When making multiple parts out of foam clay I personally like to keep a digital scale handy to make sure each part is the same amount of material. Maybe a little nit picky but it's nice to have!

Dude you rock. I made horns in less than a week after needing to emergency switch a cosplay for the ren faire. You’re a life saver and I learned a new skill. I’m going to try and make some ram horns next combing this with the wire/foil method. Thank you!!

Just picked up some SKS foam and it really is a LOT better than the generic stuff I was using. Cuts and sands like a dream. I'd say it's worth the higher cost, but it really isn't expensive. Worth every penny, though!

Question can also just use eye lash glue if I can’t fine the prosthetics glue
@SKSProps Жыл бұрын
I think any low adheasion glue would be fine I'm sure it is similar to prosaide or spirit gum
@M4RZ1P4N3 жыл бұрын
does dry foam clay glue onto other objects (foam, plastic, etc) like normal foam, or do you have to use other methods?

Do you have a video on how to do the bolt push molds?
@SKSProps Жыл бұрын
No but it’s as simple as taking a bolt hot gluing a cup or box around it and filling it with silicone Punished props and I made silicone molds on his channel for the foam clay horns I made for Paige you might check that video out

Like 500! Noice. BTW, Steve-- could you use these horns with silicone to make them look more like they're bursting from the skin? How could that be accomplished?
@SKSProps3 жыл бұрын
I had a FX friend use some similar foamclay horns along with prosthetic makeup putty and they looked like they were protruding from the skin

What was the total drying time for the horns? Does freezing make any difference in the total drying time? If you paint them when the center is still not totally dry will the whole thing fall apart? How large of an item can you make with the foam clay? Is it just for details?
@SKSProps3 жыл бұрын
Freezing the clay just help with demolding they still need to air dry for 24 hours after they come out of the mold before you sand or paint. Painting them at that time and having the center still squishy won't affect the stability of the clay at all. For larger horns and items I usually make a base out of tin foil for stability, to use less foam clay, and to help it dry faster. All of the horns I made for my armor in the "How to cosplay with eva foam" video are done in this technique

Hey Steven, I love your videos; they have helped me so much! I had a question regarding priming foam clay, is it okay to use plastidip? I believe KamuiCosplay said she uses flexbond, but I can't seem to get my hands on any, is plastidip a suitable replacement, and will it prevent my foam clay from cracking? thanks in advance! great video!!
@SKSProps2 жыл бұрын
Yes you can use plasti dip, flexbond, or creature cast those are my favorite sealers for foam or foam clay
@Dragontamer1793 жыл бұрын
So does the foam clay not need o be primed like typical EVA foam, or did you just skip that step because it’s a quick and basic tutorial?
@SKSProps3 жыл бұрын
You can prime it if you’d like. I’ve used Plasti dip and fx clear primer on other builds before but on this small build I just added the heavy body paints directly to the foam clay

I have a question. I made some air dry foam horns lately out of colored air dry foam clay. Unfortunately I found that the color bleeds if they get wet with sweat or anything such of the like. Do you have any suggestions on a particular coating I could put on them to prevent this from happening? I put a couple layers of gloss exterior lacquer on them, unfortunately to no avail. And I'm afraid that resin would make them too heavy. Do you have any suggestions?
@SKSProps2 жыл бұрын
First I’d probably say to get non colored foam clay then you don’t have to worry about the dyes running out of the product. I’ve personally never used colored foam clay but I’ve painted acrylics onto my grey clay and that has worked great because the acrylics won’t run. But to seal them I’d try mod podge, flexbond, or Vallejo gloss or matte sealers

@@alfredozavala9753 The only problem with plaster is that it pulls out to much water and the foam clay will probably stick to the sides. the silicone has enough flex to not deform the foam clay and it's smooth surface helps it release easier

Why does my foam clay always flatten and sag and flatten before it dries? It makes sculpting anything that isn’t flat hard. Even with a core inside it just sloughs.

Yes you’d want to wet the foam apply the clay and let it dry. it sands really well with sanding sponges which is something you can’t do with kwik seal If you check out my Loki crown video I used foam clay just for that purpose on the curved horns
