@blackdragonwolve8317Ай бұрын
I think people get confused about solar manufacturers, for some solar manufacturers they cannot produce it cheap enough and they are open about that. This causes misconceptions as people naturally love to assume. Example: currently we can't create a solar powered car (solar on roof) this hit news headlines for a bit and the effect is people taking that out of proportion saying it's too early for solar and too expensive assuming that one thing must mean another. (Also sorry if my comment is confusing I'm in a time crunch writing this lol)
@deadPan-cАй бұрын
the only reason renewable energy is "more expensive" is because the coal and oil industry actively works to restrict access to renewables
@AUniqueHandleName444Ай бұрын
Yes and no. Solar is cheaper than coal if you don't take into consideration base load and grid stabilization. To claim that it is outright cheaper than coal, you either have to look at solar + natural gas, or solar (like 2-3x as much as the natural gas scenario) plus batteries. And in that case, it's not cost competitive much of anywhere, although it compensates for that with some fairly obvious perks.
@tomaszsotysik9438Ай бұрын
The whole argument of green energy being too costly is an argument from over 20 years ago, when it was so. Its being parroted to this day, even though advancements in the technology made them more affordable and nowadays they can easily compete with the fossil fuels. Many countries run programs subsidizing the change to green so it is easier for the businesses to make the transition. In the end, the fossil fuel shills know very well they are in the wrong, and that their operations are destroying the environment, and that this transistion to green energy is something unavoidable. They just want to stay as profitable as they can in this moment without investing, so that the weight and the costs of the change will be put on the governments and the working class, instead of paying for it themselves.

The bigger issue here is that a lot of people like to point the finger at China for how much they use, but nobody is willing to discuss why that is. If they weren't then nobody would have them. If there was no return on investment on solar then what would be the point in having it installed? Her talking points are 20 years old. What she MIGHT mean, is that it's less profitable for a corporation. Which is, in part, because of how the fossil fuel industries are propped up by governments; and of no concern to anyone but a lobbyist or shareholder at said corporation. But to the end consumer renewables are ABSOLUTELY cheaper. Maybe not everywhere I guess, but certainly in most of Europe.

Govt hand outs is not the only way you benefit from the economic wealth of the country you live in. The mining boom was one reason why Australia was recession proof for many years whilst the rest of the world suffered through recessions. The government doesn't create wealth
@r.davidsenАй бұрын
@@carlosquinto1383 I tax 34% and get very little in return, thank you very much. There are absolutely no hand outs from the government whatsoever. Considering how many years I've paid taxes (not only on my salary, but everything else) and the little I have gotten in return from the government, then I'd be a multi-millionaire by now if I had paid no taxes but spent the same money to cover everything from healthcare to unemployment. The concept of a welfare system is a noble idea, and I support it, as there are those who are much worse off than me, and would not be able to support themselves at all if not for welfare. But in practice, it's just a complete loss for me personally, and I don't benefit from it at all, and I won't benefit from it when I retire, get old and have to live in a nursing home either. They take 90% of your pension for you to live in a nursing home. That is 90% of a pension that has already been taxed 34% two times! Once when you were working, and once when your pension is taxed. The government does indeed create wealth. It is run much like a corporation. I live in a country with lots of natural resources, like oil and gas. The government owns all the natural oil and gas and has state companies extracting and selling it. Some have since become privatized, which is basically a betrayal to the population, since the people is funding the government. Norway has the largest government fund in the world, called the Oil Fund. The fund is so large that they could easily give $10 million to each citizen and they would still be well off. Yet, they spend absolutely nothing. The budget still relies heavily on taxes, which is a joke, considering how much money they have in assets. With that said, the whole energy and electricity sector is a scam. In the past, there was only one company to pay your bills to. Now, you have to pay to the producer, the provider and the owner of the elctricity network. In the past, there was only one company to pay to, as the producer was the provider and the network owner at the same time. I pay more for the network rent (to be hooked up to the network) than for the electricity I use. In a country as cold as Norway, it is a must to have electricity for heating. I would die without it, so having no electricity is not an option. I could live in a cabin in the mountains without electricity, running water and a toilet, but I'd be living like a hermit and have little to no income. As for the cost of electricity, our government has connected Norway to Europe through two giant underwater sea cables in the last couple of years This has raised the price of electricity by 1000%! Yes, you read that right... not hundred, but a thousand percent! The kwH price was $0.05 three years ago, now it's $10 and up! The prices vary throughout the day, but the highest prices are more than $10... and to top it off, they increase it the most in the winter, when you need it the most! Not only that, but they built the underwater cables so they could sell "clean" hydro-electricity to the rest of Europe, and import cheaper electricity from coal producers such as Germany. It's a complete joke, because it's the same electricity running through the cables! Energy is energy. There is no exhange of clean and dirty energy! It's the same electricity running through the cables! The only thing being exchanged is money and energy certificates and environmental quotas. It's all a joke! Going off on a tangent here, but you could even say that money has no real value. A currency is a made up value. When money is printed, the value decreases but you get physically more money. Nowadays, they hardly even print money! It's just numbers on a screen. And who decides what the value of the currency is? Well, it's mostly how many people use the currency to trade with, but it's the government (who owns the national bank) who decides how much money is always in circulation, thereby deciding what the value is. So, yes, the government does create wealth, but it isn't for its people. It's the caretakers of these funds and the owners of these privatized companies that makes money. It is certainly not the general population. Why do I say this? Because the high taxes are so high that it is sufficient to pay for the national budget.
@SpacemongerrАй бұрын
@@carlosquinto1383 As a Norwegian, all I have to say to your comment is HAHAHA. It's not just the fact she's spewing pro-billionaire, anti-freedom talking points without a shred of shame. She is utterly rude, condescending and bitchy in spite of having terrible argumentative skills. Then on top of that she's also probably receiving a cushy paycheck from sky of around half a million a year or whatever the fuck these talking head idiots rake in.

It’s because he knew exactly what he was talking about and was totally confident. He’s probably dealt with just about every talking point from right wing folks like her. When you’re well-informed in your subject, it’s much easier to stay calm and collected.

Bruh. She’s stumbling over the words her producers are yelling in her ear LMAO. What an absolute bellend.

Mate, you were too calm, responsible and logical here and refused to take the bait and now they don't have a clip to get the boomers raging about. But seriously, well done dude you expressed points well and articulated everything perfectly. The hilarious thing was when she said "what happens to their lights if they shut down tomorrow" and you straight up called her out with a clam face. She couldn't get one up on him, amazing.

Man! Boomers were hippies!! What are you talking about?!? ALL my boomer friends are against coal, corporate slavery, fossil fuels, and they are pro solar, EVs...

@sharpasacueball i love how he barely had to try to do it, he was just reasonable and didn't allow her to bait him

4:30 "Hard to know where to start with... uhh... that answer" because you're an unthinking mouthpiece for a corporation.

She was literally listening to the producer in her ear as he was answering hence why she doesn’t know where to start.
