I know this is 5 months old and the job is done but if you ever need to do something similar use a Countersink Drill Bit. This will drill the hole and the indention into the wood all at the same time so your screw is flush or indented into the wood. Otherwise, a FANTASTIC job. The amount of work you two have put in is amazing. I would like to see after a year or two if you regret going with a smaller bus instead of a full sized one.

It's crazy to view all of this work and know that you'll sell it in a year or so.

Love the tip on the connectors. We have those connectors for our lights but haven’t started that project yet. Definitely going to use zip ties now. Thanks! ~A

Good idea, using zip ties to secure the t-connectors.

Probably too late for your install, but for others down the line my comments might help. The areas where the shiplap split at the screws, the board came be salvaged by removing the board and opening the split with a screwdriver or chisel. coat split with wood clue and clamp. It will make the wood stronger after drying. Wood screws are a funny beast. The hole that the screw goes into should be slightly larger than the screw diameter of the screw threads. Making the hole for the screw slightly larger takes all the lateral forces off the wood and will prevent splits. Also over tightening the screw to bury the head is a bad idea as you found out. The board is held tight to the bus by the head and not the threads on the screw. It is possible as you use your skoolie with rough roads some shiplap will split at the screw. If it does simply squirt wood glue or epoxy into the split. Remove the screw and squirt glue into the hole. Board split should close. Replace screw after enlarging screw hole. A little sand and paint and it will look good as new. Awesome job!

The reason the shiplap is cracking is because you need to predrill the holes so the boards wont crack.
