pune to jaipur approx 2700 kms with an Mileage of 22 KMPL. Yes Engine is quite noisy, but still they manage to make cabin somewhat quite. Best part is DSG , like a hot knife through butter. Cheaper than Vento / Verna / City. 6 Year warranty and 6 Years RSA prog is a plus

It does a good job of swapping cogs. Admittedly it isn’t as good as the 7-speed DSG in the diesel, but it wouldn’t give you a reason to complain on a daily basis. On the other hand, Vento automatic is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol mill, which generates 105PS/175Nm. This mill is mated with a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission gear box. If we talk about Rapid, it gets nice build quality. Doors close with a reassuring thud, interiors are among the best built in the segment. But, straightforward interior design is beginning to show its age. While, in Vento, 7-speed dual clutch mechanism allows an automatic gear shift without interrupting the power flow. But, ground clearance is quite low which makes it look uncomfortable when it comes to huge bumps. So, we would suggest you to take a test drive in order to clear your all doubts.

It’s practically the same package delivered with a smaller pinch to the wallet. Yes, it’s a tad bit old and could do with some more features, but that build quality does make up for a lot!

The four-cylinder engine feels well suited for the size and bulk of the Rapid, and rarely feels out of breath. While it has 105PS and 153Nm on tap, it isn’t exactly a sprightly performer. While maximum shove is available in a relatively narrow band post 3500rpm, peak power is developed only near the redline. Whereas, Rapid gets the updated 1.5-litre TDi diesel engine that debuted with the Volkswagen Ameo compact sedan. Power is up to 110PS (from 105PS), while peak torque remains identical at 250Nm. Between the two options, the diesel is easily our pick for its outright oomph and fun to drive factor.

You are right about the stability and hold/grip is the best thing in this segment cars. But iam not agree with fuel efficiency you told about. Iam using 2015 ambition diesel varient and never get less 15 km/ ltr in worst situtation. And also best drove 1455 kms after complete 51 ltr.

Talking about the ride quality Vento is on the firmer side, along with the well-sorted suspension hold on to the road really well and keeps the car composed. It’s the car one would feel more comfortable in if had to push to the limit. The new Rapid has evolved into a car of many merits. It has a solid build quality, premium looks, high-quality interiors, fantastic ride and a powerful diesel engine. Safety is of top priority here, with ABS and airbags standard across the range. It does skimp on some features like a rearview camera or something as basic as an external boot opening button, but that will make their way on later updates. It might not be deal breakers but will surely be very irksome. Traditionally, the petrol variant is the sportier version but in the Rapid, the petrol version seems tuned for comfort. The motor is refined with healthy torque delivered on the top reaches of the rev range. It is an eager motor and the manual is quite fun to drive with its slick gearbox that offers shorter shifts and a light responsive clutch that makes the car engaging to drive. Moreover, do take the test drive of the car to pick the best as per your needs and requirements.

With the extra Rs 1-1.50 lakh spent on a diesel purchase, you can actually drive a similar petrol car for as many as two years! So, do your math carefully. Only reason to not buy it is the Skoda service centre .. extremely bad all over India .. The Skoda work shops have no rules to keep the customers car clean while they work on it . Not even a plastic sheet to save it from any kind of oil stains .. the quality of staff & after sales service is extremely poor . You can compare its after sales service to Fiat. Fiat may be a little better .. In this segment HONDA & TOYOTA are great .. specially Toyota in the after sales & service .. Skoda cars are very good : strong build , excellent diesel & petrol engines , quality in rapid is bad specially the AC screen , the fonts disappear when you touch the screen try it & the engine oil tank always shows empty when you check it manually , that’s very funny & the work shops claim that it’s the fault of the manufacture & the design of the tank is faulty that’s the reason we never see oil on the oil stick manually ... Leaving the Rapid all other cars as of now are excellent ... Rapid isn’t that bad leaving few major complains & the biggest one The after sales service at the workshop.the staff will put the job sheet of the cars windscreen & will fill it up they are least bothered of any scratches & not even a pad bellow it ... The best part is during one of my visit at the work shop they had Skoda company officers visit & the service then was great but that lasted just for sometime the moment all went the staff working had a relief smile & got back to thr normal working habits .. am not mentioning the service cent name as that’s not correct on my behalf ..

A good video, everything is true here. Great car, I touched 140 in my petrol MT , rock solid at that speed also. This car doesn’t rattle like maruti. Great build quality. Yep it is super thirsty in city traffic. I got max 18 kmpl when driving between 40-60 but this car is not meant for that. Super fun to drive car.

Naveen, you can pick the diesel automatic. The DQ200 is known to be notorious, but reported failures have gone down significantly - next to nil at the moment.

At slow speeds it's jerky at times when you take off your foot from the accelator pedal. The front seats are very bad when it comes to under thigh support. The external rear view mirror control knob is an enigma to figure out. Noisy engine. Otherwise no other complains. Very content with the car. (Monte Carlo)

I live in the U.K and have a Euro Spec 2013 1.6 TDi Notchback. I also enjoy driving and had a Mazda RX8 up until a few months ago and now have a Saab Convertible. The Chassis on this little car is alot of fun and even though I was going to change it for something else this year. I am going to keep hold of it a while longer. Tweak it a little, maybe a re map?

As far as the design is concerned, German cars are not jazzy as some korean and japnese cars which Indians like mostly. German car design language is always clean and neat. I am a proud owner of a rapid diesel automatic and its simply the best. If u want to know about the performance, i can tell u that when i hit the pedal, the water bottles in my door pockets use to pop out and fall on the floor.....and is u r comparing the fuel efficiency of such a performance car with maruthi, hyundai or toyota.....then sorry.....u need to learn more about cars...!!!!

Having driven both cars extensively, the pickup on the ivtech is great, probably the best in segment but the car's chassis just doesn't do justice to it. The rapid on the other hand feels more planted, the steering feedback is far better. Any good driver would bash the city in a race provided both the cars are stock. But that's just dynamics. Keyless start and trunk opening and a sunroof will be enough for this to be the segment's best car. While the honda provides all these, it's a better match. And trust? Just a few years ago honda forced service in every 3 months, all they would do is wash the car up and charge 9k for it. Every damn three months. Later they changed this to continue selling strong but Japanese have a typical shit attitude towards everything.
