Jeremy Clarkson's irreverent attitude towards controversial issues and his anti PC stance are two of the aspects of his personality that most people find attractive and is the main reason behind Top Gear's popularity. Let's be honest here, if it wasn't Jeremy Clarkson who was involved this would not have made even the back page of a newspaper. This is a storm in a teacup and if the BBC allow this to end what has been one of it's most popular and successful programmes over the last ten years it will make people even more angry about having to pay for their TV licence. James May is right. The man is a knob but a likable one. Over the past decade or so, the BBC, once an impartial observer of world affairs, has arbitrarily become the voice of the bleeding-heart liberal. I am an reactionary, to a degree, and I do object to being told by the BBC hierarchy how to act, what to think, when to think it, and how to speak. I am not the minority whom is easily offended by TV (I am offended by lack of quality TV content, however). They themselves were never offended until they were told to be. Jeremy Clarkson represents one of the few independent-minded BBC employees and, as such, has received acerbic criticism from them at the drop of a hat. Every Clarkson venture into humour is met with wringing of hands, gnashing of teeth and bleatings of being ‘offended’. What they'll never understand, is that the British people (and those in hundreds of other countries) delight in the Clarksonesque take on our modern world. When, inevitably, their golden egg migrates to another nest, the BBC’s bleeding-hearts will discover that it is they, not Jeremy Clarkson, who offends the average viewer. Or, is all this is simply another "leak" that somehow miraculously increases ratings and the BBC's worth, as probably has been the case for many a year. "Leaks" usually arise just before a series is about to air. From what I understand, he allegedly "punched" a 36 year old producer. One who has probably come out of Uni a few years ago, full of degree's, and politically correctly knows it all and Clarkson has simply knocked him down a peg. I'm just peeved we don't get to see the last three episodes.

The supposed "N Word" clip was edited out before it aired. It was leaked to the Daily Mirror, who were so concerned about it being offensive that they published it several times internationally. The other comment I think they just thought they could get away with because they (incorrectly) thought it wasn't as bad a slur.

First the fairly recent Stig controversy and now all this. All three presenters should ditch the BBC and jump to another network and carry on like nothing happened. Preferably someone that's online and isn't overseen by traditional network broadcast rules or rely on advertisers the same way, but by subscription. They are so popular they could start their own production company and sell the thing and get more of the share. Business-wise they don't need the BBC in todays world.
