Every day spent on DZ jumping is a day when I flush out all my life worries and anxieties. That's why I am back the next weekend again.

I was a Paratrooper in the early 60s. Started Skydiving in 1966. Later became a jumpmaster in 1967. Had a PC after jumping a 1.1 candy striped LL, then in 1970 purchased a Para Plane in 1970. No Slider. Had to quit in 1972 due to my job. Took it up again in 2013 - 2015. Miss it tremendously.

This documentary is so underrated! I love it so much, watched it many times already. As a begginer in the sport, watching it I get a huge smile on my face :) Sucks to be to broke to get to the dropzone :P

I originally got into skydiving to throw drogues. I'm grateful to be a part of the professional skydiving community. It's a very challenging and rewarding job. Most students do a couple of jumps and we never see them again, but every once in a while I get a student who's got the skydiving bug. They come to the DZ prepared, they study, ask questions, take suggestions. I see myself in these students and it makes it all worth it.

I just started skydiving again 2 month ago after my last jump back in 1991 when I had 26 jumps and was freefalling from 10,000 feet. I have to do some student jumps before I can freefall again. My second jump last week with jumpmaster Pablo was so great I loved It. Jumpmaster Pablo has over 1700 jumps. I have the videos of my jumps. Skydivers at are jump zone are like family to me. I have met a lot of great skydivers at are drop zone already.

Haha. Point Break. That’s what did it for me as well. Did a tandem and was hooked. Only my wallet couldn’t handle it. I was a freshman in college and dead broke living on my own. I managed to do four jumps and it was one of the best experiences of my life.

Point Break for me got me going, thanks to the best Tandem and AFF Examiners for giving me my ratings. Working at the DZ as a TM and AFF-I, during college and law school was the best way to subsidize skydiving. Complete focus and patience are the best qualities to have for longevity as an instructor in the sport.

Srikanth Punagasela AFF generally takes you thru your first several jumps, after AFF you are usually cleared to jump at your local drop zone solo or with a coach. Once you're ready and meet all the requirements, you can apply for your A-license. Your USPA "A" let's you jump at most dropzones worldwide.

+Srikanth Punagasela Did you end up getting your a license? Are you still jumping?

can a high school drop out become an instructor.. these vids make me cry
@SkydiveHawaiiKid2 жыл бұрын
A high school diploma is not required to be a skydiving instructor, however you may not be the best instructor out there if your students are more intelligent than yourself. Having a high school diploma does not necessarily indicate level of intelligence, but it does make an impression on anyone who would want to hire you, I hope you are an outstanding individual otherwise if you have any hope of teaching skydiving, it is a life/death sport.

I need to find a second at home job so I can get the funds and time to get my license. There is something indescribably beautiful about skydiving.

You People are so lucky . I only have this small dream one day i'm gonna skydive and one day i'm going to fly a wing suit. But for now :( i'm stuck in romania i'm very pour there is just little chance to leave this country . We survive from pay check to pay check. And im very depressed about the very small oportunities i have here :( . One day i will find a way to leave this country and start skydiving .

save some money and start selling things with FBA. With the money you get from it you can easily get a skydive licence. Lots of tutorials on KZbin to get you started. Easiest job in the world.
@ilyafilru4 жыл бұрын
It's been 6 years since you posted that, I wonder if you followed your dream? Get a work visa to a country near by that has a big drop zone. Start out as a packer; it's very hard work but many skydivers started this way. We need packers in California!!
@demessis35134 жыл бұрын
@Ilya, wow thx man. Well this is an eye opening thing. It has been 6 years. I got my self out of Romania, move to another European country, mostly lived there for the past 6y, but I also traveled allot every year. I have a good job in tech and make a decent salary, also happy to say I'm not depressed anymore. Much has changed in 6y. Still looking forward to skydive, but I have some other priorities at the moment. I did try many other sports, snowboarding, freediving, diving and got back into mountain biking and in-line skating at a skate park. ^__^ cheers, hope you stay safe and healthy.

I should admit "Point Break" was the movie that sparked my interest... ...but it didnt take me long to realize how full of BS that movie was especially how people would have conversations with each other mid-jump (I was caught completely by surprise by how loud & noisy it was my first jump) ...or pull their chutes 100ft off the ground, bounce 10ft and walk away unscathed. Yeah.... whatever.

lol true but still a great movie!
@boyloboyle53277 жыл бұрын
true, but seeing that movie as a child was very inspirational, I think it might have played a small influence on all 3 of our lives... surfing is great, skydiving is amazing... i don't need the money - but still want to rob a bank just because it looks exciting as fuck... the 3 of us might be able to get away with it if we work as a team --- the endless summer

I wish I’d taken up crack cocaine instead of skydiving- it would have been cheaper and less addictive.
@paramandans6 жыл бұрын
Yeah yeah blah blah....did it before but to much cost for such short rides. Paragliding is real flight and you can fly (real flying) for hours at a time.....just saying
@SkydiveHawaiiKid6 жыл бұрын
I agree, I got my P2 years ago and would prefer a day of ridge soaring to making just one jump, but paragliding and speed flying still can't match the freedom you feel when you step out or step off something.
@paramandans6 жыл бұрын
Yeah I get it as I have sky dived and bungee jumped from a hot air balloon.
@sergeig6856 жыл бұрын
TK Hinshaw freedom? Oh, you have to fly cross country on a paraglider. More adrenaline, adventure, and freedom than skydiving for sure.
@sabre2x1354 жыл бұрын
I tried paragliding- I found it really boring just slowly floating around. Glad I tried it but wouldn’t want to do it again
@paramandans4 жыл бұрын
sabre2x135 ....It’s better you stay in sail plains because it’s much safer than paragliding. Also paragliding isn’t for those who can’t handle getting wing collapse in strong thermals and for those out of shape and or to lazy to hike up a mountain when required.
