Though fish isn't a real scientific category of animal, it's just a colloquial term we use, the more accurate term is "cordate," which does apply to all mammals.

a lot of fossils found actually created those myths! back in ancient times when people dug up fossils they didn’t know what the animal actually was so legends like the cyclops were caused by digging up bones that have a large cap in the center and large skull can u guess which animal they’re based off?? an elephant/mammoth!! in Europe where many of these stories originated they had never seen anything like that so they had to go off of what they thought! same with stories like dragons or mermaids etc!! little history
