Jordan McSweeney is being sentenced for the murder of Zara Aleena just days after being released from prison.
The 29-year-old defendant, who had targeted more than one woman before he preyed on Ms Aleena, also pleaded guilty to sexual assault.
Ms Aleena was walking home in Ilford, east London, after spending the evening with friends when she was attacked by McSweeney.
McSweeney's movements on that night were sinister and determined. CCTV cameras capture him pursuing at least two women before fixating on Zara.
Having been kicked out of a pub in Ilford town centre just after 11pm on 25 June, McSweeney, 29, set out to find a woman to attack.

Why on earth did I watch and listen to this. Absolutely unbelievably horrific. That poor woman. I actually feel physically nauseous. And what makes my blood boil is how when evil doings occur, the person always says "woe me, I am like this because my father was an alcoholic or I wasn't cuddled enough by my mother, or I have a personality disorder or I cannot remember doing it (call bullshit on the last one)", as if to pass the blame for their crimes. How such an evil man was let loose - surely there was some sign that all was not well? As 28 convictions in 29 years is unbelievable. And definitely pure evil. The rape was bad enough, but the stamping was beyond. And he cannot use being drunk as an excuse as if he was sober enough to follow several woman and plan an attack, then he had control over his mind and actions. Honestly, why waste taxpayers money keeping him in jail.... even the electric chair would be a waste of resources spent. EDIT: Surely life in prison should be just that. 38 years is a good start, but it's not life....then again a piece of rope would be the cheapest option.

People crying about the streets not being safe for women, at that time, shouldn’t even be a discussion. Why shouldn’t someone feel safe in a ‘first world’ a society full of CCTVs and fully lit streets! I personally walked around those hours due to the part time job I got, while studying in south west London. Bar tending at pubs and local clubs, working in stadiums, for entertainment or sporting events. I normally get home at 2, 3, 4 AM Call me naive but I never ever thought anyone would attack me, the worst that happened to me was theft of phone (im assuming a pick- pocketer) which I only realised when I reached home! This story not only shocked me but made me realise all those 3 years(12 years ago) I was fortunate to make it home safely. This shouldn’t happen to anyone. In summing up of a case...all other participants will have ample time to put forward their case...as such the Judge is the only one to speak.

@@yzsr4 he’s been given a life sentence with a minimum of 38 years before he’s eligible for parole. So once he’s done 38 years in prison he can apply for release, but he’d have to satisfy the probation service that he no longer poses a threat. I think it’s likely he’ll never get out.
