Completely agree on all the school points, and a lot of people in higher positions do know that many of these things, particularly higher pay for teachers, is needed to fix the problems within the school system. There's a large body of evidence that shows homework doesn't do anything for learning or retaining information, it just gives kids another reason to hate and avoid school. But like most things, these are all controlled by politics. You would not believe the amount of incopetent people who just go into education to have a cushy government job with benefits and pension, and do shit-all. The sad part about it is that It makes all the teachers who are actually trying look bad, so from the outside it just seems like the education system is a complete failure to anyone who doesn't know any better. It's heartbreaking seeing all the teachers who are trying their best to give these kids a chance, and then the poor kids think no one cares about them because it's just a public school and one teacher can't fix all the problems. But I assure you, like every other fucked up institution, it's bureaucracy and fuck-head politicians all the way down.

I always had an A average for tests and quizzes in every one of my classes, but not doing my homework would drag down my grade so hard. It always annoyed me because homework is supposed to be something that helps prepare you for tests and quizzes, but if I'm not doing the homework and still acing the tests and quizzes then what is the point of assigning it to me in the first place?

I failed math in my sophomore year of highschool despite me getting a 90 on my finals. I had a 64 average and had to repeat the course with the same teacher. I didn't even bother trying the next year and didn't show up for the finals. In the end I transferred to a trade school and got my GED instead of dealing with the public school system.

Yeah the homework was the problem for me, memorizing and comprehending the information never was a problem. I dropped out at 16, was forced to take a prep course because I live in Florida, they prep-tested me on a college level and I passed with a high score, but I still had to spend half a summer in the course before finally getting to take the real test. I never felt challenged enough, but I knew going for advanced classes would only give me more homework. So instead, I purposely underachieved so I could have a personal life. Potential suffers greatly in the current system.

I sometimes have a hard time remembering stuff myself and it's isn't really his fault but hearing jerma trying his damnest to claim that the realistic humans from sonic 06 aren't the same as Mario Odyssey is so funny to me. They look like they can co-exist in a realistic type game and no one can tell the difference between them. Yeah it's argued that Mario's real humans is a bit more stylized and cartoony than 06 but on first glance it's really hard to tell.

I grew up in Germany and I went to a high-school that was severely over funded. Like they build an all new high-school with the "latest tech for education" and absorbed students from 2 previously seperate high schools together. And I can tell you, higher funding means absolutely nothing if the dunces in charge allocate the money to expensive projectors and computers none of the staff now how or care to use (and don't need to), instead of paying teachers well enough to not come to school miserable, maintenance staff enough to actually want to do their job and maybe just hiring more people in general. My school literally cut all cleaning staff except for one lady and just made it not allowed to loiter on the halls during breaks, which made everything worse, because student ended up walking more and going outside more spreading even more dirt. They exploited the hell out of that last woman. As I see it, the main issue with schools, almost world wide, is a lack of standards. Teachers need to randomly be observed if they do their job right and not told 2 weeks in advance to plan a good lesson once to show off and then never again. There need to be some basic health inspections for sanitation standards every few months. And maybe double check the money flow, I swear the principal pocketed like 40% of the schools funding to themselves (who ironically was the successor to a woman who was literally fired for doing just that, but after they switched, budget seemed not to improve. Weird). And to make up for that they DO need more funding. Money poorly spend is worse than no money at all
