Craig's portrayal of Bond is one for the ages. He's a ferocious machine. He simply doesn't let go, and his relentlessness is perfectly translated into nonstop physical endurance. All while displaying the main visual traits of Bond: being resourceful and mindful of his surroundings, wearing a suit in the most uncomfortable pursuit scenarios, nonchalantly adjusting the cuffs, a cool and calm, collected demeanor - albeit interspersed with bits of frustration and annoyance - and the typical quip ready for deployment.

This scene is brilliant. The first lesson ever shooter had is that when you don't have a clear shot, you don't take it, when there is any chance you could hurt friendly, you definitly don't take it. That was a 100% no shoot situation, Moneypenny knows that as a top agent, of course M would know that, but agents are just expendable for her, it's her job to make hard, or even wrong decision. It foreshadowed the action of Silva, and M kind of get what she deserved at the end. The entire film is around the controversy of intelligence agencies and their dirty jobs ("the old way") for "greater good", unlike most super agent film, it has a very good story arc.

@DonSoprano472 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t say M got what she deserved as she had other agents around the world to think about not just bond so it’s a case of losing one but saving hundreds which is a hard decision but it had to be done for the greater good bond knows this so that’s why he doesn’t take it personal Silva was betrayed by M because he overstepped his position and abused it M knew the Chinese were getting close to capturing him so she gave him up she got peace from the Chinese 6 new agents life goes on silva took it personally though that’s the difference
@justinguyos54762 жыл бұрын
Except that was far too risky and it ultimately cost them the mission. James probably would have been able to defeat the agent and take back the data if M didn't demand Moneypenny to take the shot. The agents may be expendable but they are still the ones completing the missions necessary. Any decent spymaster would recognize the precariousness of the situation and listen to their agents about the uncertainty of the orders given. There is pragmatism and then there is sheer recklessness on M's part. High risk of killing the agent that was getting the data for her vs trusting the agent to sort things out himself

Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig are two of the best! And to think that Ian Fleming based James Bond partially on a friend of his. The friend was David Niven. They knew each other during WWII. Both served in military force for England. And Niven had a title and rank and was extremely polished but could do the needful things James Bond did. Lots of information here. I did a lot of information. I searched a lot of places to get all of this and confirmed it. Most important to read is Nivens two books he wrote above his life.

I love this scene because it highlights just how strong M was. She KNEW the risk, quickly processed it - and made the cold calculated call "take the shot". She is all "bigger picture" and this was illustrated in how she was willing to let agent Bronson die - knowing clearly that he was going to die. Reminds me of the scene from The Peacemaker. It is, of course, this bigger picture thinking that led to the creation of Silva and points to the larger duality of "necessary evils" that have haunted M over the years.

Casino Royale. Honestly i dont like Skyfall after this amazing pre title sequene it goes downhill quick.. i‘m among the very few people who prefer Spectre over Skyfall
@ortialni74 жыл бұрын
@eating sugar no papa Skyfall has very cliché narrative thrusts, like when Bond refills his angriness when the Aston Martin gets destroyed. I found Casino Royale much more modern, fresh, cool and interesting graphically. Skyfall has a great intro, but after that it all goes downhill like David said. We like watching James Bond because it's one of the last bastions of masculinity. Having to put up with nerdy teenagers as Q, a clumsy feminist, a crazy homosexual, all this modernity thrust down our throats while we can easily understand the director's concept with much less heaviness, and seeing Bond wait for tens of seconds like an idiot during dialogues instead of shooting the bad guy when he's right in front of him on a ladder, and he's just tried shooting a bullet at him, is a huge step backwards towards classicism in my opinion. Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace brought something relatable and believable in a Bond that's quick on the trigger, swift, emotional. Though not entirely lost, he appears more bland here. The camera choices could have been much more thrilling in Skyfall, like when he hides in a crevasse in the wall to escape fire. A travelling shot sliding from behind the crevasse, towards to corridor, where Craig would appear running towards the camera, then the camera tracks him as he runs by, would have looked more original than learning out of nowhere there's a hole in the wall right as he hides in it. That's the type of detail Casino Royale gets right. In Skyfall, Bond doesn't magically get out of some situations, yet he still does magically get out of some others. It's random. I hate that. Casino Royale has more credibility, he's a badass and that's it. He loses once at the poker game, but it's credible. The casting is perfect, the parkour chase is a flavourful idea, opening up the way they did with the INSANE intro and MASTERFUL Chris Cornell song is well thought of. It was the perfect introduction to Craig as Bond. Plus Le Chiffre is more interesting as a bad guy. Vesper is so cute and bitchy at the same time. Every character has it.

Just enjoy the movie for god sake, i know is not realistic. The unrealistic part make the movie more fun.

Sometimes when you are unconscious in a fall the relaxed condition actually prevents injury. Babies and drunk people often escape damage this way.
@1994sammahdi4 жыл бұрын
lol if were looking at realism. Bond should've been shot 50 when he was sitting in a tiny machine. That seat must be have a force field, because all the bullets just go around it

Because you need more than just a stunt or action to create a perfect scene it involves, sound design, good story and tension which bond film's does perfectly.

Skyfall was the first Bond movie i saw in theaters. I remember watching part of Tomorrow Never Dies and The World is Not Enough, sometimes on tv, but they didnt made me appretiate the bond films. Skyfall blew my mind, this scene alone made me love it, and love 007 films.

As a decades long railroad equipment tech, Bond getting shot off the boxcar by a co-worker is just so relatable! How did they get that sort of treatment so accurately? Amazing. Yes very cleverly done, but all the brakes would bang into an emergency application at the first rapid air pressure loss. Followed by the head end crew chopping the locomotive power off and the whole works screeching to a stop. But who wants to watch that? So I suppose they did it right. lol
