Every since they added water-logged blocks, I always make my farms with the water source covered by a slab halfway in the water, so I can place a light source on it.

You can see from the textures that the dinosaur mod is for 1.12, where water logged blocks don't exist. Those came in 1.13

Helpful tip with creepers, their damage is actually blocks away from your feet, so if you place a block in front of the creeper before he explodes, you won't take any damage
