You need to add side support to keep the tank from bulging outwards especially when full. Those sides will bulge outlike an accordion. the pressure from the water sloshing around will cause a crack or catastrophic failure.

Sharkbite fittings shouldn't be used in a permanent installation. Brass or plastic fittings with stainless chinch clamps are more reliable and cost a fraction of what the fittings you used. Glad to see you put the water tank inside and not under slung in the frame.

Why not in a permanent installation?
@lipinskirl10 ай бұрын
Sharkbite fittings are absolutely OK for a permanent install… That’s exactly what they are designed for. I used them on my entire house build 3200sqr ft with 4 1/2 baths a full kitchen and wet sink in the bar. Been in use for 12 years and zero leaks or issues. They are great! Just a little expensive.

If they are installed correctly, they do indeed seem to stand the test of time. We had water leaks (from freezing) under a house we were going to buy and the seller had a plumber come and fix it. It was all copper plumbing originally but all the repairs were made with pex and sharkbites. We lived in the house for a few years with no trouble at all.

Sharkbite shouldn’t be used in a vibrating bus. Fine in a house. The best type in Pex A. Far more reliable and easier to install in tight places than pex B

How did the fittings hold up. Any leaks? I’m about to do that step and kind of skeptical of the fittings
@TaleOfTwoSmittys2 жыл бұрын
No leaks on the tank fittings. Only leak we had was on the plastic inlet door we installed. It has a gravity fill and a street pressure connection. We had a leak where the brass fitting from the pex connected to the plastic fitting of the door for street pressure. No issues with tank fittings. The fittings kit was excellent.

They have dozens of tanks different sizes, with and without the fittings kit, etc. I can't speak to the one you saw. Hope that helps!

How do you transition from flexible hose to pex? Is there a fitting for that?

Hey where did you get the fittings for your tank, I didn’t see it on the parts list.
@TaleOfTwoSmittys2 жыл бұрын
When we ordered the tank, there was an option to get the fittings kit. Outside of that is contact RecPro.

Hello there great videos we appreciate ya!! Just a quick question. What model pump did you go with and what in the world are those cool little rubber grommets called that you used on the tank?
@TaleOfTwoSmittys3 жыл бұрын
We installed a SureFlow 12v with a strainer. It's this one: amzn.to/3DAPMxU. The grommets came with the water tank, I guess they're just fittings.

Hello again! Got a question: I see you put a loop in the water line on the outlet of the pump. Does that serve a function or is that just the way it's installed?
@TaleOfTwoSmittys4 жыл бұрын
Great question! Pentair recommends minimum 12-18” of flexible braided hose on either side of the pump to eliminate vibration. We didn’t have 18” of space, so we put a loop in it to give us to length without sacrificing the space. Thanks again for following along!

You guys do a great job! We are starting a bus build ourselves and I’m curious about the fittings you used on tank. You drilled holes, put a round “washer” piece in, then your fittings. Would you mind explaining that process and pieces used, adhesives, etc.? Thank you!
@TaleOfTwoSmittys3 жыл бұрын
We bought RecPro tanks (links in description). The fittings kit was an add-on when we bought the tank. It comes with instructions and the fittings to install. It was very simple! There is no adhesive for the grommets. The only adhesive was on the gray tank where the drain pipe attaches to the tank. And we used Oatey* multi-purpose (PVC & ABS). That link is in the description as well.
