The large difference is due to testing error, merciless gives extra turns resulting in approx30% more damage than it should have

@@tristanm8838 💯 percent correct. Should tell you all you need to know from the massive disparity in the damage results within the rest of the team. Especially a product of changing a nukers gear around only. 9p Slayer wasn't even working right before taking into account more player turns. Still interesting data, would guess just poor programing work from Plarium and their ever ambiguous synergy being a mystery like always.

Im not able to get 9 piece merciless so i build him in 4 piece instinct + 5 piece slayer. Goes very well for now. Ripps off most arena teams at gold 5 with his a2. Also awesome on every other place at the game

Yeah unfortunately most of the things we see from CCs are from the absolute meta artifacts and builds in the game, but if not been playing for years then one has to figure out other sets to use. I can get slayer and instinct artifacts, but not yet the merciless, so I appreciate you sharing what you did.

I just saw he target the decapitated heads with the A2. As I understood the skill it should be better to target the most tanky head first since the following hits will do more damage. Do I get it wrong?

You are right, but the good thing is it doesn't matter too much for this purpose since he was likely doing it the same way for both options. But yes in your runs you should totally target the tankiest heads with the a2

Yeah, i target a weak head/head under spawn buff so that you maximise the damage

hard hydra defense stats are not too crazy yet ignore defense has more effect on nightmare but yeah he also gets extra turns and cd reduction etc

I know the A2 may not get the chance for the 9 piece proc, but what about his passive when it hits the 10 lightning stacks? That passive also hits like a sonofa sonofa. I've been using mine in a pretty decent 9 piece, but I seriously just now had the question about the passive pop in head for the first time right when I click on this video. Honestly just never noticed the x2 proc damage, not sure if it's the red numbers or if it's just normal yellow damage numbers haha

I have 1 really good set of merciless, but no good barbarian accessories for that set, so I built him in 6 piece slayer. He hit 190m for me in hard hydra. I think slayer is definitely a good, like 1a option where merciless is number 1

Othorion and Oboro are the only champions i use 9 piece Slayer set. They both do pretty solid damage. Oboro does more though because of the ally attack with Mikage.

Are cycle of magic and lasting gifts really the best masteries to give him? I get that he has a small chance to decrease cool downs and a decent chance to extend his self buffing with these two, but getting that stat bonus with lore of steel seems better to me.

I agree here though. Scratch my favourite cc for this. Most others are 'OMG HE IS GOOD IN HYDRA, MUST GET' While their account already have 20 others for hydra with same kit. Dock and scratch more straight. -Not enough damage to take a spot. Not unique. I like the cold hard truth. :)

I’m in the same boat but reversed. I could put him in 9 piece merciless, but all the accessories are defense and I lose 2400 attack. So 6 pieces it is. It may be better to not take so many extra turns and instead just cool down the nukes and get busted. I’m running him in front of Trunda to drop the heads with him and let Trunda hit more decapitated heads.

My 9 piece Slayer set works well on Gharol. And Cupidus smacks with a 6 piece Slayer set, just turn off the A2, as Eostrid gives increase all to the entire team.

It's funny because after the first time you came out and said that Slayer is the best thing to use on Thor,Plarium had to included in Raid Digest for 20th of September saying that Slayer set does not work on Thor. xD

I thought the same thing bout the a2 not ignoring def because he attacks one at a time but I have 9 peice slayer and I've noticed when he attacks it always says ig def even on the a2 right before the numbers show so idk if it's a bug or what seems like it does work

Slayer definitely isn't the trigger of it. I tested it outside of hydra and there is a significant difference.

No we are looking well to him, also supports with many AoE's are already proven to be good on Slayer. For damage you need very specific champs, like razelvarg can work, or arix...

Very Important: Thor A2 is Not a AOE...3 to 4 hits with "Cycle of Violence" is a guaranteed cooldown on a ramdom skill with Merciless set. Knocking out waves in Doom Tower Hard.

I have my Thor in a 6 piece merciless,he is a monster, just a tip to maximise his A2 damage is to target a red affinity head, so the rest of hits go on neutral and weak affinity. Thor changed my account for sure

the dmg boost stays, after 6 debuffs (iirc) you cap out and your dmg is maxed that round. you dont need 6 active debuffs, just 6 debuffs throughout the run

Scratch I like you, but this test is not even close to accurate because nine piece Mercil merciless gives him a bunch of extra turns on average somewhere around 20 to 25% total extra turns so if you go off boss turn count instead of character turns taken nine piece merciless will beat out every set even with much worse stats the only accurate way to test. This is to go to turn limit.

It's not as big of a difference as you seem to think. Thor is only 1 out of 6 champs on the team, and only a 15% chance to proc the extra turn. Keep in mind Thor was also one of the slowest champs on the team, if not the slowest. Overall, this would come out to a very small percentage difference in total turns taken between allies and enemies by boss turn 50.

Its 15% that goes to a limit so its actually closer to 20-25% more turns because every extra turn can reproc an extra turn, each extra turn also increases his passive attacks which are effectively the damage of an extra turn, this means his total damage is around 25-30% higher or more depending on luck
