So basically, Kliptown is a suburb in Gauteng, South Africa and "Empyrean" means "heaven". Skrillex had held a music workshop with another artist a few years ago at the Soweto Kliptown Youth Centre, which acts as a haven for over 40 kids and feeds around 200 children everyday. Perhaps he was reminiscing about that day he spent time with many talented children, as he made this song.

But was my favorite one there because of the same reason i loved this track so much. Y pues como media hora después la sacooo y lo mejor se todo es que fue la casualidad más bonita, ya que ayer traía puesta una chamarra de él 😭😭, neta jamás dejaré de escuchar a skrillex y creo que no soy el único que piensa así, el con sus canciones me ah ayudado en momentos muy difíciles de mi vida y algunas de sus canciones me han marcado, que viva muchos años más el Dios del Dubstep, y aunque ya no haga, aún así seguiré siendo fan, los quiero mucho skrilleros y suerte de dónde quiera que sean 🖤.

Burial is highly associated with the beginnings of the genre so a listen to any of his music especially his album "Untrue" is necessary to hear where some of this comes from, in my opinion it's one of the most important pieces of music I've heard. Vacant gives a more modern take on where the genre could be headed, listen to his "Deep South EP". Other artists that'll come up frequently when you're chasing this delightfully haunting and atmospherically upbeat sound are Twisted Psykie, Sublab, Ennja, Azaleh, Phelian, Vesky, Sorrow and Blut Own. I could go on, listen to anything it's all good! I really do love this genre, once you hear that Future Garage style drum pattern anywhere you can't help but catch the flow and start bopping your head.

If you didn't know kliptown is a part in south africa that isn't necessarily modern. Empyrean means a place higher than heaven. The song is supposed to be more relaxed and laid back like your in Kliptown.
