Absolutely badass! Lean and mean! I took a pause from making your samurai armor and Facebook Memories reminded me it's been a year since the pause. 😅 I hope you do a foam smartgunner armor and headpiece someday!

I was thinking of using a layer or two of epoxy resin from both sides. This would add rigidity and would protect the seams from the color. But could crack if strained.

Nice work right there bro, will you make a tutorial for the leg parts? It would ve very helpful

Wow! A super detailed paint scheme, but you definitely rocked it hard. Love every bit of this armor. Looking forward to see what you do with it next. Take a break and relax, Steve. We'll still be here loving your work. Thank you very much for being our inspiration!

Thanks Rex! The camo was definitely a pain but well worth the effort. I felt that a bad camo paint job could have ruined the overall look of the armor. I never get to take a break but I’ll just dial it back some 😂

Awesome paint job Steve, I’m stunned you freehanded the pattern!

Excellent work! The wide straps with the triangular ends look like the originals might have been made from WWII British Pattern 37 cross straps.

Thanks! Terri is overseas and took a lot of inspiration from WWII and Vietnam. All of the soft good and camo were custom made for the movie and luckily James Cameron liked the look.

Polish Desert Camo is pretty close to Frog and Leaf.

it is close and probably fine for cosplayers on a budget

Any chance you might be able to include a more accurate mixture ratio for paints and washes? Some of the descriptions like "heavily watered down" is a little vague. How much graphite is some graphite powder?
@SKSPropsАй бұрын
it's just something you are going to have to get the feel for and you'll get better at judging the ratios the longer you do it. so what you see in the video as far as water and powder on my plate is what I used. also every brush is unique to how much water and paint they hold and every paint brand is different because of the pigment to medium ratio

Absolutely awesome... What did you use to "finish" your paintjob? Did you use any sort of clearcoat over everything? Or are the liquitexcolors itself (once dried) durable themself? I will be building my armor over the holidays and would be sad if the paintjob would not be safe 😅
@SKSPropsАй бұрын
Thanks! 99% of the time I won’t ever clear coat my work. It kills the various sheens of matte and metallics

awsome build for an awsome film! do you think you wil build the helmet too? for a full Hics cosplay?
@SKSProps4 ай бұрын
Wrapped up the ab armor a few days ago along with the shins. The helmet will be a modification of a plastic base and I’ll work on that after DragonCon Follow my instagram to see build updates 👍

The crazy thing is foam almost looks better than plastic reproductions
@SKSProps6 ай бұрын
paint makes the prop, and most i've seen just don't have good paint jobs. I've been painting for 30+ years so it's a lot easier for me to mix colors and know how the final result is going to look
@Jewifer333x26 ай бұрын
@@SKSProps the geometry is mainly what I mean. Its hard for plastic to have the same look of dimension and thickness as this foam.
