sitting in my NES right now. grew up on this game, have played it enough to have everything memorized, and as everyone has said, amazing soundtrack.

Sky Shark is a short and wicked hard game, but it's amazing how smoothly this plays for an 8-bitter. And that soundtrack!

NintendoComplete, Could you sometime make a video on say...the "Lunar" games on Sega CD? I think it would be good videos to watch...though you should split them into parts because, those games are loooong!

And what a travesty at the same time as well! I once wanted to play this on my PAL NES, and it simply softlocks itself making it absolutely impossible to play. :(

It plays smoothly but when things get busy some things have a tendency to disappear. But still hit you.

I can't tell you what a relief this video is. Either I used to rent this every so often or I'd borrow it from a friend, but I practiced it and played it and could never "beat" it, and it used to drive me insane. Looking back, I just never realized it was looping.
@PaperCut2UGaming10 ай бұрын
didnt it get harder though?
@Peter_Morris10 ай бұрын
@@PaperCut2UGaming Yeah but I just didn’t realize it. I mean I grew up with never-ending video games, but to me at the time that was a relic of the early years. Something left behind with Space Invaders and Galaga. Since Gradius I just figured all shooters after it would have a final boss and an ending, then loop.

Excellent conversion of the Arcade game. Tim Follin's music is the best part. But GOD DAMN IS IT HARD! Well, like the box art says "Nobody ever said it will be easy."

I remember loving this game as a 7 year old but finding it very intense. I also remember being given the option of buying it, or mega man 2, and going with megaman 2. Now i remember why. Shit ending.

This was the very first video game I ever played. I was surprised to learn recently that this version was exclusively released in North America, despite the original being a game from Japan. And speaking of Japan, it's finally getting a JP release as part of the upcoming Hishou Same! Same! Same! release by M2, as part of their line of Toaplan ports for Switch and PS4.

This was the first game I got for my NES (besides Mario and Duck Hunt). The first game that didn't come with it. I played the crap out of this game. I didn't even know I beat it. I thought the game glitched or something and reset. I died so many times because some items on screen (bullets, enemies, etc) would glitch out and disappear. I NEED TO SEE THOSE! I would yell.

Interesting! I just bought an old CIB Blockbuster rental copy for my NES this afternoon and it's tough as nails! I've not gotten far, but a few differences I've noticed from mine and your game play is I start with twin guns and you seem to start with 1. When you get an upgrade it's 2, but when I get an upgrade it's 4. What the haps? Edit: Also just noticed the first boss shoots at you with single shots, but he's firing at me in waves of 3 shots at a time, weird! I wonder how many other subtle differences there are?

Was this recorded off real hardware? If so it would explain the borders at the side
@NintendoComplete6 жыл бұрын
Nope, it was actually emulated. The borders should be there regardless of what it was recorded from, though. The NES picture had a 4:3 aspect ratio (the shape of old tube TVs). Any video of an NES screen that fills a widescreen image (16:9, like modern TVs and KZbin) is stretched and distorted, and is not at all how it's supposed to look.
