I find it genuinely interesting that when he defeats an opponent, he throws them down and looks on at them in utter disappointment; that he wasnt tested as much as he wanted to be in a fight HE deemed worthy of his time. He then turns around and flashes a face of rage to center himself back into that mindset of constant pursuit of the fist that would break the heavens.

He also resembles an asura from Hindu mythology, a demonic spirit of wrath and vengeance that constantly threatened the heavenly status of the Suras/Devas. Literally usurpers of heaven. Fitting he would crossover to Asura's Wrath.

Technically Akuma originally appeared as an April Fool's joke in an issue of GamePro. The issue stated that if you played Street Fighter 2 on the hardest setting and beat the game with perfect wins. That at the end Bison would be attacked by a hidden character doing a flaming dragon uppercut and you would get to fight this character. The photo used in the article was of Ken being used and a character that resembled Akuma. It was exactly one year after this issue that GamePro would issue an apology and admit that this was an April Fool's joke due to so many people being upset that this didn't work when they tried it. Years later with Street Fighter Alpha Capcom officially introduced Akuma who was actually more like Ken than Ryu including both having the ability of doing the flaming dragon uppercut.

I don't think the special idle animation is a reference to that game. I saw a video by some youtuber who showed that the animation was directly taken from some other street fighter game. I don't remember the youtuber or the game from which it was taken from, but it was a more one to one copy of the animation.

Akuma is THE glass cannon of street fighter. Many people don't know how to deal with is low heath. One good combo or Ex piledriver from Zangeif and anywhere from 40%-60% of Akuma's heath is gone.

He’s strong, but I’m noticing a lot of skill issues from players that use him. I’ve never seen players even attempt half the tech in this video. That said, I don’t play SF6, so I’m not qualified to say for sure myself. Punk did win a tournament with him recently, and top players have been consistently making top 8 with Akuma, so I’m not sure I’d call him weak, just maybe untapped at the moment.

Hello Shuxxed I don't know if you'll read this comment but I write this anyway. For me, I think there are some missed opportunities here for Akuma in my opinion. In Gameplay wise, I think that Akuma should be able to perform the Raging Demon while he 3 Super Bars in any health point, full or half health points instead of in CA low health condition. (That would be broken and it's understandable why it should only be performed in low health condition). And if he's at low health he could do the more powerful one known as the Wrath of Raging Demon. Turning himself into this form demostrated right here 3:17. I don't why it was only shown in world tour and we didn't get to see again.

@@johnm3907 Akuma’s design makes him more menacing. No hate to the original, but the old Akuma design makes him to close to Ken, and Ryu. At least this Akuma has his own clothing instead of the overused ripped bluish purple Gi. Not to mention his hair is much more relaxed than his design before. This Akuma is the perfect evolution to the Akuma we once had. But of course you’re free to disagree.

@@Guitar-Dog As an independent observer, it's not what I think, it's what the top players use as their main character selection for high level tournaments that proves my point. Tokido and Angrybird both dumped Akuma and went to Ken. Punk would switch to Cammy if he sees that Akuma is weak. As for the best Akuma players out there, they'd be lucky to stay in the top 10 for a day before dropping outside the top 50. Diago and Shuto are examples.
