The boat steering is very similar to Black Flag. You want to steer sharper you have to slow down. You cant just be at full trim all the time and expect to steer like a go kart

It's crazy that AC Black Flag have more solid pirate mechanics (swimming, sword fights, hand to hand combat, ship takeover, gun fights etc.) in 2013 than this 10yr in the making "AAAA Game"

Someone needs to read up on pirate history. Unless your docked you're not going to do any of that. Pirates only did ship to ship battle. They would only board the ship if they surrendered because doing so otherwise would mean the loss of crew members which could be hard to replace. I hate to break it to you but the pirates life wasn't what you see in a Disney movie. Hell, even naval sailors back than rarely knew how to swim.

I think what really sunk Skull & Bones was making it a live service multiplayer game. They had to cut a load of stuff for it to work in a multiplayer environment. For instance can you imagine jumping on shore in an island to collect loot only to return to your ship to see some random player blowing up your defenceless ship?

I think the issue with the difficult controls, is its annoying as they haven't gone 'full sim,' so there's no real focus. little specifics on actual sailing etc. I don't think real physics is an issue but it is if u do it half assed to try to grab both audiences.. so it's not real enough to make it feel immersive it's just irritating. If they made it the real deal put training in the game to show u how to sail your boat, then it would make all the sailing interesting (yeah it wouldn't be for everyone but at least the game would have direction) it falls right in the middle so it's difficult and dull.

The game is not shit, it's not just for you. If you're looking for more AC Black Flag on this game then you guys are sorely gonna be disappointed. If you haven't played Open Sea sailing/battles live service games like "Uncharted Waters Online", " The Pirates of The Burning Sea", "Naval Action" or "Tempest" (will not include SoT) before, then there will be a little to no chance that you will love Skull and Bones despite it's great graphics and gameplay. Let's all remember when Ubisoft said that they will do a remake of AC Black Flag for MMO experience not a sequel. The biggest mistake here is that Yves Guillemot quoted the game as a quaruple A when clearly the game is not for everyone.

In my opinion I’m having a blast playing this game. I understand you didn’t have the best time (because when you already harvested the wood) the well circles mean you could get more from said location just later, like a way point, then you take it back to the safe zone and refine it. Also stamina isn’t for the ship, it’s the CREW.

Oh yeah, pirates always talk about their level 2 crowbars, and level 3 cutlasses. That shit is lazy as hell. Why not rusty crowbar, iron crowbar, steel crowbar etc. There's so little fucking effort put into the little details like that. If you want it to be a connected world and to feel real, dump the videogamey shit with level 1, 2 and 3 and make items seem real by giving them real names. Fuckin' weak, strong and legendary...something to give the thing a personality and not like an item on a spreadsheet.

They are not rowing, they are moving the sails and basically making sure the ship doesn't spin out of control, but basically yes. I think you gotta keep tension on the sails or some shit.

I was maybe 40 hrs into the game, slow start, I am not interested in PvP whatsoever, I usually read the instructions or tips if given, so the start itself was not even near that bad as yours. As much as I initially liked it and I was playing the game when I was able to, it got way too repetitive and loot was also not that good. Managed to get tier 2 and tier 3 ship, fast travel cost too much, got my crowbar at level II eventually (lol) so I was able to loot bigger ship wrecks, crafting stuff was also a bit slow but not that bad overall. I miss some solid main story, not just fetch tasks to progress in the game. I like to create my own character and this game does not offer a lot of things in terms of creation. Interaction with ppl is very limited and real players do not even seem to be interested in any interaction with other players, everyone is just working on his own shit. I might come back to it later if there is some other content added or improvements. They should also fix the bugs in the game, there are many of them. Overall, it is not that bad for a casual gamer but not worth the current price. If they would put $30 on it, it would be more than enough for what the game offers at the moment. Just before I tried S&B, I finished with main story on AC Valhalla and lost interest to finish DLCs and before that I played AC Odissay (2x), spent over 600 hrs in both games. When I have interest in the game, I do not mind grinding part as long as I am having fun. So, I uninstalled S&B and installed AC Black Flag instead ... 🙂
