Thanks for all the great suggestions so far! One thing that I will change for sure is the torch light. You guys don't really like it and me neither. Thanks for the feedback! :)

How about structures that have you do challenges, like parkour, puzzles, or bosses, to get a really cool item + loot.

a floating ship in the sky could be a cool dungeon idea
@illpunchyouintheface9094
@illpunchyouintheface9094 2 жыл бұрын
Maybe a ship dungeon flies across the sky. you can shoot it down and raid it once it crashed, or get up high and jump on it once it gets below you. Maybe that’s a bit much tho. Be cool to grapple hook onto a ship and over take it tho.

The following are two biomes that I think would look really good in the game. Biome idea one; a magic valley of sorts where there are huge mushrooms and other larger flora with purple grass and pixies. Biome idea two; a underground haven that is mostly water and waterfalls but that also has large trees and scattered patches of land (side note: it would be cool if enemies can’t attack you if you’re in the biome and the only animals that dwell there are passive)

Nice video as always! Suggestion: Maybe add a tooltip when you hover an item so you know what item it is?

I have to do that for sure. Just images for items are way too confusing for new players :P

I think making the editor public and let the viewers make dungeons and structures is a great idea! If you put som extra hours into the editor, many people will be able to contribute and save you massive amounts of time. Ofc you chose what structures look good enough, so the structures in the game will still be good!
@haubna
@haubna 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah indeed but it will be a good amount of work to split the editor from the rest of the code so that I don't have to release the game with it :P
@larslien9775
@larslien9775 4 жыл бұрын
Haubna ok, I thought it was a different codebase. Then you will have to find out if it’s worth it. Or just disable the gameplay mode and compile.
@haubna
@haubna 4 жыл бұрын
It basically fetches all the entities and puts them into the editor (including their functionality, so that you can change the type of the wall for instance).

Instead of having to make tons of enemies, maybe add in enemy types. So for skeletons they have a random chance of having a sword, spear, club, bow, or no weapon. Then they have a random chance of a helmet or no helmet. They also have a chance of a shield or no shield. Last they have a chance of armor or no armor. The rates of stuff like armor or a helmet can be low like 20% chance to have it, but then the skeleton can spawn as a bunch of different styles, and weapons. The weapons would do different damage. On top of this you have even have different models with little differences, like one with a worm crawling in the eye, one missing some ribs, etc to generate random enemies without making tons of different ones. Could even have an aggression slider, and when spawned in could be more or less aggressive at random.
@haubna
@haubna 4 жыл бұрын
That's literally just creating tons of different enemies. Variations don't come out of nowhere and are a ton of work. It's not a no particularly but this is way too much work for such little difference. I rather create completely new enemies instead of wasting my time on little variations. When the game is released and I have enough time we can talk about enemy variations :P
@jordan_private
@jordan_private 4 жыл бұрын
@@haubna variations dont have to be a ton of work, say you have a skeleton with a sword already, give it a chance to replace the sword model with a spear model and then just change the attack speed and damage.

This isn't really a structure, but I think it's a pretty cool idea that might work in this game. How when a player falls of an island into the abyss kind of thing, maybe there is like a nest or population of these massive creatures, they could be dragons or anything. But basically when they player falls down, maybe one of them will lift its head up to swallow the play? Instead of just being digested or dying, maybe this could lead to a new dimension or something. Just an idea. Some structure ideas: an underground village, a castle (not sure if this one fits the setting of the game), a hut in the woods, this would be similar to a Hagrid's hut from Harry Potter and it would be specifically in a new biome which would consist mainly of giant coniferous trees, probably pine trees or alike. Also how about a giant spiders nest like the acromantula nest with Aragog also from Harry Potter) Also yeah ik there are a 2 things from Harry Potter but u gotta admit... it's pretty cool xD

I am impressed at how clean and cleverly executed this game is so far, you could maybe add buildable portals to move quickly between places (Sebastian Lague has a good video on this)
@haubna
@haubna 4 жыл бұрын
Hmm there will be hopefully enough movement methods so portals would be too overpowered.
