Great video. My first drone was a Cloud master. It was a good starter drone. I just recently purchased a Skydio2 on Ebay and it is amazing!! This is a great video to get me started. My skydio2 came with the beacon, the remote, and a spare battery. I really like how the Skydio 2 is built and its ease of operation. A robotic, fully autonomous flying camera. In fact, my local high school reached out to me after putting up an advertisement on facebook to record the band's halftime show from an aerial pov. Definitely the perfect drone for the job. Thanks again for such an informative video. Subbed.

always wanted to get the skydio 2 but they wouldn't ship once covid started so i ended up picking up a DJI mavic air 2 and last month i just got the skydio 2 plus and i must say i am very impressed but yes you are correct as it does have some limitations but in my opinion still overall is a much better drone than what DJI produces,skydio has great customer service and will go above and beyond to help you out and always answer any questions you may have.

Great Visual Quick-Start Guide ... Will be a 1st time drone operator ..in Biaytch 3 ... patiently waiting ... since 11-2-2019 .... IMHO still the best on the market for the recreational type user The only 2 drawbacks that give me a small pause is Range .. (really not a deal breaker for most users) and how close it follows ( not able to set the distance as to how far away it is when in follow mode).... Great Video as always Billy

Enjoy your vids very much, thanks. One thing no one's touched on though; while using the Beacon can you still use your phone to see what the camera sees in real time? The best aspect of flying these Quads is that I can view what the Drone sees and then maneuver to get a better shot or fly it to where I want to be because I have that aerial perspective.

What about: A beginner series with one controller type Only such as the iPhone app and sticking with steps from start to finish for a first flight using iPhone app only. Don’t clutter with Becon or Controller. Go through all functions using just the iPhone. Then do a second Video Flying Skydio using the Beacon, then one with the controller. For the Novice series use the SAME steps but add in additional non-basic commands for using the iphone app only, then do a separate one for Beacon. By eliminating teh same intro and fancy graphics in each and every video just remove them. Users will learn much more quickly. Just add the fancy graphics and intro ONE time at the beginning and maybe in the summary at the end of the last video.

Good morning, in this tutorial you mention that you can use the phone and the beacon at the same time (connecting the phone to the beacon's Wi-Fi) I understand that so that the Skydio can be autonomous and fly by itself and at the same time be able to see through the phone what is being recorded and in turn take photos, but that operation does not work (I was never able to connect my phone to the beacon's Wi-Fi). Maybe I misunderstood the explanation. Could you answer me on this topic? Thank you! all the best.

Hey Billy thank you for your excellent videos on the skydio drone. I'm looking to acquire skydio primarily for its tracking capability (UTV and offroad sports) and plan on using a cell phone and the beacon to control the Drone. I'm just wondering in general does the Skydio platform seem to prefer Android or iphone? I know how much DJI seems to prefer the apple platform and was wondering if the Sykdio has a preference?

Fantastic. I've been playing with mine for a few weeks now and love it. Using the app, I cannot seem to fly without the camera tracking me. Upon setting up I had to drag the camera to position. Is it possible with the app to re access that screen to reset camera direction? Thanks so much.

I have a question about gps of beacon versus gps of phone when Skydio app running the drone, each case separately by themselves .......... doesn't the gps of phone also give location assistance as back up of visual tracking? Beacon is claimed as giving better gps to back up visual, asking again, doesn't phone's gps also do at least ok when operating drone with phone alone?

Thank-you, very informative ; just a question can you connect it with phone and controller simultaneously. I like to use the phone for follow me mode in water while surfing and use the controller (with secondary phone) with pilot siting on beach to bring it back after battery is empty.

I love my new Skydio 2 but I would use a DJI Phantom 4 for yachting because you can grab one of the skids. The drone will be referencing the water (if it can), not the boat which is moving. I wouldn’t dream of attempting to grab or land the SD2 under conditions like that.

Hi Billy! I've been following you for several years or so. I've done a number of DJI drones and am having fun. I even had an AirDog - very difficult to use! So, to cut to the chase, today was my first Skydio2 launch. I was just in a parking lot and walking around. I had already updated the firmware, etc. I was trying to use the beacon and the iphone at the same time. But the skydio phone app wanted to connect to the drone, rather than the beacon. And the beacon wanted to connect to the phone for gps stuff. I ended up letting the beacon have its way and I was not able to use the phone whatsoever. I've seen your videos where you are clearly using both. How do you do that? Also, where's your Patreon listing?

Billy nice video!I have a Skydio II Also, Nice drone. I wish the cell phone holder on the controller was capable of holding my Samsung S8 Active with the case on it. So I just have to take the case off of it while using the controller , it fits if I force the brackets. Also , the Skydio II will not fly if the Micro SD card does not have a "U3 Rating on a 32GB card. I bought "U3" 128" & a "U3" 256GB cards and the app tells me the cards are too slow to video,, and will not let me fly the drone. If I put my "U3" 32GB Card in the drone , it will allow me to fly. Just saying , Doug

Thanks Billy. Question: Is it possible to prefetch maps, e.g. if you're gonna fly without cellular connection? I can't seem to get into the maps window unless connected to the Skydio2 via WiFi, but then I can't USE the WiFi to access internet for map data, UNLESS I'm using a cellular-enabled device and in a location that has cellular service. Would be very nice to pre-fetch map data so that I can have maps during flight 1) with non-cellular mini-iPad and 2) at a remote location where there is not cellular signal.
@TheShantry4 жыл бұрын
UPDATE: Still wondering about pre-fetch for holding onto map data when you know you will later fly at a location without cellular or wifi internet connection. BUT, if you plug iPad into controller, then it free's up the WiFi signal from the Skydio2 so that you can connect iPad to internet WiFi (e.g. mifi device) to download maps. Not sure if there's a solution for the situation that you want to fly without a controller.
