I got rid of Sky years ago, it was the best thing that I ever did. I now have a Panasonic OLED TV with a Humax Freesat box. I can set up programmes to record in advance, all with subtitles which I need. There is no further cost. When I was a Sky subscriber the prices kept increasing on a regular basis. I wouldn't touch Sky with a barge pole!

Right, ask yourself 1 thing, do I want to record films/programs? If yes walk away mate, if your not that bothered the TV is amazing the sound is epic the controller is horrendous! That's the best way to look at it my friend.

Thanks for the review mate. I'm really tempted to get one but had some concerns. I appreciate you sharing your experience. I'll have a think and see if it's for me. Regards the unavailability of programmes in your watchlist I think the reason they weren't available later is because Glass has no internal storage and uses cloud. Sky's rights to make it available on their cloud storage expire after a while so they remove the programme. It remains available on Sky Movies etc as they still have the rights for that. Rights cost money. That's my understanding of it anyway! Previously, and storing things on local storage would keep it available until you deleted it (unless some DRM checks were done at tie of playing it)

Than mate 👍🏻 the TV I amazing to be fair, picture quality is amazing sound is great ! It's the controller that let's it down 100% but we've been told they know and are trying to do Summit about it, we'll see mate, glad my review has helped.

Just a quick thing. There is no ‘cloud’ for Sky Glass. It doesn’t record anything anywhere. It simply uses the apps for non Sky channels, and just triggers a stream for Sky channels. When you add something to your playlist, all you are doing is logging a reference to whatever app it needs to use to play it. That was a disappointing shock when I first got my Sky Glass.

Trying to fit my brand new Sky glass TV to the wall using the bracket that comes with it. I can not get it to sit flat against the wall. Does anyone know of a video I can find showing the correct way.

I bought a much better one from a tech shop, more adjustment and way more reliable, the one it came with is still in the box,I'd advise not using it unless you absolutely have to mate.

Nice post and thanks for taking the time to do it 👍 I’d invest in some high quality rechargeable batteries for remote control . I’m going to hang on and see if they improve the system before I take the plunge. Is your tv wall mounted and if so does it come with wall mounts? Cheers 👍👍

Thanx mate 👍🏻 Yes mine is wall mounted and yes it comes with one but I bought a decent one rather than their cheap one lol. Apparently the sky Q remote works with it and works better to, someone has put it in the comments earlier.

Great piece. We bought a Toshiba TV just last year and it's been a major disappointment from what used to be a top brand. We were attracted to Sky glass by their adverts, and I decided to look it up on KZbin; so, hand on your heart, had you known what you know now about Sky Glass, would you still buy it?

Honestly yes mate, the TV is amazing! The sound and picture quality is phenomenal, the remote let's it down hugely, but a few people have put in the comments that one of the sky Q remotes works with it and actually has more features to, the other negative is it doesn't record like the Q so that's something only you know if you can put up with that, hope that helps mate 👍🏻

Hey up mate 👍🏻 soooooooo... we still have the same one that had been replaced just before the review, so yes it's still working, but the nxt test is when it needs new batteries will it die or be OK 🤔, so in short ( not really I know lol) all is good at the moment.

Yeah it's not to bad once you get the hang of it,put a thumb by the 2 little bumps underneath ( ull see a tiny arrow) grip with your other had and put your other thumb at the opposite end and firmly push the whole bottom part away from the infrared lens on the end, so your gripping the buttons side in your palm, then pushing the smooth side ( which is the bottom) down away from that lens) let me know if that helps? 👍🏻

Thanks for the post. Just got Glass and the biggest problem we have is the lack of subtitles. Apparently these are not available on UHD programmes! If I change the format to SD then it says subtitles are available but they still do not appear. My wife is deaf so she can no longer enjoy her favourite shows. ☹️☹️ This is a significant problem for Sky and one which they don’t tell you about. There doesn’t seem to be a workaround.

I ditched Sky in 2016, I was paying €45.75 per month. (I live in Ireland) No doubt that the prices would have increased substantially after seven years. I calculated that up to the present time I would have parted with €3873, that's at 2016 prices. Need I say more?

Sky Glass is one of the worst products ever made. Everytime you rewind or forward something your streaming, you get 5 mins of adverts. Rewind 5 seconds, watch 5 mins of ads. Forward 10 seconds, another 5 mins of ads. Imagine rewinding or forwarding 10 times, that's 50 mins of ads, plus the standard ads too. What a joke of a product. The worst thing is live Sports. Like if you miss goals from a live football match, rewind/forward to find the goals, EVERY time you press play = 5 mins of ads. Its beyond infuriating.

Good video. So basically, Glass is brilliant, But don't run out of battery for remote. The record film is the same for Prime. Often I go to watch from my list and it's no longer free, but can be paid for. Films and TV also leave Netflix after a time. Love my Sky Glass. No issues with remote for the year I've had it and not even needed to change battery so far. 😂

That's cool mate 👍🏻 I went to a local TV specialist and bought a stand that was rated to well over what the TV was and I just wanted it to pull out smooth and be good quality, ( its an expensive tv so why wouldnt you lol) it was £50 off the top of my head but just looked and can't see the brand on it sorry mate, any other info don't hesitate to ask.

My sky glass remote stopped responding to inputs i read on a forun that if you grab the remote in both hands and gently twist in both directions it will work and it fixed ours. Give it a go

i have been thinking about sky glass for a while and spoke to sky themselves today about it before watching your video. My one big issue is the remote battery useage after watching this, how quickly do they run out?

