I love the SKS one of my top 5 favourites. I own a Soviet 1951 all matching Tula sks with the CCCP stamped right above the safety. I thought that was pretty cool, & I oddly happen to like the trigger pull on my sks. I also made my stripper clips into 5 rounders it’s so much better and more faster/compact to manage. Ps. I paid $439.99 cad. I believe that’s the cheapest available price on the market as of 2021 so get them while you can.

50 years ago the SKS was a highly regarded military rifle. I have a 1952 Russian Tula. My trigger pull is great on mine maybe you should check out why yours is a heavy squeeze? I put a ATI Strikeforce Tactlite stock with a Scorpion recoil system. It’s a foldable stock which makes it good in the bush for wild boar, coyotes, etc. I still have the original 1952 stock. Stripper clips are great, I have a hundred of them.

Not too long ago, I had switched the stock on my Soviet 1952 Tula SKS to an ATI Fiberforce. It looks nice but now, since the new stock is black, there is no contrast. So, I may switch back to the original configuration (I'm kind of partial to wood ans steel anyway). Except for the rear sight, that is. When "Tacticooling" it, I also switched out the rear notch for a peep that I bought off CanadaAmmo. Regardless of anything else, THAT will be remaining if I decide converting it back to stock. I don't hunt (yet), but I have toyed with the idea of taking the hunter safety course just to be able to walk in the bush with it, even if I don't actually take down anything..I better acquire some SP ammo for the thing, then =)

The SKS is my #9 firearm. It is a Russian 1950. One thing i learned after i got it. The 1949 / 1950 are the only ones that have a spring on firing pin instead of the free floating ones. The first firearm I got was the Mossberg 590A1 retro. Others are a .308 CZ and Savage 6.5 Creedmore. Glock .45 and S&W M&P 9. As for the SKS, i am taking it to the range in a few days for first time.

It was an easy fix, 27 dollars and 10 minutes later it was working. Oh being that I have a Yugo mine also has flip night sites. They all but faded. And I already have some glow paint on it's way. You are correct, in Canuckistan, it seems the rifle is now being sorted and categorized by stores/outlets... The poorest quality is still available at $229.00 (non Russian/Soviet). The next level up is $299-$399.00 (depending on store. Russian/Chinese). The Best quality available is now at $499.00 to $550.00 (Russian). . . Seems like it would be an excellent plinker (cost) and tool for instructing family members into the world of firearms - centrefire/Hunting). Russia then China then several others after that - Romania, Albania, Yugoslavia, North Vietnam and It think that's it... thanks for the review. IMHO, a US manufacturer should make a good, retro remake of the SKS. Even if they would use polymer furniture, if they would otherwise keep it original is design... that would be great.

Whats the diff between the russian and Chinese sks??? Is one more reliable then the other,,, or both equal

For reliability, they're the same. Soviet ones will be a bit more collectible and so will be a bit more valuable.

@@-Cheif In my opinion, the ban greatly contributed as most of the reasonably priced centre fire semi-autos were banned. The SKS now is the only option for many people and the increased demand means they sell for a lot higher.
