Love these rides, it's beyond satisfying once you get that first flip and just maintain the crazy spins through the remaining duration of the ride. Along with Flying Scooters, I wouldn't be surprised if they also took inspiration from Eyerly Fly-O-Planes. Sky Rollers/Flys feel like a modern version of that classic.

Do you mind doing one about the atmosFEAR? This happened a few days ago at Oaks Park in Portland Oregon.

Unrelated, but once more info is released (which will likely be a few months at the EARLIEST) can you make a what really happened video on the Atmosphere accident in Portland, Oregon that happened last week? (The one where they were stuck upside down for a while)

HYPERIA in the UK Thorpe Park had issues twice since opening. Not much known why just issues with lift hill. Would be very interested to hear your point of view!

I went on this at Dreamworld and, being an aviation enthusiast, i criticised how it was not accurate to a plane. It actually was incredibly difficult to control and i didn't get to spin. I will say i love how Dreamworld displayed an actual plane next to it.

I've only been on the one at Blackpool, it's very weather dependant there. With a light wind in the wrong direction you struggle to get it going, but when the Big One is shut you can just send it.

I have experienced 2 of the SkyFly versions, one at Tripsdrill and one at Holiday Park. The flipping is very uncomfortable in my opinion so I often just sit there and enjoy the scenic views.

Any tips on how to flip? I couldn't figure it out when I did TMNT Shell Shock and I want to know how before I visit Canada's Wonderland this summer.

They are fun when they are not nerfed to prevent flips. Lost Island's can no longer invert as of 2024.

Riding a Sky Fly is a great opportunity for a workout 😎 The version which is the most easy one to flip is "Wild Wings" at Duinrell in the Netherlands: I managed to do 62 inversions which were insanely fast - my vision blurred and I felt dizzy after this hell of a ride, totally worth it 🤘🏻

Rode Skyhawk at CW and probably had the most fun I’ve ever had on a ride, shame on how rare these are.

I've been fortunate enough to ride a Sky Roller, Two Sky Fly's, and the single Sky Racer. Sky Fly was my favorite of the bunch, my most amount of flips was 29 on the Lost Island Sky Fly!

Just rode the sky fly the fast few days at Duinrell in the Netherlands. The most rolls we managed were 71 rolls on our last ride just yesterday (not me but a friend, i only managed to spin 46 times and another friend 56 times. Just one of the fest flat rides that can be mild and thrilling depending on what the rider wants.

I like how these rides look unremarkable from off the ride, but on the ride they can be super crazy, meanwhile other ones look crazy off the ride, but when you get on it it's a snoozefest ResidentSleeper

I have been on both versions but I find some models really hard to spin, like the one at Holiday Park and the one at Tripsdrill. One of the most versatile and fun flats rides out there ;-)

There was a stretch when I had inlaws living in MN; during that time I visited the MoA on a few occasions, and I remember when they removed a 'Mighty Axe' ride for one of these. It just isn't my thing, but I do marvel at it. I think Ocean City NJ has one of these, though I'm not certain of this.

I rode a sky fly at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, there was an error with the ride so there was no spinning, no matter how hard I tried to flip, 13 year old me was disappointed.

I rode nearly all the versions. The Sky Roller (prototype version) at Belantis, the standard Sky Roller at Bakken, the Sky Fly at Nigloland, Tripsdrill, Holiday Park, Bayern Park... and the Sky Racer at Tivoli Friheden. And I have a polarized opinion. Sky Fly are probably one of my favorite flat ride. It's really elegante, I love the motion, very aerial. I usually perform a few flips per cycle, or even do inverted low level flying, which is really fun. Or no flips at all and just enjoying the sights and motion. Sky Roller and Sky Racer however... I don't know but I never got to perform any flips. At all. I think it's more of a psychological reason than anything, but I found these versions more frightening (yes, even the low-to-the-ground one lol). So yeah, not a fan of these versions. The change of height in the Sky Fly is what makes them better. To add more infos: - The very first Sky Fly at Nickelodeon features lap-bars, while all the other models have the standard Gerstlauer OTSR. The Sky-Fly at Epic Universe will have the new (and fugly) over-the-shoulders lap-bars Gerstlauer debuted on Defiance. - The technic to flip is both to alternate the wings position (one up, one down), having your feet crossed and shift your weight toward the lowest wing. Then, just like a swing, get yourself into resonance. - While Gerstlauer do encourage flips.... They (or the TÜV) had to limit them. People were doing 50, 70 or even 90 flips per cycle. So most Sky Fly/Roller are now harder to flip. - I also rode the Technical Park version, which is like an Enterprise with winged seats. And it's way more terrifying that a Sky Fly, despite being lower. It's hella steep.