The first couple of controllers within a couple of moths max ( we're on our 5th controller now!) The nxt couple lasted a little longer, The one we have now is only 2 months old so can't really comment mate, on a side note the first 2 let us change the batteries and worked again, the second 2 as soon as they stopped working that was it! Itslike the controller died, no amount of batteries would get it to work, fingers crossed for this new controller eh 🙄 Tvs great ( but can't record anything like sky Q) controllers are a joke.

A couple of months max, where the ones in our sky Q were lasting 12 months easily ( same batteries) I think the main issue is the back lit buttons, every time the controller is even nudged it lights up so that's constantly burning power, Also the controller just seems to die ! We're on our 4th now,

No mate ! That's one of the things we loved about sky Q, this is totally different as been said in other comments, the TV is amazing the sound is stunning but the controller is rubbish!! But the sky Q one works and is better apparently, and no storage for films or series to a point.

I have 2 Sky Stream pucks and had them for 12 months now and never changed the batteries. I use Energiser Lithium AA. They’re expensive, but haven’t done one battery change yet. I’m looking at getting Sky Glass because I want to upgrade my TV and I don’t have anything special like a PS5 and don’t need 120Hz or HDR10+ bollocks. I just want a 4K screen and you only pay monthly for the TV over 24months, but then locked into Sky. It’s a hard choice to make! 😂

had mine for nearly a year . remote is a battery eater . all your points are my issues too. watching live tv became a nightmare films would stop and screen would go blue , message saying wait for programme to load . programme or film would load then fast forward . great tv for a games console . would not get there puck for the room . went through three of them they are the worst of the batch . was wondering if you got the puck with your tv ?

@@thestanleysadventures8229 the puck is a small streaming box that you can put in your bedroom it connects with the sky glass . it was part of the glass package . totally useless even hardwired to the router . hope this helps . i could go on about my whole glass experience but i dont think i have enough angina spray to see it through . wish i had stuck with sky q at least if wifi goes off (VIRGIN MEDIA) which it does a lot you cant watch anything at all on tv it is useless .

Thanks for this video. To the people asking, the puck is what you attach to a different tv for example the one in your bedroom or kitchen. You pay a monthly fee for each puck. I was quoted £19 for sky ultimate inc Netflix, tv, £6 for sky ultra and Dolby, £12 whole home (1 puck) £5 for add skipping. In total it amounted to £66 tv package and £38 broadband. About £2 less a month than I’m currently paying. I’ve been a loyal customer for 23 years. I asked about sky go on my iPad which I currently use quite a bit. In order to still receive this I’d have to take out a sim only contract too. My broadband is currently useless. I don’t know what to do for the best? I don’t actually need another TV but I was thinking if it’s going to cost me the same as I’m already paying then maybe I should get it? It’s very confusing 🫤

It hasn't got any scart connections so would need adapters to use if needed, also it works solely on WIFI not off a dish like the old style, TV is amazing and sound is incredible but it is flawed as iv said in my review.

It happens on mine sometimes, all you have to do is reconnect it, it works on bluetooth hold 1 and 3 together for 3 seconds and it should reconnect.

I’m looking into getting it and I’m wondering why it wouldn’t simply be a matter of staying on top of the battery charge or replacing them when necessary? I have major picture issues with my sky glass. My picture pixelates very badly especially with dark background and I can’t seem to do anything about it My internet is full fibre at around 600mbs so shouldn’t have a problem with the streaming Any help would be appreciated

Sorry mate not heard of that problem before 🤔 we have no actual picture issues at all to be fair, sounds like the TV itself had a fault mate, we've had loads of comments and know one that I can recall has mentioned that problem, deff Complain to sky ASAP, sorry I couldn't be of any real help 🙄

The whole bottom slides down in one peace, if you look closely there's a tiny arrow just below the sensor, there are 2 little lumps then the arrow, hold it firmly and push away from the sensor, it will slide down and you'll see the batteries at the bottom, hope that helps.

Sky glass is absolutely terrible £1300 and sky ripped up my agreement as I’m Muslim and made me pay in one week they accused me of being an extremist because I changed my name , Cassius clay 🥊 changed his name , ignorant small minded bunch of bigots and for this much I could of got an OLED and for gaming it’s terrible , the volume control never worked right the software is terrible and the picture is bad and theHDR on the hdmi doesn’t work and the input lag is terrible it’s just so bad in every way except maybe the speakers and sound , oh and it developed light bleed after four weeks Also wouldn’t help me even tho I’m disabled they sent paramedics to my house after wasting my whole Saturday rather than technical fault finding and helping me

One of the major issues with Sky glass is it doesn’t have an internal hard drive so on other Sky products, you would record programs as they were available and they would be stored on the hard drive of the skybox, but Sky glass streams everything live and cannot store pre-recorded programs which is why you have the issue where if it’s not available when you want to watch you won’t be able to see it.

@@thestanleysadventures8229 that’s terrible. I’ve just “upgraded” to Sky Glass 65”. Got it last Monday. It’s definitely not as intuitive as Sky Q or as easy to use. Apparently you can go back to the Sky Q package and just pay off the TV, therefore getting a 4K tv while having the convenience of having having Sky Q. Also, I don’t like having to pay for the subscription for the Dolby digital surround sound. It should be standard just because it’s capable of it.

I only lasted a day and a half with it . Terrible lay out . I had my favorites on sky q , so easy to use . But GLASS no thanks . I would listen Smooth then turn it off expecting it to start on the same , but no . Plus my dvd and roxy could not be plugged in , would have needed to new cables . Sound was not so good either had echo ,phoned up to complain , and to be fair the lady i got was very understand . So they are collecting the tv and put me back on Sky glass .

Always used duracel batteries still died silly fast and now on our 5th controller ! They just brick which is frustrating, it's not that it doesn't get my accent it's that it's ability is very limited so if the controller dies you still can't use the TV properly.
